I was med discharge after 26 yesterday in the army, applied for and received ssdi for 5 yrs. Then they reviewed my case and determined my injuries had improved enough that I could go back to work, they hadn't. AM now trying to get back on and it's taking forever. Had to sell my house in Florida, as without that income we couldn't afford to live there. Of all the people on ssdi , vets should be the one that get it automatically, not the morbidly obece who did it to themselves. If you get disability from the VA, it should Come from ss as well. Just my opinion.
I was in for 26 years, my VA rating is 100% due to unemployability. SSDI has a different rating system, they make it so you NEED a lawyer to get it, but it's worth it.
Thank you for your acknowledgment on your post to our Veterans. 🙏 Our men & women who've fought deserve 👏 ❤ 💙 EVERYTHING AVAILABLE to better their lives. In my opinion, they're quickly forgotten & not treated with the utmost respect that they truly truly deserve. Love, respect and a salute to ALL OF OUR HEROS, TODAY & FOREVER. 🇺🇸
Getting VA Disability is a full time job. Going to all the appts the meds and maintaining the pace needed to get service connection requires commitment and dedication. If you’re going for SSDI I suggest keeping that same work ethic. That means making lots of drs appointments getting prescriptions and going to as many specialists as possible. Diagnosis and medical evidence are key to winning your claims so BE RELENTLESS! You have an obligation to NEVER QUIT. Poverty is the enemy and you can NEVER surrender!
I applied for disability 18 months and 6 days ago. I’m 100% rated through the VA, 100% disability rating from the Army, medically retired after 18 years due to my injuries sustained in combat. They definitely haven’t expedited my process. I had to complete multiple social security exams. I am praying that SS approves me. SS backdated my disabilities to December 2019 although I applied in August 2021.
If you show them your dd214 and a disability award letter from the VA, you can ask for the expedited process. However, as crappy as it is to wait, the longer you wait the better the back pay can be if you get approved. Good luck brother, hope you find out soon if you haven't already and the results are in your favor.
I'm fighting with ss now I'm 100%and had ssi now they say I've improved but I'm not ss stop my ssi in 2016 and been fighting with them to get it back keep getting denied
I did 22 years retired and 100% disabled , currently working but could barely walk or have any range in motion. I'm currently going through treatment and therapy which really isn't helping at all. I appreciate your videos and now I have some knowledge after watching this I appreciate you brother and for helping everyone else that need it. Stay blessed!
Absolutely, their service and sacrifices for our nation deserve the utmost respect and recognition. Thank you for your support in honoring these brave individuals.
Here’s what I did… Long before (about 5 years) I filed for SSDI, I had been seeing my VA doctor and my private practice doctor for my injuries. Whatever meds they gave me, I consistently took. Specialist and therapies, I never missed an appointment. I also had a SSDI lawyer file my SSDI and represent me. I was approved in about 5 months, solely because of my history with my doctors, and every document my lawyer asked for and said was needed, I was able to email within second since I have everything related to my injury in my phone and computer. Having the lawyer was very important.
Thank you for your info. I am trying to increase my VA percentage to 100. I was very recently told that I may qualify for social security benefits. So I'm going to be applying soon. Thanks for informing me on things to expect.
My Naval Intelligence vet son has been DENIED A SECOND TIME FOR SS DISABILITY. It's absolutely unreal!! My God he can't EVEN FUNCTION!!! WTH DO THESE PEOPLE WANT!!!????💥😭 🙏 God help US!!!
VA I am 100% disabled and have SMC housebound plus TDIU. I asked the SS IF I qualified she asked my age I AM 84 she said, “ No. After 65 people are no longer eligible even to apply.
I am 100% P&T, from Unemployability. I was at 80% for 8 years until I got the 100% P&T for Unemployability. SSDI refused my claim because they said I was out of the work force too long because I had not worked in the last 5 years. I also was refused unemployment benefits from the state when I was discharged because I couldn't work....

GREAT information! My questions are 1) What if you sit at home and day trade securities (stocks, options, currency, futures), how does that affect both of those payments? And 2) What if you start an LLC, or business in general, that becomes profitable. Should we not take an income from the business?
Hi. Good questions! To learn more about what income affects your check and how much you can make (SGA), watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lfuF8tYSrhY.html.
I'm a vet, that's receiving SSDI benefits and I'm coming up on my CDR review year and the V.A. is my primary care provider, where can I receive the forms so that my V.A. therapists and specialists can fill out to get my case in a winnable format?🤔

I tried getting social security since i am 100%, but social security kept having problems getting the VA to send them documentation so they turned me down, because they stated that they sent requests and never got replies from VA.
I am a Veteran and was emailed yesterday that my disability claim was in final review which could take 2 to 4 weeks....it has been a little over 4 months to this point, Am I in a good or bad position ?
Wow! I’ve been waiting 18 months and 6 days! I applied at the beginning of August 2021. I have an insane amount of medical documents though so maybe that’s the reason.
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It's important to understand that the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are separate entities and have different rules for disability benefits. If you're receiving VA disability benefits, it doesn't automatically disqualify you from receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). However, the SSA does consider all income and resources when determining eligibility for SSI, which is a needs-based program. If your VA benefits increase your income above the SSI limits, it could affect your eligibility. If you believe there's been a mistake, you can appeal the SSA's decision. For appeals, I suggest that you take advantage of a free Disability Digest membership because it includes a step-by-step disability approval course and live support to help you get approved. The free course has saved many up to $7,200 in legal fees. If you would like to consider having a representative help you get approved, you can discuss this option with one of our Advocates. Got TDIU years ago. Never new about SSDI. Apparently it’s too late for me since I haven’t worked in more than 5 years…Zero advice on applying for SSDI when I got TDIU. Instead of guiding veterans towards these benefits it’s like they do their job to hide it from you. Even with VA benefits I didn’t apply until 10 years after I was discharged simply because I didn’t know either.
Hi. We focus on helping people with their social security disability income, and I'm not familiar with the railroad system so I'm not able to comment on the difference. Thanks.
I have Tri Care my husband was E8 U.S.Navy for 23yr he died with cancer at 53 I am 78 now I also get my husband disability from department of Defense. Can I lose that l have had it since I was 53yr can you explain it to me. No one ever has
I am a 100% rated veteran. I was sent to a hand doctor who was out of the VA. When the procedure was completed and billed, the VA sent this to Medicare and my 2nd insurance to pay the 20% Medicare dosent pay. How is that a benefit the veteran.
I'm not sure that Medicare can be billed for services under VA authorization, because that is a VA responsibility. VA hospitals themselves can not bill Medicare. But this is not your problem.
Hi Doug thanks for sharing. It is good practice to get confirmation of payment before the appointment. Do you have a Medicare advantage plan? or just Medicare A and B basic
@@TheDisabilityDigest I have part “A” I don’t have part “B”. I do have a “F” supplement . Talking with my VA doctor, we decided that I could just continue with what I’ve been doing. So, the best thing I can say, is the VA does furnish all of my medications.
His statement doesn't hold true. If you're 100% on the VA side you must have the following: a) health records b)at least 40 quarters of work records c) In some cases be close to the age of 55. I was sent to three C&P exams and passed all with first time "go". The last doctor I saw said the only patients getting approved were people that had heart problems. I had no heart problems.
Is there any advantage to being granted Individual Unemployability, from the VA, when applying for SSDI? Also, would a neuropsyche eval from a civilian psychologist carry more weight than a VA/military psychologist?
How can i get vetran help ? I get $148.oo a month for hering.. the V.A. tells me thats all i can get... im unemployable, and kind of messed up.. knees, sholders, and mental health issues ... any help would be loved... ive only went to the 8th. Grade in school so im not good at doing this stuff... thank you
At 18 i was in Germany and developed a bad drinking problem, a good friend got me to ask for help , i talked to a counselor 2 times, 45 minutes each, they shiped me home ! I wasnt home 30 days and was in jail and have had a bunch of drinking charges ! All i wanted was help and to be a career soldier !
Please go to your local VA hospital and request to see an orthopedic for your knees and shoulders; and a psychiatrist for your mental health. But you have to be diagnosed first. Your illnesses could be service connected.
For 2022 you can earn $970 a month and keep your Social Security Disability benefits. The $970 is gross if you are a W-2 employee or net after expenses if you are self-employed filing 1099. The video on the website below shows you the SSA regulation: www.thedisabilitydigest.com/how-much-i-can-make
@@chriswilliamson806 veterans that own houses cannot take advantage of the sweet tax breaks like free installation of solar panels, because they dont pay taxes without jobs
@DEFECTiVE well, let me give you my 2 cents.. I'm a DV.. I also bought my home 2 years ago. I'm 43, and had several surgeries from my service. Your comment that we don't pay taxes, as a reason is laughable. I'm disabled because of my service to the country. There's a reason why veterans get disability tax free. Same as most benefits from the federal government. You think being in the military that they make a lot of money? I still paid taxes while on active duty, and when i applied on my payment record. The government said they couldn't use that information.
@@chriswilliamson806 do you think that because your disability, injury, or hurt came from your time serving the country that they owe you. i think that ssdi should not be taxed but va should. im a 100% disabled va medically retired veteran. i think it should be taxed.
@DEFECTiVE I was medically retired. No one says you can't calculate what the tax rate is on your rating would be, and give that back or donate it. That's your choice. I had over 11 years when I got injured, and had 3 neck surgeries costing over $700k to fix what was done to me while serving my country. So, no I don't think VA disability should be taxed. When I retired, my retirement check at $880 was taxed. That was based upon my percentage of my base pay at 40%, plus I paid for Tricare as well out of that. How much tax would you like the government to take without curbing pork spending? Like for the museum of natural history, or the amount that was stolen during Covid? Since we're talking about money. Only 4% of Covid finds went to the American public.. The country has bigger issues than taxing veterans that were promises by their government to be taken care of if in the event they were injured while serving.
