Probably the roughest song for me to listen to anymore. I've read his book and I've been a super huge fan so here are the beautiful but unfortunate facts. The first verse of this song is dedicated to Willow.. how he feels he's a burden to her and always gone but he wants her to know that he's always right here no matter what even if he's dead or alive and that he will always come home...... but the second verse..... they were on tour and Derek Jones got the worst phone call he could get and was told his wife was dying very quickly from cancer so he immediately stopped the tour and Derek flew home...( don't die my dear, I'm coming home ) it was a rough few days but Derek's wife passed..... her passing ultimately sent Derek in a terrible downward spiral and drank every ounce of pain away that he could.... the drinking eventually caught up and the pain of heartbreak and drinking killed him..... so the second verse is what Ronnie interpreted for Derek. I think as a way for Derek to cope during that time.... Carry on was the ( B ) side to this song btw
Thank you! I couldn’t quite figure it out cuz it seemed like two different people or two perspectives or something… This helps it make way more sense to me. I was just belting this out til it made sense…
Thanks for that insight. I just got into FIR last year. It was weird I happened onto Popular Monster and could relate so much I just spent days replaying that song about four days in what Happens they release Watch the World Burn and then I just dove in was really loving their stuff and then saw the video to Drugs. I am a doe hard maggot and seen Slipknot 6 times over their career and even Stone Sour. So all of a sudden there is Corey Taylor amping the song up from out of nowhere. That did it I went saw them May at Sonic Temple and then in July for the opening night of the headlining tour and even got to meet Ronnie after the show. Anyway Coming Home is one of my favs probably top 3 and knew it was supposed to be for Willow but had never heard that about Derek. I didn't know Ronnie had a book I will be getting that asap. Thanks again for the info.
He wrote it for his daughter Willow. She is also in some of his videos. So she knows from a young age what her father does and why he has to leave her every now and then, but he will always come home to her. He knows, through his mother, what it feels like to be abandoned and he doesn't want his daughter to ever have to feel that. He assures her that no matter where he is, he is always with her and will never leave her. Many fathers did not have this opportunity and had to leave their beloved children behind. My older daughter is one of those kids and I wish he would come home to her every damn day, but he won't, because he was killed when she was still little. I want the song for my funeral because my death is a “coming home” for me. Simply a beautiful song 🖤🎶🎧
This song always gets me. Sure, Ronny can compose great music, but the feelings he can transmit by simply perfectly utilising his voice is just incredible.
My brother and I were talking about Ronnies voice just few days ago and how he can evoke so much emotion you can't help but feel it. I was trying to think of other singers that can do it to that degree and the name that came to me was actually Amy Lee she also has that ability to just stir emotions within the listener. Both amazing singers.
Ronnie said this album didn't do well, but it's hard for me to see that. This, as a complete album, is my favorite from Falling In Reverse. Great reaction guys! ❤
As a daughter who doesn't have a good relationship with her father, this song hits me really hard. Like, I'm talking the whole tears and trying to not fall apart kind of hitting.
So happy y'all finally reacted to it! 🤘 "Bad at Life" is another favorite off the album I think y'all would enjoy! Happy New Year's guys! Looking forward to watching y'all in 2024 and the new upcoming FIR song before their tour starts, Ronnie said it's gonna blow our minds bros!! 🤘♥️
I feel like it’s been soo long!!! I miss seeing you guys reacting to Ronnie! Also think the whole coming home album is react worthy. One of my favorite albums.
Oh, goodness-this song means a lot to me and is hard for me to listen to at times. It’s one of my top Ronnie songs for sure. I’m so glad you guys finally checked it out! There’s so many more gems on this album. Please check out ‘Loser’ next!
Usually any song titled ‘Coming Home’ is a good one and has meaning or emotion behind it. Also, this album doesn’t get much recognition but I think it’s some of Ronnie’s finest work and holds up really well.
From what I’ve heard, he wrote it for Willow because he barely saw her due to his touring and his seperation/divorce(?) from Willows mother. But I’m not 100% sure if that’s true. Would make sense, though. Great reaction, you guys! And great way to end the year! Much love and hugs ❤ Oh and if you want more of Ronnies more introspective vibes, do I don’t mind. It’s amazing
Last Falling in Reverse song with a music video attached ✅ This song shared space with Superhero and F*** You and All Your Friends while Right Now came with the Deluxe Version of the “Coming Home” album and Carry On was one of the cut songs that Ronnie released way later due to popular request! This album shows off the side of FIR that you don’t see very often, and that’s with regards to a “cleaner” sound… more straight forward vocals, and a good majority of the songs have powerful meaning behind them! Would definitely love to see more FIR, and more from this album too! I could, and want to, list every song for reaction, but I’ll stick to I Don’t Mind, I’m Bad at Life, and Loser being the top 3 that you guys should listen to off of this particular album! Love it guys! Thanks for reacting to this one!!
Best way to end this year, watching your reaction to Falling in Reverse. This is my favorite FIR album, very cohesive rock album. You have already reacted to a few songs of this one: Carry On, F*ck You And All Your Friends, Superhero, Right Now. My favorites are I Don't Mind (about his mother, emotional), The Departure, Straight To Hell (no music videos). Can't wait for your next reactions. Happy New Year!
Great reaction lads. Happy New Year from Aus 🇦🇺 🎉 Have loved watching you blokes this year. Keep up the good work. Also from this album: Straight To Hell. It’s a bloody beauty, and strikes a chord with me lyrically where someone has recently tried to pull me down but in the end, as Ronnie says, I Will prevail! Would love to see you react to that one 🙏 Now I’m off to take my Christmas decorations down 😂😂😂👏
glad you guys finally reacted to this. they have some good songs from the Coming Home album. you can react to I don't mind he wrote that about his mother, broken, loser, straight to hell, and hanging on
This was great. To me this is the best album they've ever done and I really want you guys to react to Loser, Straight To Hell and I Don't Mind 🙏🤘 Happy New Year everyone 😊
absolutely great reaction, thank you! it was so touching when you analyzed the end of the video, brings me to tears everytime I let myself into the emotions it conveys. so much the more many people don't even get whats happening there in the end. This song Coming Home, as Ronnie said in his book, has been worked on 2 years time. The whole album reflects a kind of existential crisis Ronnie was getting through at that time. I think, as about the whole album, it's the most deep, sensitive and emotional creation of his so far. a real masterpiece.
Great reaction!! Love FIR ❤ Sending you guys the very best of wishes from the UK and looking forward to what's in store in 2024!! Cheers fellas!! 🍻🥳🤟🎊🎉
So glad you guys did this one! This is definitely an underrated album. I just love how Ronnie can take you on a journey, even without a video, just by the emotion he pours into everything he does and how he can make you really feel all of it through the music and lyrics. Like obviously he's incredibly talented, but for me its the way the music makes me feel, even if it's the hundreth time I'm listening to a song, I still feel his emotion and it effects me so deeply every time. That's what makes me love him so much! ❤
This entire album is my favourite from FIR. A lot of highly emotional songs… if you do go through any more, would be cool to hear “straight to hell” and “I don’t mind”.
This song is actually my morning alarm. I remember hearing it a few years ago when I was making a move to a different town and the message just hit me. Been a big fan of the band ever sense.
The fact that we can feel how Ronnie feels when he makes these music videos and the music! He can relate to his audiences and show he is not only lyrically capable but emotionally as well! I love Ronnie and his music since escape the fate days! My number one artist and that won’t change!
the sentiment of this song. singing this to his daughter....it reminds me of a song decades ago where a rock guy showed his softer side and put out a song to his wife that was very similar....Ozzy Osborne: Mama I'm Coming Home
Ohhhh, this was different... and I hear it for the first time exactly 6 years after losing my Daddy. I'm okay though... just brought back memories of him traveling with his job when we were kids. Sometimes he would be gone for 3 or 4 weeks and we got a phone call once a week if I remember correctly. Those were the days of long distance phone calls costing big bucks! Great one, guys.
Besides the ones you've already done. Broken, Hanging On, I Hate Everyone and I'm Bad At Life are all great. Love to see more from their first album too.
with the solar flares from the sun raising all of our frequencies higher collectively and how they might give us an emp effect soon, i swear Ronnie knows what's going on where most have no idea. i love it. i am onw who knows as well. raise your spirit, hone your gifts and raise your vibration and truth becomes more easily discerned from lies.
I was absolutely called out about the decorations 😂 I’m glad I went back through your channel to catch up on some reactions! This is a great song and might be my favorite by FIR, maybe tied with Carry On. It’ll be good to go deeper into their stuff with y’all. I don’t know enough of their discography so I’m looking forward to your next FIR reaction. 😃
