From Steve in MD--Been wondering if the trucks came with the property!!! When you get bored with the property projects, a diversion to the trucks, may be perfect motivation to get back at it. Awesome--toy projects!!!

I'm really liking your content. Get that F150s transmission checked out. I had a flashback to a 1999 F150 work truck that was doing the flashing overdrive light. It was the oldest vehicle we had. This was around 2009. Kept bugging the boss for 3 weeks about it. There were no symptoms until I was 2 and half hours from our shop, managed to make it back and it failed spectacularly. 🤣

I love old beat up pick up trucks. They were the first thing I noticed when I saw your other videos. When my dad passed is 1999, I inherited his old 1989 Ford Ranger. You couldn’t kill that truck. I kept it for several years then donated it to a charity. Wish I still had it.

my truck had the z24 throttle body fuel injection on it and they started making it in late 1985 during the cross over years from the 720 trucks to the d21. I converted my d21 from the z24 fuel injection the the webber carb and I worked amazing but I have to get smaller jets because it runs rich. But anyway here is the name of a tutorial video that I used when I installed my kit. (Webber carborator conversion on a 1987 nissan pathfinder vg301) the video is for a v6 but the concept/process is the same for a 4 cylinder. Just make shure to plug all the vacuum lines that will no longer be used

Check the vacuum lines for cracks/breaks after a visual and wiggle inspection use something like brake clean to spray vacuum lines and listen for the running engine to change rpms. A large vacuum leak will cause engine to stall. Be careful not to spray the distributor or alternator (sparks). I own an 87 isuzu truck with a weber kit and swear by both far more than I swear at them. Consider getting a small tractor with the proceeds of your f150. A gray market yanmar, kubota, hinomoto, mitsubishi etc to augment the hft trencher.
@patr10t762
@patr10t762 Месяц назад
My 1994 isuzu pickup presented the same problem of not idling. It was the egr vacuum pot. I see it is a pricey part for a d21. Look for ways to delete the system.

I am sorry people are kinda judgmental. Pay them no mine. As to the F150 tailgate handle does not work, if open the panel on the inside of the gate you can see the little nub has worn loose. For the idle use some sea foam to remove the build up. The fifth mount makes me worry about transmission and engine burden.
@marchingmoto
@marchingmoto 2 месяца назад
Thanks, the rough idle cleared up a lot when i put a fresh tank of gas in it. May have mostly just been bad gas. I’m sure I’ll be able to see what’s wrong with the tailgate when i take that panel off i just haven’t had time to

Fixed up, most everything working, you'll have two $500 trucks. They're both worn out high mileage rigs that will never amount to much. Get what you can out of them "as is" and move on. You've got bigger fish to fry. Sadly it makes me wonder about how you think something is a good deal. Not hating here, just bad decision making. I was a diesel truck and equipment mechanic for 25 yrs. I would have never given those things a second look.
@marchingmoto
@marchingmoto 2 месяца назад
Kbb on the f150 in fair condition, which is the worst they allow you to put it as is $3,000. What you value it at and real world are different numbers. Fb marketplace comparisons are the same or more.

@Captain-Max

When it comes to investing your hard earned money, be it cars, trucks, motorcycles, or houses, only buy when you can turn it over tomorrow for a profit. It's only a deal when you have a huge safety margin at the start with minimal risk. Your financial world could collapse tomorrow, requiring drastic action to stay afloat. It happened most recently in 2008 when I scored my best deal on a foreclosure, but it also happened in 1980 when the economy collapsed back home in Minnesota when I got laid off repeatedly and had to sell things. Prepare for the worst of times and put yourself in a position to take advantage of the situation rather than becoming a victim.
