Similar motivational techniques apply for writing, drawing, leathercraft, jewelry, and chain maille body armor.

Man I love your videos! And to whoever said you're not the greatest painter or w/e boo on them. Your paint job on the rats has been amazing! Those cloaks pop and I can't wait to see the whole army done.

Best has always been a matter of opinion. Look at all the people who fight over who the greatest classical painter is. Is it Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Monet? 500 years from now and they'll still be fighting over it. Some opinions are just plain wrong, though. He is not trying to be the greatest damned painter in the world but Paintman Journeying is undeniably talented. To say he isn't that great is plainly said just to be a trolling asshat. People that say crap like that are unworthy of concern.

Lots of great advice. I keep my setup ready at the drop of a hat and pristine clean so it's inviting. Then I make a goal of just painting for 10minutes. With that I'll carry on for hours usually. Really loving this format. It's been great seeing the ratmen process and listening to thoughts and ideas. ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥

I dropped out of the hobby twice because I couldn't face painting another pair of orc boy pants. That's when I decided that if you don't enjoy the models then it isn't a hobby. Also I switched to painting batches of 10 or 12 minis instead of painting in too much of an industrial scale. BTW, your white rats look amazing.

I have been recently plugging away at my Relicblade collection trying to get everything I have painted up. My reward for getting a group of characters done is I go out to my LGS and play a few games using the solo rules. I get to roll dice and look at a board with nice terrain I have built and fully painted pieces. The experience feels "complete" to me when I get too play a game with what I have painted.

man I love dwarves, for both the painting and lore that comes with them. the only army that I've really had a hard time painting was robot legions and Necrons, they are both cool armies but something about them made me feel like I was painting forever. awesome stuff man have a awesome day.

When feeling burnout painting an army. Me: paint something else from one of my 9 other armies XD.

This. Having multiple stuff to paint is why I feel like I can go back to the stuff where I got burnt out because I felt like I was basically doing the same model ~100 times.

^This. I don't know if I could have gotten as many of my Fallen or Drukhari done as I have if I hadn't been alternating between the two of them. And bouncing around the various Kruleboyz units from the Dominion box was how I managed to paint the whole set over last Orktober. It always feels fresh when you're tackling a unit of something, versus your fifth unit of that same army in a row.

What's the beige resin you're printing with?
@PaintmanJourneying
@PaintmanJourneying Год назад
It's a water washable from A Canadian source that was called PolyJuice. I say was because unfortunately it looks like they've just dropped resin entirely from their website. But the reason I got the red-orange over grey resins was because I actaully find it better for casting shadows on it'self and allowing me to see the details for the cleanup stage. So it's not about resin choice but colour choice and a beige/orange-red/skin seems to be really good for cleanup.

Love your videos. This is timely, I've decided to tackle my pile of shame in order of increasing collection size and I'm stuck lacking motivation to finish a particular model. I also love seeing more OPR content. I'm excited to get my first printer when my tax return gets in. Their ratmen might actually get me to dip my toes into AoF. I notice you mix colors then put the final mix into a gob of medium before applying it. Is that just matte medium or something else?
@PaintmanJourneying

It's Maxx Matt medium from green stuff world. But any thinner or medium would work. It's just to thin the consistency of the paint without too much water at the start. I prefer painting in matte so like the Maxx Matt for it.

I think setup is also important. I haven't painted as much because I have a small desk and hate having to remove everything on it (usually work stuff) and setting up a paint station. A workstation that is setup and easily return to and pick up the model, for even a short session, is huge

This is very true too, I have a separate desk but with my camera stuff up it's sometimes a pain to get into, and it definitely affects me wanting to move over and sit down.

Are you using a simple paper towel as the paper for your wet palette? Doesn't that absorb the paint too? Or no? I ask because I use the palette paper that comes with mine but I'm close to running out and don't want to buy more, heh.
@PaintmanJourneying
@PaintmanJourneying Год назад
Yes and no. I use Parchment paper, but I put it on top of paper towel which is on top of the sponge. It's know as guiding paper and acts as a barrier to pull up an even amount of moisture into the paper. I did a video on it for more detail: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZBVXIGplwM0.html Unfortunately just didn't have enough time between shots to get a shot of the parchment paper going down too.
