So Much To Tell You 

Loved seeing Potty mouth back again and yes it won't be the same without Steve fidgeting in his chair and getting up to mischief, but I'm sure Steve would be glad to see us all having our weekly laugh while we learn from you and your guests. We all miss Steve but you have shown him respect by cancelling the club for a while and also while you yourself have recovered from your op, but although Steve's empty chair will always be there, the best respect is to carry on and have fun just as the club was set up for, and in a way this is Steve's memorial.

So happy to hear potty mouths coming back !!! Steve will be missed but he’ll be happy it’s back! Get Jessie on I love it when she’s on ! ❤️xx

Tony Cut the lid from the outside to the hole and stop. You should be able to twist the lid around the stem once you have plated the chilly into the pot. This would mean the lid stays as one piece.

With the covers, if it feels like the plants going to snap bending it through the hole, I'd try cutting one in half with a jigsaw cos it'll still clip on to the pot, and can be used like a collar round the stem.

I think you're worrying unnecessarily, plants are pretty resilient, you'll be able to fold up and force through fine.

hi tony use the leg of wifes tights slide up over the plants this will make it easy to fit throu hole and not damage plants

How big is the.pot that you grow them in, will it fit through the hole ? Or will the root ball fit through 👍

Wrap the plant in news paper and feed it through. It does work.

Hi Tony, thise lids for you quadro pots will be fine, they look b8g enough to get your leaves through. Just make sure they are of medium size before you put them on. Don't ho on the Internet at 3am in the morning 😂 you are funny. You are looking really well too. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

bacause the lids are a nice fit i would cut the lid in two, when its fitted to the quad grow run a bead of silicon along the cut no damage to the plant

i would use a hacksaw or a slitting disc on a grinder to cut in half as they kinda fit nice n snug anyways 🤔

do the lids sna into place? if so could you make a slit on one side, like those cabbage collars? otherwise not bubble wrap but pallet plastic wrap, not sure what it's called , you can't trasplant it either as the rootballs won't fit. but slide it around it might work, and you could even attempt to saw it in half if they still stay in place. I don't have these things and not sure what the lid does but a little channel/slit shouldn't do any harm. good luck

Those lids look ideal to me .They are easy to place young plants into ,they provide darkness to prevent weed seeds griwing , they offer a degree of protection from bugs,they keep squirrels from digging up your plants.they help retain some of the moisture.and you could tape clear plastic attached to canes around the sides of the lid to provide a mini cloche effect when the temperatures are just not high enough .

Tony the way i work it is before placing the cap on, plant your plant including the pot its growing in firmly in the quad grow pot then twist and remove place the protection lid on remove your plant from pot and place through the cap into the perfectly sized planting hole it fits perfectly water in slightly to fill any air pockets hope that helps

Hate to say it but that's why I didn't buy those tops for my eight .My routine is sow feb/march indoors.Plant out end of April ,soak capillaries before pushing through pots ,tie string around mats and up to canes running lengthways along greenhouse then add a bit of compost. Holding the pointed end of mat, plant ,tomatoes,peppers deep removing lower leaves .Or level with compost for chillies..At that stage you should be able to push plant through mulch cap hole but ..... .I just add a handful of hort gravel to top as I don't want to damage young leaves . Great idea but bad design unfortunately.

Tony I would put the lids over in chill plants when they are small and in individual pots. Then, when putting them in their final position use a same size pot to make a hole in the quad. Then pop in.

With the lids, can you not cut a channel out from one of the edges into the centre. And then cover the channel with black tape or weed membrane once plants are in. Make channel wide enough to slide onto stalk or be able to twist slightly.

Funnily enough I ordered the mulch collars when I got my Quadgrows. I've got two so eight pots in all. I've never actually used the collars. My original plan when I got my greenhouse was to heat it for the beginning of the season but unfortunately due to the stratospheric rise in electricity I sacked this idea and so by the time the last frosts were over my plants looked too big to go through the hole in them. I think I might try the idea suggested below to cut them and use silicone. The Quadgrows make watering so easy and I've been extremely happy with them but using the collars should ensure the reservoirs last even longer. On another note in year two I decided to use a popular seaweed based fertiliser to replace the one provided with the Quadgrows. Big mistake. The stench coming from the greenhouse when the weather warmed up was indescribable. Well without using expletives anyway 😬 I managed to resolve the problem by flushing the reservoirs out and changing the fertiliser. Looking forward to the next Potty Mouth!

woohoo Potty Mouth is back ! Those lids look like a great idea at first but the holes are quite small. Be interesting to see if they work for you ☺

Two suggestions - keep them in smaller pots until ready to go out so the footballs small enough to go through the hole, or plant out earlier and wrap in fleece?

I would think wrap them like a Xmas tree when u buy them fresh. Or you can try and feed one branch at a time through the hole? Good luck with those lids Tony

I would use small pots with base cut out, place over chilli seedlìngs making sure top of pot is at least size of the hole in those lids, the chillis will find their way up and out.

Can you not put those lids on the chillies when they're still in small enough pots that they can go in roots first. I imagine it would take up a fair bit of room though and a right pain to transport upto the allotment

You could feed the tops into a plastic bottle with the bottom cut off, then feed it through the hole.

Grow your chilli's in 3 inch pots and then the root ball should go through the hole in the cover,, no need for the bubble wrap if you put the root ball through the hole,, 😂😂

I suspect you're meant to put your plants into the quadgrows when they're still small.

Just cut a sliver just bigger than what the stems get on the side without cane holes.That way they still hold rigidity but can just slot around the stem.

Wrap your plant in a sleeve of polythene, then pull it through. I used to do that with plants in baskets with narrow holes.
