I remember chrome had something that really slowed your entire mac considerably, even if you weren't using chrome at all. It even remained after you uninstalled chrome
Safari doesn't use Chrome. It uses Apple WebKit. Ironically, on iOS all web browsers are forced to use Webkit and so even Chrome and other web browsers are simply just reskinned versions of Safari on iOS.
@@JamesRodriguez10783Opera is sketchy af, just because they do RU-vid sponsorships doesn’t mean they’re good. Also Brave is literally chromium (aka. Google Chrome for the most part). Firefox is as close as you can get to independent really, and it has tons of advantages. Safari is just WebKit iirc but it’s alright. I’d probably go Firefox > Safari > Chromium based > Opera (it’s also chromium based nowadays, but it’s objectively worse)
@@YD_. well to be honest that’s the only issue I’ve been facing. It’s just sudden crashes here and there. When I’m working on my WordPress website specifically.
@@Isaac-gh5kuThere is now. It is in beta, you have to receive an invite from someone who uses Arc on MacOS (or just send it to yourself). It is nowhere as mature as it is on MacOS.
@@syahrul9282 Unfortunately, there more likely to get tracked with websites as there is no tracker blocker. Also, Chrome on a Mac doesn’t make sense because Mac is centered towards privacy

@@qforzatek lol what? iphone 13 and 14 pro max have the best battery life among all flagship/popular phones… already been tested so many times on youtube
@k9 ik, but Androids in *general* have better battery life than any other phone, and the difference is so crazy it's almost scary. I have the iPhone 13 Pro, and the battery doesn't even last me 4 hours in school 😢 might get android as a secondary phone for gaming
I'm more amazed that a CMD and SHIFT button exists on the other side of the keyboard. What a revelation. I tried pressing them and I think it's the first time they have been pressed ever since I bought my mac 2 years ago lol
@@rafadydkiemmacha7543 I’m feeling the same. I usually work on google sheets and min. 5-6 sheets will be open all the time, whatsapp web & gmail. I think google sheets and gmail are heavy.
who tf uses Safari... one good thing that Safari has over Chrome imo is the tab groups thing but even then... so does Edge (which also has the best features from chrome since it basically is Chrome). I think Edge is the best since it's like Chrome but better especially when you factor in Bing AI but I've recently started using Arc. It obviously leaves some stuff from Edge behind but it's a very nice feeling and innovative browser for Mac.
@@theunstoppablebrigade4277 there are some small annoyances. Examples: the address bar is centered, so the lock icon is in different position each time. I can't count how many times I accidentally clicked the lock icon when I just wanted to type different address. Another one, going back and forth in history causes the swipe animation, which in modern age is kinda weird, when so many web apps are not reloading their content and just some small element changes. Another, I hate it how the search engine autosuggestions work in Safari. When you type and select an entry with arrow keys, the whole field gets selected and if you type immediately after, it gets replaced. I need to press right arrow before typing, which is just plain stupid. If I selected and antry it means I want to either search it, or add to it / modify it. Only Safari does it wrong. There are more things.
@@Spavlia how does turning off suggestions fix what I described? It's like saying that in order to fix a broken chair you can throw it out. Also, you can change center alignment in address bar? I don't think so. Swipe animation, perhaps, can be changed. That makes it 1 out of 3 issues I described, which is hardly "most" of them. Plus swiping was just a bonus.
@@kieran9882 that was a bit of a false statement because I have never used edge (Mac user) but everyone on the internet says it’s terrible, and the ads on the start page are pretty annoying (but you can remove them I think, I’ve never used windows)
@@surengrigorian7888 I grew tired of chrome in the years I've been using it on my macs, now I gave Orion a try and I have to say that I can't recommend it enough. It's basically a 1:1 Safari clone (uses WebKit & JSC), but actually with 0 telementry (unless you enable auto updates, which by default are disabled), and support for Chrome and Firefox extensions as well!
I am surprised people don’t know about this? I am using several browsers including Safari, Brave, Edge on my Mac. Nice thing about Brave and Edge is that they were able to change the wallpaper automatically.
I support 3 customers with their own m365 setups/sso apps and being able to segregate browsing data is a godsend when you have to migrate between all 3 multiple times a day.
@gteixeria, Most people also sh!t everywhere - that does not make it right. Only broke d!cks like you on Windows PCs, or Id!ots who don’t understand the reason for Safari on a Mac use chrome.

@@LyhongPon So you’re proving my point, not even all those who use Mac use Safari. Most people in the world use Windows so they clearly do not use Safari.
You open a new tab and on the bottom left you can see that icon(shown in the video), click on it and you will see that pop-up menu, you can check or uncheck the items there, no keyboard shortcut needed
Safari has some really cool features. Like the auto fill sms & continuity from my iPhone but I hate that it doesn’t play 4K video and it doesn’t streamline w my Google account
I have to use chrome on my 2015 MacBook Air because it’s still fast and efficient unlike Safari that seems to turn into the slowest thing on the planet. It is what it is lol
