Who doesn't love Benson and Jessica? Such a sweet friendship they had. Their chemistry was helped by Robert Guilliame and Katherine Helmond's real life friendship.
The producers aided interracial friendships with this TV couple - though they were just friends-they kept viewers thinking they were more than friends -like PEGGY and JOE on MANNIX.
I loved Benson so much been watching all episodes on roku channel 1st episode on Benson when he meets Mary and could tell he had good chemistry and was going to stay he loved everyone
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMONE/ANYONE TO CAPTURE THEM TOGETHER FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS, There seens together are so amazing and the sad moments were the best. They were friends until Robert died, thank you so much for this// RIP Kathrine and Robert,,
It’s a lot simpler. Jessica is an example of someone who loves unconditionally. Benson is fiercely loyal & good friend shown in him giving crap to Jessica’s pig husband. Also he is there without question when Jessica needs him the most
For those who dont know. One of the main writers wanted Benson and Jessica to end up together by the end of the finial season. But they canceled the show before they can make it happen.
Even when I first got to watch _Soap_ in 1979 at age 12, Benson seemed to me to be the moral compass of the show, based on who he liked/tolerated and who he didn't like/tolerate.
Tell me if you think it would have been funny if they did another crossover with Benson and Soap and had that the Governor was making a deal with someone named Bob. At first, Benson doesn't know who Bob is, but then he finds out that it is Bob Campbell, Chuck's ventriloquist dummy, so Chuck and Bob visit the Governor. It would be funny because Bob could have started to fall in love with Krause and we could have seen Clayton's reaction to Bob.
