I love the idea that, upon finding Dedede's corpse where he had fallen in battle, Kirby's immediate course of action was to snap a picture of the scene to commemorate the occasion.
"You heard of a massage? How about acupunture?" "Oh, so the sky is anxiety-coloured now? That's nifty!" "Kirby's driven all over this world, but there's one piece of forgotten land that we haven't trampled on yet: your face!" I swear, Failboat would be such a memorable character in a shonen anime
He would be the jokey comic relive type character. That in the end will actually be the strongest character in the world but is balanced out because he just can't figure how to use his powers right. Kind of like that one guy in Jojo part 4 with the HAND stand.
I love how different Dedede is when he's being controlled vs when he's not. When he's being mind controlled he's callously tossing Waddle Dee's into cages, when he's free he instantly risks his life for one.
King Dedede really was like “I used to gather food to eat but I recognize my Waddle Dees so much that I must become a legitimate King for my Waddle Dees who gather my food for me”
The lab rat theory is most definetly true, and you can see that from the bosses themselves. The names of Fecto Forgo and Fecto Elfilis may as well be their taxonomic classification (the scientific name, like felis catus for the cat). Elfilin may gotten its name from its species, which could be Elfilis.
Aren't those names derived from latin? Has anyone tried translating them? Edit: Had a quick look on google translate (Don't judge me) and apparently 'fecto' means completed or completely (Something along those lines). If people want me to, I could keep digging. I could look through a couple online dictionaries and I know a couple people who are studying latin who I could ask.
Leave it to Kirby to go from defeating dark gods with the power of friendship one game to murdering the ultimate life form with vehicular manslaughter the next.
Gotta say, as scary as Fecto Forgo was, I'm not sure if it can contend with the sheer terror I felt seeing a mouth photoshopped onto the Waddledee in the elevator cutscene or whatever that was
@@heyimhere5920first we had Dark Matter infect a Waddle Dee and give it a big eye Now we're gonna see Dark Matter infect a Waddle Dee and give it a big *mouth!*
I wish that Failboat made more edited videos of this game other than just the beginning and the finale because I do not have it in me to watch full streams and Failboat’s videos are SO GOOD…
Isn't it weird how nearly _EVERYONE_ thought Elfilin would betray Kirby, yet, out of all of Kirby's allies that came to him for help, only _TWO_ of them did? Like, did people seriously forget about the animal buddies, Gooey, Adoline, Ribbon, Prince Fluff, and Eline?
My favorite part of this game's finale is that it confirms that in the world of Kirby, Optimus Prime would be able to beat Sephiroth in a fight Nah, but seriously, I don't blame Fail for feeling frightened by Fecto Forgo, HAL once again proved that they make some of the most insane video game finales ever, and I absolutely love it, this game's just incredible
Gods the final bosses were horrific. Fecto Forgo is literally Nature's Mockery from Gemini Home Entertainment (the ANALOG HORROR series) And the Ultimate Lifeform reminds me of the Undertale pacifist ending, mainly the attacks. It even has the weird curving homing shots that phase 2 of Asriel has, it's uncanny.
The creepiest part about Kirby lore is that it only ever shows up in the endgame. The advertisement, merchandise, all Kirby Content in the Smash series never really acknowledges how deeply disturbing and the final bosses are. And the devs themselves mainly stay silent on it. In fact, they said they were worried about the setting of an abandoned city being to disturbing for children. Clearly they weren't worried when they came up with the concept of Fecto Forgo...
I love Fail’s arc of using the space ranger gun. Going from “Yeah maybe we shouldn’t use this broken ability” to “OH GOD GIVE ME FIVE OF THESE THINGS RIGHT NOW”
"I-Ive never been truly creeped out by a Kirby game before but, OOOOOOOOOOHHHGH! THAT CHANGED *REAL* QUICK!" Fully imagining some Tex Avery levels of facial expression with that line, like some over the top Bugs Bunny reaction.
I love the ending with the truck, because it truly embraces the energy of Kirby games, like this world ending goddling abomination *thing* is trying to end the words and Kirby is just, a friend shaped ball of "redilous" who saves the world with the power of loving his friend and believing he can. He truly saw that truck and his internal dialog was probably something like "that'll work and my friend can help me" and then it just did. I love it so much
Genuinely i almost teared up when he said thank you for everything in my playthrough, like... this whole time ive givin you nothing, i attacked you at every opportunity. Tried leaving whenever the game told me to save you, and yet here you are still saving the world with a hopeful smile on your face thanking the person most suspicious of you... if the game didnt have postgame and the ending was just that i think i would have cried.
I admit before finishing this [game myself], I never thought about the terms "to forgo" and "to forget" as related. I guess both are clearly put out of mind, but for something to be forgone, it has the implication that it was forgone intentionally, whereas being forgotten sounds out of one's control, either by failing to remember or by neurological conditions. Sorry if this etymology is too deep for a ha ha funny Failboat Carby [But With GUN] video, but I did find it interesting....
I love how the ending of this game can be summarized in images of: Any anthro lion in animated media like Lionheart or Alex, Shadow the Hedgehog, Mewtwo in a test vat, B.O.B. from Monsters VS Aliens, an Archangel/One-Winged Angel, and Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.
Things we never wanted: Fecto forgo to open its eyes,Fecto efilies to come closer to the screen,Elfilin to get captured, Yep looks like a Kirby game to me
10:38 I'm both laughing and crying. My man Failboat picking the perfect character to think was the secret villain. Only to have his heart ripped in half at the ending.
Ironically...the first one; Kirby's Dreamland. Pretty sure that one literally is just about beating up Dedede because he stole all the food in Dreamland. Then Dreamland 2 introduces Dark Matter and Zero and the series turning into fighting eldrich abominations out of nowhere for final battles.
Well, this was my first kirby game and I beat it a few hours before this was uploaded. I am also happy to announce that this was my last Kirby game because it can only get more disturbing from here. All jokes aside, this game is absolutely beautiful, adorable and will continue to haunt my nightmares
Kirby has to be the most pure (well mostly), adorable, incredible game to have ever existed and it baffles me that such an adorable (mostly) game, got it’s first fear rating Gg Kirby
#Failboat #Lore I've just noticed something when I looked the intro to this game again, and i'm sure you and others noticed this as well. When everyone on Popstar gets sucked into the star-shaped portal, the inside of it looks exactly like the Another Dimension in Kirby's Return to Dreamland(KRtD). And considering that the portals are created from Elfilis, him and the "Tech Ancients" could have a connection to Magolor and his Lor Starcutter. I think you might've even mentioned somewhere before, like on Mouthfools or something, that Magolor was connected to the "Tech Ancients". In KRtD, Magolor's Lor Starcutter is able to create the same portals that Elfilis can make, which seems way too coincidental. I believe that this proves that the "Tech Ancients" did disappear to Planet Popstar, the Lor Starcutter was made by the "Tech Ancients", and that Magolor is possibly one of the only "Tech Ancients" that is left.
6:19 “I mean I would love to go but is look pretty delicious, I mean it didn’t look good while it was movin but now that it’s still, just give me a straw and I’ll drink it like a slushy.” Fail Kirby 2022
I like the fake out of Elfilin being technically good when everyone else thought it was going to be bad and betray, and then they just make you feel bad for not trusting it with that ending cutscene.
I’m incredibly interested in the direction they take future Kirby games after this. I wouldn’t mind at all if Elfilin becomes a mainstay. I hope they balance between making 2d and 3d kirby games from here on out though, like zelda
I think this might be the best Kirby game in recent years. A nice change from the 2D formula, gorgeous graphics, a sick looking villain, I loved every second of it.
*WARNING: THE CONTENT OF THIS COMMENT IS RATHER HORRIFYING, PROCEED WITH CAUTION.* 6:09 Me: "This feels quite familiar, It's probably just deja vu." My friend who is secretly a SCP Foundation employee: *VIETNAM WAR FLASHBACK TO WHEN THE SUN WAS MELTING PEOPLES SKIN* My friend: "Yeah, It's definitely deja vu."
kirby finales tend to be wacky but this one was honestly more "out-of-left-field" than Star Allies, and Star Allies not only had a literal cult, it had SQUIDWARD
3:34 at this point of the game I knew that the first letter of each world's names would have something to do with an ost in the game yeah it's N-E-W W-O-R-LD (the worlds are in order)
At 3:22 "Dedede, what are you doing?" "What a king must do" Later "You will be remembered as king who died... for nothing!" "For Dreamland!" And then Dedede blew up, the end. Edit: spelling errors
“Kirby’s driven all over this world but there’s one piece of forgotten land that we haven’t trampled yet… YOUR FACE!” What god granted failboat the ungodly power to just think those words
Failboat just remind me that we almost have the darkest ending for any kirby story possible. If Elfilin die thing would get really dark. King Dedede,Meta Knight and Waddle Dee town would stuck in forgotten land forever. Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee can’t do anything about it because they have no single clue about dimensional jumping, their new friend just die and Kirby rival, Mentor and friends are stuck in the another world where Their voice can’t even reach each other. Kirby might be able to kill any god exist, But there will always be something that he can’t do without his friend
