Thank you for the military remembrances. My dad was in Vietnam. He will be 80 soon. In the last couple years, he has mentioned a few of his experiences. Up until then we, his kids, did not even know what branch of the military, he served in. Thank you for your service and the service you continue to provide to those of us that do not understand the sacrifices you made. Blessings

We also love Charleston, but not just for the architecture, history, and hospitality, but also for the cuisine. Charleston is home to some of the finest cuisine in the low country. Low country cuisine is why my mouth waters whenever I think of Charleston.

Navy brat here; dad was on the USS Hancock in Westpac in the early 60s. Circa '79 we saw his ship come into Pensacola, and I'm sad to say I don't know what ship it was. But we were so excited watching him dock, which took forever it seemed. All dressed up in dress whites, it was a sight to see in person, and as a kid. He (we, lol) retired in Maryland after 21 years. Then I worked for a bubble head for a bit- I enjoyed his stories, which were much different from the aircraft carrier stories. Thank you both for your service. Love y'all's videos.

Grew up in Charleston and graduated Summerville H.S. Joined the Navy to see the world, so of course my first two subs were homeported in Charleston. The place is so full of history and most folks who live there have no idea. Lots of great camping and fishing down there. I am just a polywog as my boats never crossed the Arctic Circle or Equator. Thank you both for sharing your experiences in the Navy. Oh, my son graduates Marine Corps Boot Camp in San Diego in 2 weeks. So proud of him!

Golden Shellback, Blue Nose, Order of the Rock (Gibralter), and two trips through the Suez; ETCM(SS/SW/AW) Retired. I've lived in the low country for a total of 20 years now and seen a lot of RU-vid vids of the area but yours is the most thorough and hits the best of the best of things to see and do. Everyone misses out on showing the slavery past of Charleston. While it can be disturbing, it needs to be viewed as part of historical Charleston -- it adds context to the stately homes and plantations which show the elegance of the area. Bravo Zulu to all hands.

I retired here to Charleston in 1997 after my 22 years. I was a Tender sailor (MRCS) so I never got the chance to cross the Equator so yes, a Polywog I am. And no Stacey, I did not have the Chief belly. LOL. You did a great job with your tour. Over the past 25 years I have had the opportunity to visit every place you showed. It is a great place to live. I'm thinking about selling the house and moving on the road in my old Class A Bounder. A very tough decision. Keep up the great work shipmates!

We visited Charleston and stayed at the Famcamp for two nights last June. Very nice campground and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We visited the Yorktown and then ate at a couple of the restaurants downtown, which were very good. Also shopped at the flea market. My brother was on a carrier and I believe he's a Shellback. I was Air Force and never went below the equator, though I made several airborne forays above the arctic circle and I still have my Bluenose Certificate given by those wonderful Navy folks in Iceland. Two of our other siblings were Army.

the boat at 14:00 is a pbw4 36 footer, my dads company harbor boat building and fter commerica marine made a total of 175 boats starting in '68 till 75. twin diesels gmc 400 hp 2 to 1 gearing . i have 1 copy , in the family boat to have forever, she has twin diesels 400 hp and 1 1/2 gears cruise at 25 tops at 34mph. the warships had twin 30 cal guns in front and 1 single 50 cal in the rear with 600 mini splits rockets of napalm . these boats were a copy design of the 36' captain gig minis the keel, and built lighter and lined with kavlar material for protection of the haul and upper cover, i know i delievered 25 on the deck of the U.S.S. RANGER at the end of the war 1974 . and the huey helicotors labeled THE COORS CAN IN THE SKY?

One of my fave movies is “The Final Countdown” USS Nimitz goes back to just before Pearl Harbor attack in 1941. Under Siege is good too. Though I am Army and love a couple of those, such as The Green Berets with John Wayne.
