I have a small theory that may or may not be similar to others. From this music video, I can guess that this "room" takes place in one's very own soul, which has split into two parts, Black and White. Black represents the corruption of ones soul, like sadness, anger, fear, and hatred. White represents the purity in ones soul, like happiness, compassion, forgiveness, and love. This music video shows what happens when the two parts collide, and what happens when corruption takes over and how corruption can turn a once loving, caring, and happy person into a angry, hating, violent monster.

Let me just write a quick moral of the story for this music video; he began to realize how shitty and toxic he was. he then met her. and seen her as a very perfect victim to ruin (though she is not ruined) at 2:04 he's scouting out his prey. when her hands touched his chest leaving very temporary white handprints, that shows that sometimes when someone is so toxic, nothing can save them, and the people who try to do so will get "infected" or hurt by it. at 2:35 she realized that there was no winning the fight so she fell down to him. when he kissed her, it was basically his way of "claiming" her. when he put her into the bathtub of black water I assume, it was his way of hiding everything he did, by pretending she was already that way and that he was innocent. When making this music video, he made the lyrics seem like he was broken, but the video basically said that he is a toxic and terrible person and that he "infects" everyone. Just my theory.🤷🏻‍♀️

What I got was that he represents hate and depression while she represents lightness and happiness, at first he is curious to her but then she tries to make him happy and fails. It shows it's easier to turn something dark then light and happy when Richie wins in the end

The darkness only knows darkness, and when he notices the light, he's curious (which is why he looks like he's sniffing her), then he starts yelling at her because he doesn't know how to act toward light, and she steps back toward the bathtub because the light is what she knows, but then he realizes to try a different approach, and by being gentle is when she allows herself to be kissed, but then she realizes she doesn't want to be dark, but it's too late, it overtakes her. Darkness is scary at first, and we try to fight it, but then it becomes alluring, and we think we can handle just a taste, but then we drown in it.

This is what I thought of this video: Depression is a sickness, which can take you over completetly even though you try your best to control it. Most of the time, depression is more poweful than you are, which is why many who suffer from said depression decide it's best to take their lives (which I diagree with to a large extent ) Richie here, represents the sadness in you, and Jaclyn is the happiness inside you ( keep in mind all of this is you, not two diffrent people. ) Richie is covered in black paint, which is often a color associated with depression. Day by day, the sadness in you over powers your happy self, and you slowly become more vunerable. I associated this with how Richie's black paint slowly covered Jaclyn. Jaclyn ( representing happiness ) finally decides that she's done for trying, and dosen't stop Ricie from kissing her. After they finally make full contact, your happy self starts to 'melt away' and that part of you is no longer there. You're completely taken over by sadness and you're suddenly being suffocated by it.

I keep coming back to his music, even though I know he’s a bad person. I just can’t ignore His talent.

I think this is about an abusive relationship. First, he looks at her like she's an object- not a person. He gets mad for seemingly no reason, and when she tried to fight back, he ignored it entirely (the handprints just disappear). But he gets to her, and his words/anger/actions become a part of her and stay with her forever (instead of disappearing, the black began spreading). Whenever she gives in and "kisses him" it just ends up affecting her negatively and becomes a part of her. Eventually it gets out if hand. He drags her into abuse to a point where she can't get out (she gets dragged into the bathtub). This is just my opinion, idk if it's true or not.

So basically the storyline is out of order.. This was part 3, Villain part 1 and Empress part 2. His "EMPRESS" Is his darkness, depression or dark thoughts which take him over completely and in turn he becomes the "VILLAIN" and hurts those around him. But his "FILTHY PRIDE" prevents him from learning his lesson with the first girl. And in the end he ruins Jaclyn and submerges her in his filth and blackness, and her white handprints sumbolizing her touch and attempt to change him, but in the end, his touch alone covered her and hers faded back to black. .

Despite the kind of person Richie is, I still find this song impressive. Obvious it's about a toxic relationship from the toxic person's perspective, but it can show how sometimes the amount of darkness, self-hatred and self-destruction can lead to you hurting others. One has become so blinded that they barely comprehend or understand how to love someone properly or how to not hurt others. This is why we have to put ourselves first before getting into any form of commitment. Before you love others, you have to love and accept yourself

After so many year this song still reminds me about my "bad" side fighting them "good" side.
