I caught Social Distortion with Bad Religion last week. Opener was Lovecrimes, Julien Ness's band. He is an absolute spitting image of Mike in this video!

Life was better in those days. Simpler and less stress. I was working and on my own in the 90s and I will still say its way better than today. Money went further, People were not so offended and we could do what we wanted. No real supervision and we turned out fine. Now everyone is paranoid and delusional locking their kids in the house all the time. Now we have internet morons who are trying to run things. Those people we could ignore back in those days are now front and center. Sorry to rant lol

As I’m typing this I’m going to one later today. Glad I never stayed locked up and alone, ain’t never needed anyone to go with me ether. Nice one ace! 👍🏻 I too was transformed by punk circa late 1986, when I was 13 , early1987, started the band summer of 1988 right before I was 15, and by the time I was your age, we opening for Fugazi at Drexel U in March of 1991. Punk helped getting though so much when I was a teenager, of course, things will change and evolve (and sadly in most cases, Devolve,) but at the base of punk is be true to yourself, which can help through most things. Anyways, I won’t preach no more 😂, but just keep it up, do your best, and the worm 🪱 will turn!

How cool is that! There's a couple recent vids where Mike talks about how a few years ago it was older fans turning their kids onto Social D and bringing them to the shows, and now it's young fans bringing their parents! Their music will live forever.

But whatever- it's the band that wanna bees fluked too, to get them in the punk or rocka alternative club. However, this has been my opinion for decades now, and so I'm just an old fart speaking out still about Mike's fake harsh voice and attitude. Met much of these guys and types years ago, not so harsh, just doing their thing that attacks the peeps. There is much better out there, just go out to search for it.

Someone asked what band I was in when we opened for SOCIAL DISTORTION in 1982,it was YOUTH KORPS,a band I started in 1981.I first started playing guitar with the formation of that band,my only previous experience was playing bass for the HATES,the earliest Texas punk band.I actually quit REALLY RED to join HATES,Ronnie Bond asked me to play bass in RR,and I practiced with them but didn't really like the tunes they were doing in March of 1979.When Christian Arnheiter offered me the bass in HATES,I eagerly jumped ship.

I once entered CBGB with Pete Shelley and the rest of BUZZCOCKS after they performed at Maxwell's in Hoboken.We went from CB's to Gildersleeves,another long gone club.What a night!Nothin's like it used to be,except me.

The Bowery use to be CBGB and homeless people. I heard it's been gentrified now. The old neighborhood was part of the whole experience.

All the great punk or small venues are gone. There was one in south Cincinnat(Newport Ky.) Called the jockey club. All the great punk bands came there in the 80's. You could stage dive then go get a shot. It's long gone, just like all the cool punk venues of that era.

and using the bathroom was quite an experience.
