Hi friends! I'm so excited to show you our soap studio tour! We moved into this 400 square foot studio space about 3 months ago and we are still working on organizing a few sections but overall wanted to show you where we are at. We love seeing other makers studio spaces because it gives us such great ideas on how to run and organize our soap business so we hope you found some great tips and ideas while watching this video.

I love your space! I’m hoping for something like myself some day. 🙂 I saw that you mentioned wanting to get the large stackable trays for curing soap. I had those and just made the switch to bakers racks like you have. The stackable trays are great, until you need to get to the one at the bottom and you have to move a whole bunch of super heavy trays to get to the ones underneath. Just something to keep in mind. I know rotating soaps isn’t fun, but it’s so much easier for me than dealing with the heavy stackable trays.

@@caitlinblue I know this is a whole year later, but perhaps you can purchase perforated sheet trays from webstaurant or another restaurant supply store. OR even metal cooling racks made for sheet trays. Again this may be very late! But thought it might be worth the share :)

I searched for soap racks and ended up on your video :) I think people underestimate how much time small businesses spend on shipping. People watching your video think you are happily making soap and things all day but mostly you are shipping. At least if you want to make any money, that's what you're doing. (It sucks). I spent several years selling on Ebay and Amazon, and even tried out having Amazon do fulfilling when that first started out - has it's good and bad points, the bad are really bad. Anyway, your shop tour is lovely! I hope you are having fun doing what you love!

I love you for posting this, I am a new small biz and I am trying to figure out how to sort out my essential oils, empty bottles to produce essential oil rollers, and 2ml diffuser. I also sell bath bombs & bath salt. Your so inspiring, all your bath bomb boxes are amazing, I would love to know how to package and order packaging like that to send them out as I make custom boxes, and can only drop off / local pick up, as they can be rose or lotus shaped.

I have the plastic ones that stack up and they are awesome I think you can stack up to 30 at a time I only have five right now and then the bottom rack has wheels attached to it but it is such a nice space saver and you can roll it wherever you want it

We use this same bakers rack and found some trays with holes in them. That might be cheaper than buying a new system.

Oh i'll have to look into that. I bought a few new racks from Soap Equipment so I can figure out if I like those better. I'll still use the bakers racks for my other products and production!

You're so welcome!! My boxes are actually very custom because I couldn't find what I wanted for my brand. The measurements are something weird link 3.125 inches or something because they are designed for my exact mold. Sorry I can't be more helfpul. 💕

Really great space! I was wondering if you could tell me where you get your paper packs you showed in the video. I currently cut up 12x12 scrapbook paper from Michael's as a backing for my belly band labels and I'd live to find a better more cost effective solution. Thank you!! The samples are a 1 ounce jar. I tried the 1/2 ounce but it’s kinda hard to get the product out when the jar is that small. Hope that helps!

I see the thermal printer, but it doesn’t print color labels correct? How do you get the color labels for your candles then?

The thermal printer is only for shipping labels and price stickers. I get my candle and soap wrappers professionally printed because there isn't a printer in my opinion that does a good job.

Purchase perforated sheet pans. Much cheaper and far more easier to work with than the dryer trays.

I might do that...I did buy some of the dryer trays to test them out so I'll have both types and can make a decision on what to invest in down the road once I need more!

I’m actually working on sourcing sustainable palm oil and creating a separate bar soap line that doesn’t use it at all and uses 100% compostable packaging…not that I need your “vote” but just want you to know that RU-vid doesn’t show everything. ❤️
