Would highly recommend the trick taking social deduction game, Inside Job. My other favorite would be deception murder in Hong Kong, which you mentioned at the end. And Inhuman Conditions is an incredible role-playing 2 player social deduction game. Love that you highlighted that.

I think Deception is unmatched in its player count flexibility. With the expansion you can reasonably play from 6 up to 13 or 14 and have a great time. Glad to see it mentioned at the end

My kids' favorite is hands down One Night Ultimate Werewolf. I've introduced close to 2 dozen non-gamers to it and, with the exception of a couple people who found all the lying exhausting, everyone has enjoyed it. Coup is probably their second favorite. It has a completely different feel and is not for people who dislike confrontation in games. Sheriff of Nottingham has a nice social deduction element of whether to check a player's cart for contraband and seems to work better for players who are less comfortable telling stories to back up their lies in other social deduction games. We haven't played The Resistance enough to pass judgement on it, especially since shorter social deduction games benefit from the meta-game elements that evolve organically over the course of multiple plays. The downside of social deduction games is that I sometimes worry I'm training my kids to be too good at lying to me. But as they say, "The demon is in the details" and details sell the lie.

Great video! I had never heard of Spyfall but it does sound like a nice version of social deduction, where nobody is really lying, but instead coming up with interesting ways to tell the truth, or what you think is the truth. Might have see if I can try it out sometime! Blood on the Clocktower is just such a big step forward for this genre I feel like also. There are so many things they considered from being able to put people together if one is a new player, or you just want to make sure people are on the same team, to keeping everyone in the game the whole time even after you have died, to everyone having information but knowing that any info could be a lie, or be the truth, just wrong information. It is much more complicated of a game, but even so fells much more approachable for people who don't enjoy just making up lies to tell your friends.

BotC can get sooooo complex, especially depending on the group you are playing it with. But it can also seem so accessible the first time you play it. A very very deep game. Skyfall is a bit of an older one but very solid, especially for newbies!

Great video - only one I’ve played it Werewolf but these others sound great. My kids like playing Chameleon as a fun deduction party game.

Feed the Kraken is terrific! I backed the deluxe KS and will play this game any time. I think next time we play, if a player has their tongue cut out, we will pretend there is a demon on board the Instabil!

I think once you move beyond the heaviness/complexity level of Blood on the Clocktower and its demon, you move beyond purely social deduction games. Still a *ton* of fun IMO, especially games with traitor mechanics like Nemesis or Unfathomable or Dead of Winter, but there's so much else to those games that I understand that others don't call them social deduction games, as they're more like "games with social deduction in them". Which leaves BotC as the--for now--undisputed queen.

Totally agree! These games mostly focus on social deduction as a core mechanic. Games like Nemesis or Dead of Winter definitely have a few elements but it's not the main mechanic. Blood on the Clocktower is real good. I'll definitely have more to say about the game in the future. 😈 Thanks for watching! - Braiden

I’ve fortunately played several of these, including Feed the Kraken. My fav has to be Blood on the Clocktower. Last time I was the pukka. I survived, and so did one of my minions. Whew. 2.5 hrs of playing innocent. 😉 Planning to play again in 5 weeks at DT Retreat. Can’t wait! Wish I owned a copy.

Im confused about Insider, from your description it sounds competitive in that the insider doesnt want to get found out, but then your description afterwards was saying it was cooperative. Do you just mean because youre not actively trying to mislead?

Yes, exactly! You're all working towards the same goal (to guess the object) but the insider can't be too obvious about that.

We used to see All You Can Board videos much, MUCH more often on RU-vid. Now we are lucky to see a new video a couple of times a month, and for me, the videos that are posted are not of interest. It's sad to see All You Can Board going downhill. What's up?

A bit longer of a response so please bare with me! Downhill maybe feels a little unfair but slower, certainly! We have had a busy summer with Braiden training Carlo on how to light, film, and edit videos on his own. Dylann's full-time job has got him busier than ever. We are still around but we aren't going pump out content just for the sake of it and I hope that isn't the expectation.
