I am now 100% perm and total VA. I applied for SS disability and was turned down 3 times even with a lawyer. The last time I was 80% plus IU and had a seizure in the court but they said I could still wrap silverware part time in a restaurant. My 100% took me 26 years to get from the VA because they misdiagnosed me. I just gave up but would love another opinion.
Social Security moved VERY quickly to approve my claim. Starting from filing, then court all the way to first deposit, it took a bit less than a year and really helped my family during the wait for the VA claim which took about 2 years after that, but was 100% P&T. The first year was the hardest, waiting for the SSA benefit because we had no income at all, but once you get it, the wait for the VA is much better.
I'm a disabled veteran with diabetes and I have seizures I lost my job because of the seizures an the VA doctors say I have small hole in my heart today need the patch I'm already taking nitroglycerin and insulin I have sciatica on my right side on the outside of my leg and in my back
Please get some rep for SSD your waste a lot of time. Try to get one that specializes in Social Security disability I’ve been there and they know what I’m talking about as far as veterans are getting preference well I don’t think so the trade is 200 Vet claims they all go to the top.
I have a 90% combined disability rating from the VA and am on Social Security. I was told by the Social Security that I could not get SS Disability because I did not work in the United States for the required period of time before my claim. Is that true?
Is there any help for vets who fell under SSB, in lieu of retirement? I am 10% due to hearing loss. Now they want to take that to repay the " bonus" I received the get out as opposed to retiring. I have a Desert Storm claim in dispute at about 900 days now. Thank you.
I know the VA hates outside lawyers or other reps that are not service connected use service military what about the Purple Heart VFW disabled veterans association for VA cleans for Social Security claims you need an attorney it takes from when you first file to when you go before the judge close to three years if you win everything is retro.
I applied for veterans benefits. Iam a veterans widow he passed 8 years ago and they said i was getting widows pension and that was all. He passed from kidney cancer he served in VietnamHe was only getting 106 .00 a month in compensation till he passed.The goverment lies they dont help like they say
I was told by Social Security that I was not eligible for Social Security Disability Benefits because I did not work in the US in the 10 years prior to my request but could start my Social Security Benefits at age 65 (AUG 2017) which I did. I am now 100% Disabled (VA) Permanent & Total and wonder if I could get Social Security Disability and if so would it give me a higher payment then I already get having filed at age 65.
I was denied today. Just apealed now. I'm %100 permanent and total disabled for ptsd mental health with the va military service..medically retired as well with my gs job for ptsd major depression disorder wife is care giver at home...been in treatment for years and present treatment too...on meds homebound don't like leaving my house have panic attacks anger issues severe anxienty concentration problems..been to a mental health hostipal for 30 days because I had suicidal attempts all the evidence in the world records letters and a lot more and denied. What a corrupted system and sad. I appealed today after being denied today. What a disrespect this process it truly is. Even have a statement from my phycoligist stating that it's his opinion that I cannot participate in any substantial gainful employment that would put people in danger and myself in danger and even a layout of my severe systems. Still denied. Unreal. Plus took 8 months then denied...no epidited process..nothing. I even had 2 knee reconstruction surgeries, degenerative disc desease lumbar spine, all sorts of stuff going on. 8 month long wait for a big denial
I'm currently going through a military medical board and will be medically retired in the next few months. Ive heard if soldiers applying and receiving social security while going through the medical board. Is that right and how do I apply while still in?
