I just picked up a 96 LS400 in November and it’s honestly such an amazing car. I’m 6’3” and literally you could fit 5 more people my size and then some. That and the smooth v8 and how incredibly well the car aged the gauge cluster, and overall how even in 2020 the car has a modern feel what’s not to like?
In 2005, I bought a 92 used Lexus LS400 for $3200. My dad was furious that I bought an old car with 189K miles. Best car I've ever owned. Besides the poor gas mileage, the car is masterpiece. I drove this car for 8 years and sold it for $1500 with 245K miles. I regret selling my LS400
I had an LS400. Put 11,000 miles on it in three months, sold it like an idiot. I replaced the two biggest issues with this chassis myself while I had it, the power steering pump and the alternator. This is one of the best cars ever made and I will have another soon.
i enjoyed both my LS400s while I had em. bulletproof and comfy even with coilovers! but you forgot about the exhaust note on those beasts! they sound so good!
Long time LS400 owner and current LS430 owner here. They're quite simply the perfect daily drivers, and I don't plan on driving anything else for as long as possible. Can't recommend them enough!!
@@B2stunt1 for daily driver duty, I like the LS430 as it is just slightly more modern and makes driving in today's traffic just a bit better than the 400. Mainly, the bigger factory brakes and 6 speed trans (05-06) in the LS430 compared to the 4-speed that was in the 1st gen 400 just makes you feel extremely confident in all driving situations. Not to say that the 400 still can't keep up today, but it makes your driver inputs a bit less volatile throughout your commute. Just my $0.02!
Never put air in an ls400 always keep it static. It’s a free flat bottom mod and remember to relocate the wiring harnesses and cut holes to clear the upper control arms.
It is so weird you posted this video. For the past week, I've been browsing LS400 ads online, and watching 1UZ swap videos. It's a sign. I need to buy one.
going on 5 years with my 93 two tone black Ls400. The comfort quality and sounds from the 1uz makes such a special experience. I think I'll be running in the 90's for a very long time.
Yes, finally! Thank you for for the video guys! I love my 90 LS400. One of the best vehicles that I have owned so far. Comfortable, reliable, looks good lowered with wheels and the exhaust sounds beautiful when it's opened up (I have gutted cats, X-Pipe, and glass packs).
I got LS 400 puppies. (1) 1995 Lexus LS400 (1) 1996 Lexus LS400 and both gorgeous!! Bought both for grand total of $9000! The 95' is Moonstone Grey The 96 is Champange Metalic both have same Tan Leather interiors.
Right , so the guy that my 9yr old son has a deeper voice than is gonna tell me to get a pair ?? 🤣😂 1st video on this channel ii have watched and this "persons" voice has me confused.... 🤷♂️ Great video though anyway , I respect the homework that went into making this video. Respect
Just picked up an LS430 (06) last month and man do I love this thing.. this is about my 15th-ish car and I can confidently say it’s my favorite I’ve ever purchased 💜🖤
I just want to let you know that if you plan to get one go for the 2nd gen but if you're looking for one because of the motor then go for a GS400 or a SC400 because you have more body mods than the first gen LS400
I got a 90 LS400 eith blown stock shocks. It is WAY more comfortable than my 2010 forte, 2015 durango RT and 2013 sonata. My dad HATES wasting money on old used cars and even he was impressed and love the ride and accepted the $2500 tag the car cost lol. Amazing
I got a LS400 2nd gen, really good condition with about 125k miles or 200000km. its got the OEM air suspension, and its pretty much stock and i would never even think to slam it, it is so comfortable and just floats over bumps. And its not fast but its so comfortable even at 120 mph at a little over 3k rpms. can easily drive it for hours:)
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with my 1st gen LS400. Only issuse I ran into was bad MAF and an old ball joint, not bad for a 20 year old car at the time.
It's probably the first time that "So You Want..." is a 100% accurate title for me. Yes, I'd love to own a Supra or a WRX or any other car you presented but THIS car, I just adore it and I want it
I had an LS400 10 years ago which had always been my favorite car I'd owned until I got the Audi that I drive now. I recently picked up another LS400 as my project. I'm psyched 🤗
You said dont expect them to be fast, but never mentioned how you can slap a turbo on the early UZ engines in them, and do 700whp on stock internals. ;)
@@SpikeRazzor nobody is talking about 3uzs. Never was in an ls400. And they ditched forges internals long before the 3uz came out. 2nd gen 1uzfe doesn't have them.
Damn! Alex, I love the way you introduce the car at the beginning ... It gives me goosebumps every time! And that song in the background... Holly F! It's awesome
If you looking to get one u cant go wrong with these!!! I got a 95 ls400 which is a tank, I got an Lexus ls430 with the massaging and reclining seats as my daily, and my project 1jz sc300 build! Lexus are the best cars ever made!
I owned a 99 limited edition green mint color and put a lot of work into it.Till a limo driver totaled my vehicle that took years off my life.Bummer.Miss my baby to this day.
Came back to like my own comment..just sayin'. Btw the LS400 is my future build..now make a video titled "So you wanna talk your wife into digging your build" thanks in advance.
Just bought a ‘97 LS400 @99k miles for $5200. I wasn’t even off the lot yet before I absolutely fell in love and knew it was perfect 😅 I most recently had a ‘16 Hyundai veloster, financed, but with the market inflated, I was able to sell it to carvana for my original full loan amount and got back the money i paid on the loan, used that $5k to purchase this 😍 Can’t wait to get some maintenance done and put entirely new wheels on it, it already is in immaculate condition and the wheels will be the cherry on top. Already got a list of other mods to look into.
I have a 91 original LS400 on chrome wheels, black onyx color with tan leather, trac control + heated seats, still works. I saw one a little like mine that sold for 10 grand on bat. she's a beauty for sure
Got mine last September. 1990 model year. Perfect paint, 125k miles, 10/10 interior with only a small tear in the driver's seat leather, and from being an Arizona car, the heat was not able to get to the ls400 for over 32 years and counting! The summer here is usually 105-120 degrees. Best car ever. Only thing I needed to fix was normal things like oil, brakes, and tires, and a throttle sensor. Everything else works, a/c ice cold, etc.
Really considering getting a ls400 now, exactly what I have been looking for. Nice v8 sound with a little power and its Japanese v8 from Toyota so it’s trustworthy . Thank you for the videos 🙏🏼
As great as the 400 is, I absolutely love my 02 LS430. However, as RCR once said, Toyotas laugh at miles but they don't laugh at rust, and my LS430 is not laughing at the rust...
“It’s the car to be a fantastic daily driver for the automotive enthusiast that just wants something that won’t betray them and leave them stranded on the highway like their project car that’s sitting in their garage.” You literally just described me, I’m searching for a reliable daily that I’ll still enjoy driving, while my project car is sitting my garage with a leaking water pump. You convinced me to buy one of these.
I just picked up a 1996 celsior (jdm ls400) in the fall, 30k km and mint shape for only 4k. Got some work eurolines im gonna slap on. Easily one of my favorite cars ive owned
I own a static slammed LS400 and Highly Reccomend that anyone buy one of them, by far my favorite car, im now onto my 2nd LS400, its an addiction. theyre plenty fast to be fun and dust all the regular cars on the road plus the high end models of the 400 are more comfortable and luxurious than almost any other car i can think of. The V8 is by far the most reliable motor I have ever come across and it sounds great too.
There’s a reason why I love box shaped vehicles, 2004-2015 Scion xB, 1991-1999 Lexus LS400, and 2012-2020 Toyota 4Runner. And the new 2019-2020 Toyota Avalon and especially Avalon TRD is a little bit of box-ish with more sleek look. 🤤🤤🤤🤤 my dream cars to own those one day
I have one that I need to finish up (1994), and just bought a parts car with a near perfect interior and lots of extra parts...when I get around to it. I'll be hitting up Alex and the Bois for some BC's and blocky wheels in the relatively near future (am I kidding myself that I'll pass emissions this time?) It's a sweet car and I can only blame myself for why it isn't on the road right now because full time job/kids/house projects/sleep/etc aren't really at fault when all I really need is a bad relationship with a case of Red Bull and a long weekend to finally make it happen...but I digress.
Fun fact: the engine that was in the LS400 had actually been used in a different platform before the ls400. They ran that engine (1uz) in the 1989 Toyota Crown Royal Saloon G uzs13. The Toyota Crown always runs top-of-the-line new features years before Lexus ever sees it stateside.
it's also possibly the only car engine to be FAA certified as durable enough for use in light aircraft edit: I didn't read that properly at first lol, but the 1UZ was designed specifically for the LS / celsior and didn't debut in the crown first
Isnt the crown just an ls400 with a toyota badge on it? Or rather the ls400 a crown with a lexus badge. But either way the Americans only got the ls so thats what they will talk about. Just like the soarer/sc.
Luke Chapman you're maybe thinking of the celsior, which is really an LS 400 badged as a toyota the LS was designed from the start for north america, but 'lexus' didn't come to Japan until years later so it was branded as a toyota
@@indigoraceworks The Crown ran it first in Japan. I owned one. *Edit* Just to confirm I checked the paperwork on the Crown and the first date of registration was in June. The ls400 didn't go on sale in the US until September. The same Crown was also the first car ever to be equipped with touch screen navigation.
Yo I’m 13, and I’m saving up for this car. Hopefully I can get it. I drove my fathers Elantra at our local church parking lot. And I LOVE the feeling of just driving, if I get a ls400, I’m going to take care of it.
Im in Wisconsin I bought Lex 1991 Luxury Sedan 400 in 2020 and 2021. Red and white respectively. No rust or rot beyond the surface. One from Socal the other west Texas. One stopped running so I'll have to check the ecu out.
Man, my dad got a used 1991 LS400 in about 2001, when I was a junior in high school. It was 10 years old, but still so impressive with the technology and style. He got one in, what I called, cherry cola color, with gold emblems. He also test drove a similar year Infinity Q45. The Q was faster, but the LS just felt nicer and of better quality, with that oh so satisfying, air tight, thud when closing the doors. I would love to get one if th these cars. My dad's had some kind if electrical fire under the hood a few years later. It was so sad, my dad loved that car, and so did th he rest of us. RIP beautiful LS400 ✌
If I don’t get an E36 sedan this is the second car I’ve wanted. An all black or the Black and Tan two tone one of these are so clean. And the VIP style works so good on these, like it was made to be slammed. Also the one with the Century front end at 11:40 is so sick.
