It’s great to see a new generation of people enjoying Asian movies like this,. Movies like these have been around for a long time, and yet they are so underrated. You should definitely check out God of Cookery, Sixty Million Dollar Man, and Forbidden City Cop, all Chow Sing-Chi (Stephen Chow) movies. Stephen is the young bloke, the main star, Steel Legs. Definitely keep watching the subtitled versions.
RIP to the shaolin coach.. (mr ng man tat) he's always the duo partners in many movies with stephen chow... (the main hero) Stephen chow were famously known for his "mo lei tau" (make no sense) comedy genre.. he's the best at it.. some of my favorite like - A Chinese Oddesey, King of Comedy... mostly 90s film... you should react to those film also if you likes a movie that the comedy is so funny it make no sense at all...
Yuen-woo Ping did the fight choreography for Kung Fu Hustle, as well as the Matrix, Kill Bill, and a host of great Hong Kong martial arts movies. Stephen Chow was the director and star of Kung Fu Hustle as well as Shaolin Soccer. He is well known for his comedies in Hong Kong.
I'm really glad you watched this, JV! Always enjoy watching your videos man, I'm glad you do what you do brother. It's always nice seeing someone succeed who truly deserves it! Keep it up!
I saw shaolin soccer in theater in Hong Kong when I was in middle school. I remember it was a full house and I never had such sore jaws in my life. My friend cracked up so much that she spilled popcorn all over the floor 😂😂😂
back when it came out this was a movie i loved cus i was a kid and a big dbz fan and this was the closest i had to a dbz live movie. the powers shots and effects were done so good and still hold up well
When you start doing the sound effects yourself, you know it's hitting. lol Great reaction man! Totally there with you on this one. Such a classic, and easily my favorite soccer movie. We like you caught up in it, so no worries. :) Edit: Oh yea, and if it works for you, good call on the sub. Most of us are gonna like the original voices in foreign films better. Much like anime, like you thought.
Watching the dubbed version I can guarantee you will lose most of the jokes. All those little jabs in conversations will simply not be there. I saw the dubbed version of Kung Fu Hustle first. It's so much better with subtitles. Whoever dubs them simply don't care most of the time.
If you want to check out a Martial Arts film with insane fight scene's check out the Thai film 'Chocolate'. It's not light hearted or funny, and I don't know if it would be a big hit for a reaction video, the story is... unique, but the fights... oh my god! The lead actress trained for 2 years to master the fights before filming, and in this movie she demonstrates some of the most precise and efficient movement I have ever seen. No joke, if you are passionate about fight choreography it is a MUST see. Fair warning in the interest of full disclosure, parts of the plot can drag a bit for the Western audience in particular, but once the fights start you can't look away and they just keep getting bigger and wilder. Thai stunt men are straight up crazy.
Stephen Chow act in his own films, which you probably already know by now. You'll see a lot of same actors in his films cause they're all great friends.
Great reaction, as you already noticed, there were a lot of cast cross overs from one movie to the other. The HK movie scene is pretty close and comparably small to Hollywood so you have groups who normally tend to work with each other with some instances of overlapping. For instance, the late Ng Man-tat (Golden Leg) frequently works with Stephen Chow and Sammo Hung (one of the masters in Ip Man 2) worked with Jackie Chan (in front of the camera and behind the scenes).
Please react Stephen chow classic movie 90’s a god of gambler “back to shanghai”, I think you will really really like it and that’s humor it’s classic and no have CGI
This and Kung fu Hustle are great movies, but a movie that goes under a radar for many people is Kung Pow. And that my friend is the most hilarious Kung fu movie of all time, I highly recommend that you check it out!
We just showed this to my son recently. It was the right time, the humor hit just right for him. Especially the clothing being blown off the goalie. Lol.
@@tempsitch5632 yeah I know the majority of the actor are in both movies, I just did not realize that the goalie was play the boss of the gang. Stop being a dick.
My friend and I watched this movie on a whim one night with no idea what it was like. By the time re reached the flash mob I deemed it “the greatest thing I have ever seen”
How about the Korean Zombie Movie called "Train To Busan" its really good too. It’s really nice seeing someone watches different movie and different language.
27:41 the girls team, both of them are sort of like Stephen's ex, while at the time, he and Zhao Wei (the baker girl who knows Tai Chi) was on the shipped kinda news. So it's sorta f*cked up but surprised plus funny for the audience to see them both (Cecilia Cheung and Karen Mok) here in this movie XD
I'm sure I might be missing some homage but point-of-mention: 2:37 Earth?, the bald head, a soccer ball...the head is not Aang Air Bender, in part if not mostly because the major identifier of Aang is blue arrow [perhaps some symbolism for the story of air bender....the luck dragon like companion if I recall correctly has an arrow down over its forehead too. I looked and what I saw his (Aang) head is smoothe. This image has dots and no apparent blue arrow.-Ernie Moore Jr. As to what is there--you like fight scenes but one might think you do not really do the Shao-Lin niche. Shao-Lin is a hub of taking-in people who want off the grid. At least some resorted to bad guy things and so over centuries [centuries? Is that too much.?.] Shao Lin got to acquire a big menu or repertoire of fighting studies. So there's kung fu there. But you should know that a Monk at Shao Lin studys a particular philosophy line and literally live the life of a monk, but that means separating from the world. Supposedly...There are places under the skin that can affect reactions. As they advance or grade-up or continue as a monk...Higher level monks have more incense burns in their bald head. The burns deaden impulses-desires..nerve type stuff [likely]. A full monk has nine incense burn marks--3 x 3 like the spots for playing Tic-Tac-Toe.Ernie Moore Jr. 2:37 The head with the dots as it is, is iconic for a Shao-Lin monk...So as understanding pops immediately into one's mind the imagery between the Earth? and the fourth roundedness--the sun literally might say Shao-Lin Soccer.-Ernie Moore Jr.
When it comes to HK movies, when you see same stars on other moives, normally the like working with each other or they are in a crew. I know like JC stuff the newer movies, the young stars are same crew on diffrent movies. The Goalie play or cast at lot of Bruce Lee look alike movies/series, I think he was in the table tennis commercial with a nunchuke and a chinese adaption of Bruce Lee. Stepehen Chow is a Actor/Director
Here's the thing about dubs... When you're doing a reaction, it can make it easier for viewers to follow along. If you're watching on your own, the subtitles are the best experience. Sometimes, the dubs can be REALLY bad & distracting. For some Jackie Chan movies, the voices don't match at all & they go out of their way to make the characters sound comical.
Dubs are always terrible, especially when they are Riff Trax style, intentionally screwy. Although I didn't expect him to be reading it out loud, that was a bit odd.
@@lokithecat7225 while most dubs are complete shit, their are a few exceptions that make people have a preference between the two, for example a silent voice, great sub and dub
since you're a soccer player, you'd appreciate 'Scott Sterling'.... the first video is of him playing soccer (over 80 million views), and there are others... I like the one of him playing volleyball... if you haven't seen it, please look it up! hilarious!
I prefer subtitle for Anime, but dubbed for live action, especially when you cut off both the beginning and end of lines and one or more lines when there more than 2 lines. Makes it impossible to read or follow.
That guy that "was in Kung fu hustle" is Steven chow who made these movies. I'd not watch dubbed versions of his movies, because there is a lyricalness and rhythm to the dialogue in their language
if u hvnt watched it in dub you really should stephen chow does the dub himself and the bar song is just way better...u should watch it in your own time
steel leg is actually stephen chow, he is also the director and writer of shaolin soccer, also "the one" on kung fu hustle, which is also he is the director and writer.
I miss this movie so much! I use to watch it when I was younger, Chiau sing chi's movies came out before I ever born but my mom so into it so I grow up watching them it’s great to see you react to it! Can you please react to God of gamblers too? It's so nice
