Welcome back to Hearts of Iron 4 on the Alex the Rambler channel. So they added a 1919 HOI4 start date? Well there's one in the Great War Mod so let's play as Germany as see where it takes us!

It's pronounced "Veimar", in German we don't have an equivalent sound to the English "W", so a German "W" is always pronounced like a "V" if it's the first letter of a word

One mistake in the mod straight ahead. The country Sarre (it Saarland in German) is missing. Was sliced off Germany after the first big kerfuffle and send under overview of the league of nations. Has an interesting story the little country, especially as France and Germany have been fighting over for centuries like Ellsas&Lothringen (Elsace Lorraine)

@@SuperWiggler It was demilitarised right in the beginning, but since Alex declared war on Poland without taking the focus "Rhineland", it was automatically remilitarised, just like what happens in vanilla Hoi4.

I'm pretty sure the Saarland only became independent in 1920, and since this mod starts in 1919 not having it is historical.

This mod is definitely treating the interwar period as an afterthought. Might be interesting to actually code a proper one which just starts in 1919 straight up, no AH until then.

@@ProbsNotLiam I was told that depending on the way a name/word in used in German depends on whether it is Low or High German, but some names are Pronounced in "Imperial German" coming from the Holly Roman Empire through to The German Empire.

The different start dates in this mod make me wish they'd update the Endsieg mod 'cuz that mod was kind of insane (I think there are, like, some mods that try to make it compatible with the current version, but that isn't quite what I mean).

I will say I love this game so much but I am very bad at it. So bad that I rarely find the patience to play without using cheats. Yesterday I used a great guide and had a very successful domination with Germany with no cheats used. Very satisfying. Proud of myself lol.

Glad to see you back Alex! Recently I played as El Salvador to reunify the United States of Central America, flipped to democratic, and helped beat up Germany in Africa. You can also time it right to get a kerfuffle goal against Venezuela before you flip to add a bit more of a local theatre

My best playthrough was using a mod where the Weimar Republic never fell. I ended up being a largely peaceful Germany, joined the Allies, gave Poland Tiger 1s to fend off the Soviets, started a democratic coup in the USSR and gave them upgraded Tiger 1s, retook the Rhineland with full permission and approval from France, helped England beat up Finland for some reason, and became the only nuclear power in the world.

The name of the state was never "Weimar Republic". It was Deutsches Reich. "Weimar republic" is just a term by historians for the sake of order.
