OMG Stephon Castle is a pure point guard he can be a superstar he has a good IQ , he is a good passer , can shoot, he has a good handle he is so good i love him
@@jaywann28how you gonna say relax when we literally drafted him at #4 to be a superstar next to Wemby. It’s not too far fetch to think he will be either. His game is made for the NBA. Just say you don’t watch hoops. 😭
@@MarvPena #4 in a weak draft, bud. You clearly put too much weight on that pick. Look up #4 overall picks historically and you’ll see majority don’t turn out to be superstars. And if you’re expecting it THIS EARLY out of a weak draft the only person that doesn’t watch hoops would be you, bud. Have a good day and do some research
He’s always constantly changing his pace with small pauses that throws the defence off. Nothing seems constant which will keep everything guessing what his next steps are. I think he looks awesome
Those Who are Saying Castle Look Slow Don’t Truly See The Vision That Castle is Controlling The Defense At Will With The Flow of His Game Where He was Able to Get to His Spot
Mmm even if spurs push 40 wins (somewhat unlikely) they could still miss playin. Look at rockets last year with 41 wins. West is tough. Playoffs are fairly unrealistic but not impossible
Current Rosters: Barnes Branham Bassey Castle Champagne Cissoko Collins Johnson Jones Paul Sochan Vassell Wembanyama Wesley Two Way: Ingram Gray Duke Jr. Bouyea FA: Barlow Osman Mamukelashvili With 14 under contract, we only have 1 spot left, unless we made a trade. I hope they retain Mamu 💪🙏
@@aspleen1102 i refer to what i know, i have not seen much matches from the Sacramento Kings. But like i said he probably has lost somewhat of his edge what he used to have back ro when he was part of that defensive lineup. But it may also had to do with the way how the kings played? And with his experience i think he will take the starting sf. And i wouldnt be surprised he will do better than last year
Both Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes are professionals. I think they emphasize a "Team first" mentality. That has been my concern with players like Trae Young and others who mostly consider themselves as celebrities and want to be active on social media. As Pop used to comment, "we want players who are over themselves." I think we're headed into a hailstorm with active players becoming too open on social media in discussing sensitive information (e.g., player health issues, gameplans) that are meant be kept inside the locker room. Look at Damon Greene and his knee-jerk reactions to every negative comment about the Warriors. Paul and Barnes are aware of the need to be discreet. Maybe that's why players like Kawhi Leonard with zero interest in spouting off their every opinion on social media may be a blessing. BTW, even Sochan, one of my favorite players on the Spurs, has danced the edges of being provocative on social media.
Love the trade, got Barnes pretty much for free. Also love the unprotected pick swap. Hope we keep Champaign as a back up to Barnes. Castle looked good last night, played at his pace and had some nice passes. Even with all that he needs to come out from the bench. Don’t need to impose a new position on him. Keep studying and learning the PG form the point god in CP3
With this draft capital (and incoming free agents and trades), getting rid of young projects is inevitable. There just isn't enough roster spots or cap for everyone. Can't get attached to any young guy, especially if they aren't starting or fighting for playing time. We might lose future stars in the process but that's OKAY as long as we make mostly right choices in the process
Great job, Rich! Thanks for keeping us up-to-date. We needed vets and shooting, we got vets and shooting. We are very deep with young talent, so some trimming of the roster must take place. That is natural and the Spurs will be OK. Agree about Sidy, he looked pretty bad last night. I thought Castle looked great. What did you think about Harrison Ingram? He didn't really stand out to me, but I'm hoping that he does well. (Do we now have two "Harrisons" all of the sudden?)
There is a difference between slow and patient, Castle was patient looking to play make first. Would like for him to come out one of these next games and attack. Otherwise he looked good but everyone else pretty much looked like 2nd round picks that probably will not make the roster. A year in Austin would do ALL them good
I hope Patfo consider this lineup wemby , mamu,barnes,vassell,cp3 , barnes at PF is quite small, it will negate out advantage at center position and will require wemby to work harder on rebounding which is prone to injury if thats the case ,which we DO NOT WANT TO HAPPEN
Like these moves !!! Bring in some vets to help Vic start to win. I think Paul stays all season and Barnes is a 50/50 but I think we gonna bring in some more players before off season is done so we will be better next year and that’s all that matters GSG!!
CP3's playing time should be distributed to Castle, Jones, Branham if the goal is still to develop them, but if we are to compete this year, pairing CP3 with Wemby in our starting lineup is perfectly fine
You don’t sign CP3 to sit him. He averaged 10 pts, 4 rbs, and 7 asts off the bench on a team that revolved around getting one guy the ball. He was brought in to mentor Castle and distribute the ball. He will play around 26-28 mins a night. Castle will play the rest. Those other young guys will be in the rotation but won’t play very much
I dont think you have to worry about playing time. Chris Paul is going to miss 20-30 games, you can schedule it. Barnes doesn't miss games, but injuries are normal and will create opportunities in other parts of the lineup
I understand that Barnes is an improvement over Champagnie at the SF position, and I get we had to make cap space moves. But I refuse to believe Champagnie and more importantly Mamu's Spurs career is over. I wanted Mamu on the team when he was in the Bucks, and to see him go to Phoenix or something would be heartbreaking
He's not an improvement. On D Julian is the 2nd best in team D for the Spurs. (behind Wemby, above Blake, Sochan is 4th btw) and he can shoot H.Barnes can shoot but he's just the #61 worst defender in the NBA. Just another Cedi Osman nothing more.
Other than Castle, Sidi, and Ingram, we're not gonna see a lot of these guys in the league. Not worried about it at all. I'm curious to see if there isn't another the spurs are gonna make with all the assets they've acquired for a big trade. Keep CP3, but trade Barnes again and all the picks they've acquired.
@aspleen1102 I meant epic as in showing flashes of being a good pg. I watched the game live and saw lots of great dimes which were not converted into points
i do think there's gonna be more trades to come. we have so many players and we don't have enough roster spots for all of them. i do wish though that they keep mamu.
No way Champagnie, Bassey, Wesley or Sissoko will be in the team in two years. What is then the point to give them some playing time to develop them ? They are currently only here to fill in the roster and they will mainly play for Austin this year. The Spurs need ten players to get the starting 5 and the rotation : Wemby, Vassel, Sochan, Barnes, Castle, Paul, Johnson, Collins, Branham and ??(Mamu as PF because they are light in the front court). Tre Jones should not be in the rotation anymore if you want to develop Castle as PG. His contract is finishing next year. Do the Spurs need to keep him or can they find a trade (now or at the trade deadline) ? (or keeping him as the 11st player but expensive at 9M$ per season). And he has only one year on this contract. Trade him instead of losing him at the end of the season. BTW for the moment, if Mamu and Duke are coming back (I don't see another team to put more than the Spurs on these two players [RFA]), the roster is already filled with 16 players (not counting the 2 two-ways). The Spurs will have to cut at least one player, two if they want to give a contract to Harrison Ingram. Bassey and Champagnie are the only two players with non-garanteed contracts. The Spurs still has around 20M$ to reach the 1st apron and could come back under the cap by trading Tre Jones and cutting Bassey and Champagnie. And what about trading Zach Collins to chase a player at the free agency such as Daniel Theis or Paul Reed (who could perform as well as Collins for far less dollars) ? Or the comeback of David Bertans ??? (ahahah)
Harrison Barnes will be better than his last year with Kings b/c CP3 and VW will get him the ball in his sweet spots. Starters: VW-Sochan-Barnes-Vassell-CP3. Off the bench in no particular order: Collins-Mamu-Keldon-Castle-Jones
Man I hope we resign Mamu and find a way to move on from Malaki. He has a solid game but there is just no spot on the roster for him now that we drafted castle and signed CP3. He got a lot of minutes last year because we tried to run him at point guard but he wasn’t aggressive enough defensively so Blake Wesley started to get his minutes. Right now he’s behind Devin, CP3, Keldon, castle, Tre, and Wesley.
Nobody said blake gonna be good but we just saying they the same player bad pg to lead spurs to promise land 🤦♂️🤷♂️Castle=dejounte murray 2.0 as in worse lol Blake is Blake not a number 4 pick but still had better numbers in college then castle and plays defense 🤷♂️ everybody that's says Blake better is not lying stats are stats in college...but really we just saying why waste a pick on castle when you got one already to develop with a broken shot 🤦♂️🤷♂️they should have got rob dillingham at 4 and got stephon castle at 8🤦♂️🤷♂️picks 3-7 didn't want castle they know what they saw lol and again don't gaslight me with defense crap🤦♂️🤷♂️rob dillingham had more steals then castle so women lie men lie but stats dont lie 😅😂and again didn't say don't pick castle just said pick him at 8 or don't trade for pee-ons in 6th grade 🤦♂️
why you are worryingabout salary cap? dont worry about that. salary cap limit is for signing fa, i dont think we are tageting any more fa for this seasom. now when it comes to cap limit, the one to be worried is luxury tax limit which we are well below that limit. if we exceed this we wont get luxy tax distribution, and for the spurs that is important just imagine teams like warriors, celtics paying hundreds millions of luxury tax and spurs would lose 1/30 of it if they pay tax. when the season actually start mening starting of regular season. not maby if any team have any cap left and what is the point having a lot of cap then( actually there are few reasons why teams should keep some/a lot of cap themn but im not explaining here)since it cannot be carried forward and all teams need to spend 90% of the cap if less that diffeence need to be distributed? since market is dried up. and team wont get good fa then.
Who cares about Barnes or CP3. They are just short term rentals that could be traded/cut whenever. Why isn’t anyone talking about the future Kings pick? The Spurs will have 2 picks from the TWolves and one from the Kings right as Wemby is hitting his prime(with the contract that goes with that). Next year doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Chess not checkers.
Cp3 is one of the best pure Point guards of generation. It’s asbsoutley massive and can’t be understated how important even for a year it is for Wembys development. As far as Barnes it’s just good to have vets instead of just rely on people like Julian champagnie
@@anthonytrevino3191 Absolutely massive? I guess agree to disagree on that one. CP3 is just a solid vet at this point of his career. There’s a reason he only got a one year deal. If anything, it’ll help Castle more than anyone.
"Not a great defender"? Does that equate to being a Trae Young type defender, i.e., poor? Too bad for Minnux b/c if he is out for a while then he won't even be in Austin.
Castle wasn't slow it was control and pace. He's not running 100 mph, then turns the ball over, and he's 6'6, not a little scat back point guard. I swear some our Spurs fan are only fans, no basketball i.Q at all
Barnes and Paul are HUGE upgrades in terms of significantly improving and experience. I’m gonna make a bold and hard-reach prediction: the spurs can win the championship in 2024-25.
Very disappointed in cissoko's performance, but like you said he could just be injured. Ingram and especially Castle showed me everything i was hoping to see out there, and the blowout was entirely because of guys who aren't gonna sniff the main roster anyway, so it doesn't bother me too much. Im happy with what i saw and im excited to see the adjustments
@aspleen1102 I think Ingram is a guy who will make the guys around him look better. The guys out there last night were God awful so I need to see him with the main roster before I take too many notes on him
@@dm0516 him not passing the ball to anyone doesn’t = everyone scared. The only time he gave it up was when his ISO game didn’t work. That type of game might fit well in Phoenix but not in SA
@@CheezusCrustII did you not see the game? Lol everyone sucked and didn’t wanna shoot plus lousy turnovers. He’s not going to make the team but someone has to threaten to drive or try to score
Yes everyone was ass and not making shots. I saw. But Nelson was noticeably one of the bigger problems for our offense. I actually think the biggest issue was whoever the coach is, not drawing up something to get our guys going.
@@CheezusCrustII I agree other fans on bleacher report were not fond of the new coach at all who is really the spurs video coordinator who is getting his first chance coaching
We are 1 good power forward away for being a 7th seed team , a good 6 '10" pf will be awesome ,if we could get bobby portis ,or mcgee ! Deym we are good , the hell with tanking , i hope mamu will eventually get his minutes this season,if he produce somewhat 12pts 6reb a game ,HA!!! Playoffs Easy
I don't think Barnes is a natural starter. Starting 5 includes Mamu. But Barnes really could solidify the second unit for the spurs. Keldon, Barnes, and Collins, Branham, and champani
*Julian Champagnie* > *Harrison Barnes.* Julian can shoot (3rd best last season on the roster behind Vassell and Osman) but can also defend (2nd best D, behind Wemby and just above Blake, on Spurs roster, every of his D metrics were positive) *Barnes* will hurt the team on D...
@@rolieg7353 1/ 6.8pts>5 or less 2/ he was efficient enough outside (36.5% at 3P) but not inside (47% at 2P) 3/ He's a roleplayer, if you don't give him the ball at the right spot to shoot it, well... he'll not score magicaly. 4/ 50% of BB is played on D where he was the only one, not named Wembanyama, with every D metrics positive
Charles Bassey should be let go of instead of Julian and Sandro feel bad for the C but other dudes are young players who deserve another chance while first guy suffered back to back season ending injuries and I think they will be fine without him
I wanna see Castle go off. I know he is trying to show off his playmaking but when the rest of the team is playing like... Whatever last night was... I'd love to see Castle get selfish and showcase his scoring
But spurs have best development staff that was here 6+ years again long gone 🤦♂️🤷♂️kawhi was the exception not the reality... that's why they shouldn't have wasted 4th pick on castle🤦♂️🤷♂️but he did lose alot weight in sidy defense 😅 but castle TBD
@@TSRSports50 I root for them too until they show us that they are not capable of playing at this level. We then need to cut our losses. Our Spurs, often times, waste too much valuable time attempting to train up guys who aren’t very good just because we have an elite training staff. That time would be better served with players who show a higher ceiling and potential. There’s too many really good athletes out there to waste time on those who show us they don’t have the mind or physical attributes to play in the NBA.
Wait spurs paid 18 million for a washed up Harrison Barnes than have to pay him 19 mill next year this is another Doug McDermott deal all Barnes do is shoot the ball nothing else smh I like the cp3 signing n drafting Castle but other than that this team is making some head scratching moves … over paying a washed up Barnes trading Dillingham for nothing this will be another 22 to 25 win season
No love for the future draft picks they got from what are typically bad franchises? Also, Dillingham is a 6ft 165 shooter. Unless he’s AI reincarnated, that ain’t gonna work.
Spurs got a unprotected 1st round pick in 2031 from the Kings who most likely will not be a very good team and Wemby will be in his prime. Spurs is quietly gathering 1st round picks they already have 3 in 2030 and beyond that they can use in a trade to add a Star without having to give up the Hawks picks.
Casu' takes. He's the 2nd best D on the Spurs Roster and he can shoot. A real young 3&D with a good salary and you want to get rid of him? for what? to have less shooting? to suck more on D? to be able to tank more?
