I assumed it just used Death Power on Players' Damage. Like "I will KILL your wounds, to bring back your Health!" "But Reaper-san that's not how healing works! That's not how ANY of this works!!"
@@TheAyanamiRei My headcanon is that they steal time from the universe with their Crest of Time and that allows regeneration through temporal reversion.

I was going through an identity crisis after leveling half my jobs to 90 and I wasn't sure what to play. Thank you so much for this video! I'm even more conflicted now.
I was like you and tbh I think my issue was moreso that I just don't like how the pve in this game is set up all that much. I ended up really liking the new 6.1 pvp though, and play it a ton. So what I've ended up doing is just picking my favorite class in pvp and then carrying that over to pve. Not sure if that's applicable at all to you but it's helped me.
The speeded up jump animations have changed the feel of playing Dragoon from sleepwalking to having ADHD. Before when I pressed the jump button I could go make myself a cup of tea and come back by the time the animation sequence was over. Now my every other attack is a jump since you can just throw one in while your next combo attack is still in gcd.
Really? Last I checked the few jumps we have all have more cooldiwn than using combos takes. Unless there's a new post-60 Jump skill that doesn't have much cooldown that I don't know about.
I prefer ammonia smelling salts with my GNB sessions but yeah. It's like snorting Gfuel and everything is a michael bay movie. We're actually just a black mage a machinist and a samurai all stacked together in one of our dozens of semi-edgy blue trenchcoats.
I heard kaiten mentioned and I blacked out, only coming to realizing my room was torn apart. Posters on the floor, keyboard smashed, bed torn to shreds. Tears covered every inch of the scene, and, as I gained consciousness, the depression that square enix envoked upon me came rushing back, only to leave me sobbing quietly on the ground. A broken, empty husk. So yeah, great video as always Lucy!
For those coming from WoW or other games where there are "wrong job" Fear not, FF14 balance is overall very good and, especially with the last change from this patch which solved a few "annoying quirk" a few jobs had. Every content, can be cleared with any mix of job provided you have one of each role, tank, heal, melee, range, caster. Even healer can actually go as double shield or double pure and clear everything, beside, maybe, ultimate. The only thing that should be relevant in your choosing of a job is your enjoyement. If you play well, you will never be a burden to your team. Similarly no job will compensate your lack of skill. Every jobs are within a few % of each others, and while it is true that a "meta comp" would perform better than one with all the "worst" of each role. That would actually end up being a difference of only a few percent. That can be a deal breaker if you aim for week 1 clear (like world race basically), but in general, a few pieces of gear will offset that easily. Follow your dream, listen to your heart, and do your best. Source: myself, triple legend with almost every weird comp you could dream off because I value the enjoyement of my team.
I have all of the jobs outside the healers at least level 80 at this point (healing really just doesn't interest me so I have no idea when or if I'll level them) and I always return to my Red Mage. All of the classes have fantastic animations, but none are nearly as stylish as Red Mage. I get to flip flop in and out of danger like a melee DPS (specifically Dragoon), I get to cast spells that aren't just really big ass explosions again and again and again (looking at you, Black Mage, who has 85% of their casts some form of explosion), and I also bring quite a bit of party utility. Even when Red Mage was lower on the damage totem, that's the sole job I always gravitate back to.
Machinist is considered the worst class and as a MCH I can say I've actually been top of the enmity list quite a bit. The only place you'd have trouble is high end content and that's more due to the community gatekeeping any MCH players from the raids because of it's lower DPS (it's not actually that much lower and within an understandable statistical range at worst it'll be a little more difficult for High End)
I keep hearing "It has a nacho progression of ramping up the difficulty bit by bit" in regards to Dragoon as a starting job And I still think it makes sense because nachos start easy to eat and slowly get messier.
I love my fellow sprouts. Whenever I see one attuning to the aetheryte in Limsa or Gridana I always throw flowers at them and cheer. Welcome to FFXIV! We have fun here! Nothing is mandatory and everything is encouraged.
For those new or who might want to know what the deal with that "last class" is at 21:17. It's Blue Mage(BLU)! A Caster DPS that can't do content that exceeds lvl70 (At current that's any content from Shadowbringers and Endwalker) or is designated as a "roulette", can only sign up for content with a pre-made party or solo, doesn't learn it's skills through leveling, and is a master class at old content it has access to and content in the open world(they also can't access PVP and a few other things like deep dungeons, basically, if it would require match making, it's a no go for BLU). It's rotation is simple and has quite a bit of DPS when it's rotation is needed. It involves using many stacking buffs and oGCDs at once as well as debuffs on the enemy to maximize damage and then entering a burst phase of high damage moves, and then entering a lower damage "cool down" phase until you can do it again. I say when it's needed for the rotation because the biggest draw of BLU as a class it's ability to insta kill trash enemies with little difficulty. Legitimately it's two button presses maybe one and an entire pack of enemies dies. But beware! These cheap tactics don't work on mightier foes such as some bosses and mid tier enemies. If you want the powerful skills such foes can provide you then your best come prepared! All this how ever is something you will have to work for, as BLU learns it's spells from killing the enemies that have recently used them (and a few unlocked freebies that are gotten for unlocking the class and acquiring a certain amount of achievements like learning a few skills ECT.). Which enemies? Well you gotta kill em and find out!(or look up a list of what gives what on the internet and go through it like a check list, that's okay too!) It's also has it's own set of mini-game repeatable solo instances called "The Masked Carnivale" that add new twists and challenges to the combat system and gives tomestones and other goodies as well al a leader board of the weekly top scores by other player to try and beat. They are the only class that can replace the Healer and tank rolls fully for prolonged periods of time, even whole dungeons and trials(IF you have the right skills learned)! Their aesthetic is best described as "masked stage magician who does daring tricks". Which is appropriate as their biggest tricks are clearing old dungeons on their own and making FATES disappear! It becomes unlock-able after the MSQ for the base game has been completed (you will have seen the credits or bought a skip to an expansion) if you have a class at LVL50, and starts at LVL1. I suggest looking for leveling guides, but all the normal methods of leveling (save those that require you be randomly matched with other people through duty finder) are available. They also get a BOOST to EXP from normal (no fate or guild leves) enemies. I recommend picking it up and unlocking everything on it (it will take you about in afternoon or two in my experience) if you ever need to grind something from the stormsblood expansions or older and want a fresher (and maybe shorter) time of it. ESPECIALLY if you have 4-8 friends willing to help you out with leveling and skill gets. Also if you really like the games solo instance but wished they were more complicated mechanically or re-playable. Tips from an old BLU: if you have the maximum people in your party for an instance, you can "sync" (lowering your level to the dungeons) it and it greatly ups the chance of getting the skill. Also if you have many BLUs in your party trying to get a spell, if one BLU gets it, they ALL get it provided they were alive when the enemy died, were on BLU, and they had attacked the enemy a decent amount of times (4-10).

I love the DRK changes. makes tanking fun again and living dead feels so good with that fat 2000 cure potency. heres my own personal tip for ppl choosing jobs. be a black mage bc nothing as stupid as the kaiten removal will happen to the job bc yoshi p plays it. it may be a bit difficult in certain content but its worth the job stability you wouldnt find in 2020 america
I started the game dual BLM/WHM and honestly, Black Mage spoiled me. Every time I try another class, I’m like “nice appetizers, so where’s the entrée? oh that… was the entrée? ah”
Also black mage is pretty fun to level up. So far mine is level 60, but your rotation updates pretty often on the way Other jobs usually add things on top of it, but black mage adds things *and* changes the rotation. Black mage is cool.
@@Rytom it’s like a remodel every 10 levels. You’re not just getting new marble countertops, you’re getting the whole kitchen expanded by knocking out the back wall
Your defense of DRG's unfair reputation as a floor tank was a Stardiver into my Dragoon Main heart. I've tried to be strong and laugh it off all this time, but at last... Someone speaks up against this injustice. Bless you, Lucy.
To be fair, I think DRG's 'tanking' reputation really stems back from very early FFXI, where SE wasted it's 2 hour ability on its Wyvern summon, which was fixed later, but it and a case of armor not being hard enough for heavy damage mitigation, and not enough evasion to avoid taking the hits in the first place, and the rep carried over.
@@jelle_tendon I mean nowadays Black Mage has a _lot_ of movement options. Haha double Triplecast and double Sharpcast -> Thundercloud/Fire III go brrt.
I did the MSQ as a Dancer, and now that I am just tooling around, I think in might be time to go summoner. Simple gameplay makes my little brain happy. :3
They truly did SAM dirty. Here's hoping the open revolt on the OF forces a reversion. Tenka didn't even get the auto-crit treatment; the JP community memes that Tenka "comes out of the butt" because of the animation, but I think it's appropriate for it's damage too, since it hits about as hard as a wet fart now.
WHM: Glare III/Holy III, Dia, Assize, Afflatus Misery SCH: Broil IV/Art Of War, Biolysis, Energy Drain, Ruin II AST: Fall Malefic/Gravity II, Combust, Lord of Crowns, Earthly Star SGE: Dosis III/Dyskrasia, Eukrasian Dosis III, Phlegma III, Toxikon II Sage doesn't have "More DPS options" . It's the same as the rest. Each healer has 1 Nuke, 1 DoT, 1 AoE Nuke and some few and between abilities with long CDs that they can use for a very slim DPS gain under very convoluted situations (Like boss phase changes). Calling the 1 button nuke spam of healers a "rotation" is a bit of a stretch.
I love this Channel. I feel like if there was a big booth or stage for FF14 at E3... Lucy could probably do an hour of standup comedy just about about FF14 and have the crowd cracking up.
So i just downloaded the trial on my PS5 as I've been looking for a good MMORPG that actually works on console for a while. This led me to go down the RU-vid rabbit hole, which (inevitably) led me to you. You're explanation is amazing and really helps! However! I struggle to pay attention to the actual content because of a few things: 1. You're comments have me cracking up! 2. You go through so much so fast 3. You're voice mixed with the language you use surprises the hell out of me! (Not complaining, it just throws me off guard lol)
I just started today and this is the second video I’ve watched from you all I’d like to say is thanks for making me laugh and for your funny teaching method’s
Fun breakdown of the classes. I just started the gane this month and am looking for a tank class to learn next. The gunbreaker looks like a lot of fun!
Amazing video, Lucy! You put out a video that I would recommend wholeheartedly to newcomers and not keep in my backpocket once they've drunk the degenerate Kool Aid! Great change of pace and still amazing work! You've outdone yourself!
As a white mage, I came to increase my self loathing by 10%, but you didn’t point this out so I had a 5% decrease. My therapist appreciates this but I don’t. 😂 Anyway, I was wondering how you’d treat blue mage in this video. I was not disappointed. 😏
I didnt notice it at first, but watching that sprout sit down to watch your Sage rotation reminded me so much of why i got into Ninja. Just some random guy practicing his rotations on a training dummy. My nooby conjurer self took one look at all the cool stuff and said "That's rad! I wanna do that!"
I started CNJ and have always stuck to WHM as much as I can, but as Lucy's class video from a while back called from a mile away, RDM and the allure of real DPS and spammable heals to save myself or others from the healers allergic to cast time heals called to me too much. Kinda the same reason I have PLD as my main tank.
The thing that helped me memorize mudras was realizing that only two factors mattered in the result: The amount of symbols, and the final symbol pressed.
"aetherflow keeps their MP stable" Me, who has to keep galvanizing the tank because his pull was too large: *-1000 MP* *-1000 MP* *-1000 MP* *-1000 MP* edit: yes, I know there's more than using Adlo but for some reason, not having a barrier active ticks me off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
for this scenario i usually suggest using a combination of whisperin down+ fey tether (level 70 skill) + a sacred soil for 10% mit, and an excog for more wiggle room , it s a lot of passive healing and can give you some time to breathe if the tank is going auto pilot and not doing his job correctly
@@arcticjedimaster because in ShB the Fairy was realistically Only good for her skill at max level , yes embrace numerically might heal a lot but all of those heal could not make a difference if a tank survives or not , especially in ShB where a tank had 150k hp and embrace healed 3.8 k or 4k at best, in EW Is Better for the number squish
If GNB mains are the caffeine junkies, you guys are the heroine addicts. The only reason I haven't tried MCH is because I have lag issues specifically with FFXIV, and that rotation does NOT look forgiving of lag...

I pray this game still keeps on going... So many classes to still add. Like the colored wizard upgrades and stuff, or even bring new classes in. Kinda still surprised we never got brand new classes from the crossover events... it would've been cool to have an actual Monster Hunter class that can switch up its role depending on what weapon and armor types from the MH series it has equipped.

I absolutely love your humor and love how blatantly savage yet honest you are about everything. I won't lie, I do wish that you mentioned how obnoxiously strong TBN is for DRK, and how absolutely ridiculous SGE's raidwide damage mitigations are. I feel like those two things alone are great motivations to play the classes. That being said, you are totally right about RPR being the favorited baby of the melee's. I'd say maybe 1/50 raids I get put into with a dancer do I NOT get the dance partner buff as RPR. :3 Great video, Lucy!!

So what if I enjoy having 2-3 cast bars full of abilities for each and every situation during a fight. Ast is a great class if you enjoy pure healing and want more of a challenge than flinging Glare and Dia. Rdm is all about the flair. Part of the reason I love it. The other part is I could care less for doing dps compared to having utility. Great vid Lucy.
Lots of great humor in this one, especially the part where you said that people dissatisfied with healer rotation complexity should consider playing a tank. Signed, WAR/GNB main.
"Actually the entire job is prime aesthetic real estate." Lucy that's THE reason why I main Red Mage. My catboy looks so damn hot with the level 70 job gear dyable replica from the Crystalline Conflict awards.
Sprout-ish here...I first chose the archer when I started playing this game a couple of months ago...just went through the motions of rushing to the required level to get it's next job which I assumed would be a Ranger like most fantasy based MMORPG's I've played from experience...and there's always a Ranger class from my history of playing other Final Fantasy games...and then I finally found out what the Archer turns into...let's just say being disappointed is a downright understatement... No offense meant to all you awesome bards out there and your equally awesome musical compositions and free concerts in every public area in the game...it's just that it's not what I expected...and I'm really not a fan of the playstyle...Now I've created a new account and am now happy with my Machinist rocking that red riding hood look and I now have a mantra that I say to myself to get ''in the zone'' on every dungeon run: Split Shot... Slug Shot... Clean Shot... Yes I need to say it out...lest I forget...like my name... tl;dr-before choosing a job newbies, please check out guides for a class and what they turn into and what they bring to the table and it fits your playstyle...like this video guide for instance!
Normally, I play Healers and Tanks. For the FFXIV I picked a Lalafel Black Mage. Walking is cringe, Leylines are life, rotation goes brrr. Going to 60 was kind of tedious, ngl. Getting Fire IV was worth the hike.
Lucy about BLM: "so it's great for people wo are edgsy but aren't quite ready to take that leap into Reaper just yet.." Me, a former BLM now playing RPR: *sweats intensely*

I started ff14 a few months ago, and I immediately picked Archer. I had no idea it was going to turn into Bard, or that I was about to discover my inner masochist.... .....but here we are! xD
Hearing the tank tips made me wonder what channel this was, it was so soft on the ripping that it wasn't until the healers till I heard the signature agony. Good video algorithm is pleased.
"tanking isnt hard but you have to go at the pace your party wants" this makes tanking both anxiety enduing and also not very "easy" at all. As a new tank, ive been yelled at for getting lost, being "to slow" by trying to figure out what im pulling and how many. Maybe if your not stupid like me, you will be alright. but if you are a little stupid, take the advice of "tanking is easy" with the biggest grain of salt.
And that party behaviour is, in my opinion, one of the main reasons why it's so hard to find tanks in many MMO... I don't play FF myself (tried it out a few years ago but was put off by those animations) and just watched this video cause i was curious what classes are around nowdays, so i don't know how it is here, but the behaviour of the DD players in most Trinity MMORPGs is the the main reason why i nearly never tank when i play with others beside my friends/ trusted guild mates (and therefore contribute to the long Q times for dungeon finders that miss tanks myself)
@@TheAzureGhost FF14 had a reputation to being friendlier and more forgiving as a community than other MMOs. And I think it's true to an extent. Though it's resent popularity really hurt this I think. Either way, it's definitely one of the reasons tanks are hard to come by. With the added responsibilities of tanking, they are also under more scocial pressure to perform and have an understanding of the game culture and the dungeon itself. Even healing doesn't quite hit this level of pressure I think.
@@sonoskay yea popularity and those toxic players that often come with it are often a bane to friendly communities... Yea tanks are often sort of guides to dungeons and especially in older games they often felt the biggest impact from boss mechanics... Still i often felt the biggest challenge tanks can face come from their own party, which makes it even more frustrating to be blamed for problems... Back in my youth i knew most dungeons in EQ and later WoW(only vanilla and BC) like the back of my hand and often carried lower gear players together with a friend, by use of tactics and coordination through many as long as they followed orders or were able to play decently in sync by themselves... And then you play public with well geard allys and it feels 10 times harder... even without considering all the bickering and insulting.
... I read Lucy Pyre on a Video, I click... ... I see a bunny in the first seconds and instantly feel click baited to a furry nightmare ....... my brain shuts off
