Been listening to Kind of Blue at least once a week for nearly 50 years. It is the perfect album that never grows old. The one person that made the comment calling it ‘extremely boring’ must just be a soulless human.

What exactly defines a call vs answer? Is it simply the ordering, namely, call comes first and then answer? Or is there also melodic elements that differ between them, such as using more extensions and unstable tones in the call and resolving to the root and using other tones like the 6th which have a resolving feeling in dorian as well?

Great lesson. What would be the harmony/chords under the D Dorian Eb Dorian solos? Are they inversions of Dmin7/Ebmin7 or are there other diatonic chords used within the mode?

@@RichieZellon Hi again. Is it predominantly Im- IIm in modal progressions? Like in the D dorian phrases and solos, the chords you say would be Dm7-Em7 that are played under the solo. Or would the harmony be a little more adventurous? Or, is the idea to keep it minimal when playing accompaniment?
