Good tips! I weld a couple times a year and even with some basic knowledge, I always have to shake the rust off and the first welds never look good. Practice makes perfect and you guys are at the top of your game :)
Very good video. I am always curious to see what technique a good mig welder uses so I wish we could have seen your welding up close. Are you making V’s or going back and forth or making loops? Do you change your technique for different situations? Making good instructional welding videos is almost as difficult as welding. I’m looking forward to another one.
I've been welding close to 10 years now, mostly tig but mig as well. Here's my 2 cents. I started out sweeping floors in a metal fab shop and practiced every chance I got. I learned to weld while making money, instead of spending money at a school. School doesn't make always make a welder, worked with too many guys that were "certified" or graduated from X welding school that could barely run a weld or even setup their machine. Learn to fab parts too. Your not always going to have someone doing your layout, cutting, milling, etc., especially if your making your own stuff.
