Thanks for the video Lenny i want a Dacshund for few year now before covid, but I have a old cat and he would make well with a new comme, k had n other one but he died from a pancreatic cancer.i still love my cat very dearly but today my need have change I need a companion who drag me out. My cat is super cuddlely and sweat it’s a Birman cat they like dogs . I live in London but I originally come from Brussels. I had no idea how expenssif vet can be in uk. We have 2 cats and we had one operation due to a abcès unbernieth a muscle. I swear if I hadn’t have my insurance I would have to let my cat go. It’s is extremely sad because what about people who can afford a opp.? After the operation we were quite dry been honest.especially that my other cat just died a bit before burning lockdown from a pancreatic cancer, we had very difficult to find a vet for a home call. And believe me it has cost few K and few more. TAKE AN INSSURANCE FOR YOUR LOVED FURY FRIENDS.
I cannot thank you enough for all of your videos! I am obsessed with every single video for my own educational purposes. Looking to get my first ever dachshund puppy in around 4 months time. I can’t wait to be a dog mummy x
I have owned 6 Dachshunds over nearly 30 years! 2 have lived to be 17 years old and the others over 12 years. Don't buy a Dachshund unless you are prepared to look after them late in life. Also beware of stairs! It is not a good idea to let them run up and down them all of the time! They are wonderful friends and characters and need lots of attention!! Lovely informative video!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience in your videos. I've watched nearly all of them now to help me decide if a dachshund is for me and then to prepare for my new puppy. I'm picking him up next week and I feel ready now thanks to your tips!
From the US. Great video, thanks for posting this information... I’ve owned my lil boy for 10 years (AKC black and creme mini long haired dachshund), and didnt know some of this newer info that has came out about the colors.👏
hello! im so glad i found your site!!! im researching my butt off as im very interested in getting one! i was originally thinking puppy so that I could be to be the one to train and make sure to socializee etc.... but the other part of me really wouldnt mind adopting a dog a bit older maybe a year.... but im worried if the dog was sent back or needs to be rehommed maybe a previously owned dog might have too many issues to be retrained? what are your thoughts? thx sooo much (im in the US )
I’m getting 2 miniature short hair dachshunds in 3 weeks. I’m very excited but apprehensive as I’ve only ever owned a single dachshund at a time. They are beautiful brothers so I’m getting both as I felt bad separating them
Hey! Please watch my video on littermate syndrome. I personally would never buy 2 brothers at the same time. They would probably preferring being separated as male brothers in a pack were never meant to stay together. Yes you have the chance of them being absolutely fine, but you also have the huge chance of them being impossible to train and then having a big fall out during maturity changes that mean rehoming them at a later age x
This is brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing! I’ve been looking into buying in the UK and had no idea prices had gone up so much, I just assumed they’d always been quite pricey but it was definitely a shock compared to the £1K I paid for my pedigreed showdog-parent labrador pup. I would love to know if you’ve got any further resources for reputable breeders in the UK at all? They’re quite tough to find and although I have managed to pinpoint a few, many of them have waiting lists into next year or the following even. Again thank you so much for all this information, it’s super concise and by far the most in-depth I’ve come across yet. X
penelopel. Hello!! All the breeders are listed on the KC Website however you’re right they do all have very long waiting list. But of course keep in mind many might drop out of those waiting lists periodically bringing you forward in the list so definitely worth joining! I was going to do a little video of me on my laptop dissecting what I looking for in adverts online when using the online advert websites. Would that be useful? X
LENNY Yes that would be great! I’ve noticed even some breeders post on third party websites and I always wonder if they’re safe and what to look out for... Thank you!
I would love a video on what happens when you find a breeder. So when the puppies are born what should happen next. Do you choose the puppy or does the breeder. How often should you get to visit it. When do you pay the deposit. That stuff please xx
Great video!! I have a 11 month old short haired silver dapple miniature! He's gorgeous but a little off with strangers especially who come in our garden or home! If you've got any experience with any of your gang could you maybe talk about this and how to overcome it in a video Thank you! ☺️
Hi There! Great video, thanks for the information ! Was really helpful. We have tried to do loads on research and also noticed that prices have shot up during lockdown ! We are currently looking for a standard Dachshund(smooth or wired), and noticed they are really hard to find!! Do you or anyone else on here have any suggestions of a good reputable breeder in the UK(England) ! Any help would be appreciated 🙂
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 Thankyou so much 😃🙏 will check them out. I have subscribed to your channel aswell so keep the content coming. Is it right to assume that anything you talk about can be applied to the standard breed aswell?
The only colours that come with skin issues are dilutes which includes blue and Isabella. All other colours shouldn’t come with CDA. Double Dapple however comes with other health issues x
My dad had smooth ginger dachshund and got baby's from long haired black dachshund .in result one was white with ginger ears ,little black and ginger on tail ,half long hair body and half smooth and tail was long hair and half short tail , he lived 19,5 years with me ( I Soo much miss him and now want mini dachshund but I fear to get )
Hi there, just got our puppy and was wondering if there are any specific insurance or company that you’d recommend at all? Thank you, your videos are very helpful
Hi Lenny ! In the Netherlands three sizes of dachshunds are described miniature (kaninchen) dwarf and standard Don't you have any dwarf dachshunds? good video again about dachshunds Your dogs are lovely Gr Dunja
I'm so pleased to subscribe to you as we are in the process of getting a miniature Dachshund puppy... I have had a lot to do with dogs, growing up with my grandparents who bred spaniels (back in the late 50s & 60s) and have become acquainted with Dachshunds through friends of ours who have them. I love the breed and am looking forward to the puppy (due any day). The only thing I am slightly nervous of is that I have 2 cats. Do you have any ideas of how I should go about introducing them to what will be a puppy half their size, please? The cats have LOTS of cat trees, hideaways & perches but it is going to be difficult to keep the puppy from mixing with them as she will be able to get through any form of gate I put up, although not over it...!! We live in a bungalow that is very open plan - ie the living/kitchen/hall area is all open-plan. Thank you for the work you have done already, I wish you all the very best in growing your channel and will be sure to let any Dachshund friends know where to find you!!
Hello!! We actually lived with 2 cats for a few years :) we found if the cats ran this was where we came across issues. I would definitely make sure the cats have areas for safety as that will mean they’re a lot more calm in the dog being there. And if possible give the cats some catnip treats in a crate area / pen area so that the dog can sniff them too, to learn more about them as dogs learn a lot through smell. You may have moments where the puppy is a bit much for the cats so they tell him off. But as a puppy they learn so quickly when they’re hissed at :) so my main advice, make sure the cats have safe places where the dog can’t get to and if possible allow the puppy to sniff the cats in a controlled way 💜❤️
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 - thank you!! Yes, the cats have plenty of safe spaces away from our grandchildren (although they're used to them now) and the future puppy. We have always had cats but did have a dog years ago - I can't remember doing any form of introduction!! I think I just plonked her down & the cats (then) sniffed her & told her who was boss & they all got along great. I was lucky... This time, these 2 cats I know will not take kindly to their home being invaded but will, I'm fairly confident, gradually accept the puppy. My main hope is that they get along well together - eventually... & I'm prepared to put in some work to make that happen!! You have lovely dogs, Lenny, may I ask you to introduce each one separately (sometime in the future) & explain about what happened with Nemo's leg...? It was *lovely* to see him enjoying his hydrotherapy. 💙
Hey first time dachshund owner here, ours is 9 months old and I was wondering when they are out of their teenage time? I've been told they get a bit more cuddly after they come out of their teen months which I'm looking forward to!
I’m in Australia. I have a smooth tan. And a cream. Both are standards. What I would like is if you do training. Cause omg. Barking. Barking. Barking. Lol.
Hey really need advice my puppy is 10 weeks old and she sleeps from 10-5 any ideas to get her to sleep from 9-6. Soon as it’s 5am she goes crazy clawing and crying trying to get out of the playpen , any advice? HELP
Gosh you’re soooo lucky she sleeps that long!! I think you will struggle to get her to sleep that long even as a adult dog. 9 is a really early time to go to bed for a dog.
Hi Lenny, I think they got a boom during covid. Sadly soon people return to work the dog is not educated and have anxiety and he get destructif… and people are not ver patient
@@lennysixdachshunds1069 Hey! Even I thought it's a chocolate and tan. But the kennel owner is saying it's a rare color called liver and tan. I am sharing few pics and a video of this puppy. Please watch it and give me an advice regarding the health of this puppy. drive.google.com/folderview?id=19cXly_VDicyq63hkfAmvEr5XnIkVPaV3
