Nice to see a video from you. 😊 When I’m feeling stressed, I knit smaller and smaller things like hats and easy mitts. I definitely have projects that I have abandoned. Something about them just doesn’t work and so they sit there. Do whatever you need to. 😀

A lovely relaxing video. I crochet and I do quilt making from time to time, but I don’t knit. I so want to learn , but at age 66 I wonder if I’ve left it a bit late. I see so may beautiful makes in knitting designs. Those stripey socks are beautiful in my eyes . I would definitely finish them; think of the time you’ve already give them. If anyone can recommend a good tutorial for a complete beginner knitter , I’d be very grateful. Happy New Year .

It's funny how you mentioned crocheting dishcloths when you're really not okay, because I paused your video just before that to grab my single crochet scrappy shawl project because I feel like absolute garbage today. Christmas Eve is always full of frenzied cleaning, but I actually had a meltdown because everything seemed to be getting to me, from my cat leaving a mess on the dog's bed to dreading cleaning the bathroom (particularly the bathtub) to my cat harassing me all afternoon. (She's sulking in her kennel after I put her in for a time-out.) Right now the shawl is bringing me a smidgen of comfort. I only wish I had more oddballs to throw into it. I should probably eat some dinner (it's just gone 7pm), but I'm lacking the motivation. Thanks for the video. Hopefully your stress will be eased soon :)

Happy holidays! Maybe rip the socks out entirely, make him something else. And perhaps repurpose the sock yarn as socks for your little one and matching mittens? Or just hold it double and knit mittens that way? All the manor homes and castles etc in the UK done up for Christmas make me wistful, we have nothing that even compares in the states. It looks like a lovely way to do a fun festive thing.

Such a lovely video. My advice for the socks - rip back and put in a contrast heel in - use white or one of the colours in the sock.

I adore your videos! I've followed for YEARS and glad to see anything you post. Yes, I notice that when I'm in a good space with mental health, I have ideas and projects and I want to do it all. When I'm not feeling myself entirely, I'll do crochet square blankets because they give me quick satisfaction using scraps. When I feel truly disjointed, I won't touch any crafts. I just try to listen to books or read books. My years go back and forth, but chaos and construction at home make me very uneasy. Socks are good for mindless work, but grab chunky will projects to snap myself out of a funk.

When you mentioned that your sock was from 2016, I thought well, that's not too bad, and then you referenced "seven years" and then it hit me. My goodness, where has the time gone? I always love to hear that special, magical music you've used forever for your festive season podcasts. If you don’t think you will enjoy finishing those socks, put them away and make something that will make you happy. If he wears hats, that would be a quicker project but you can always put almost finished socks in a box and wrap it up! Lol. Have a Blessed, happy Christmas.

Thank you for posting your video. An early, happy Christmas gift for me. I’ve followed you since before your wedding. Enjoy making the socks for your husband in a yarn and pattern that satisfies. I just completed embroidery and knitting projects started in 1994! It made me happy to finish them and admired the me that made parts of them long ago (I don’t think I could recreate them today).

You came up with the brilliant idea for knitters to Cast On a sock on Christmas Eve! You can feel good knowing how many knitters around the globe will be casting on a sock on Christmas Eve! Thank you for bringing us all together on Christmas Eve!❤️🧦🧶Have you tried knitting sleeves using two circular needles. I use two circulars instead of dpns for decreasing the crown of a hat, sleeves, socks etc. Pick out a new skein of sock yarn and knit up a pair of socks for David. You can finish them after Christmas. He will love them. So nice to see your little one and Mum on the video. I have 21 wips on my Ravelry page.

It's so lovely to see a podcast from you! I definitely have a phase of crafting during stressful times. Mine is similar to yours and I definitely resort to dishcloths and buying cotton yarn! We had a huge move this summer across the US and it was very stressful and I packed knitting but not anything for dishcloths. I ended up buying needles and about 6 skeins of cotton yarn and a crochet hook! I ended up making a huge stack of dishcloths! 😂I am sorry that you have had a rough time! ❤❤❤

I agree that little heel stripe in the Buffy yarn isn't great. Instead of ripping back, could you cut the yarn tube in half, removing the heel and little stripe, and use the two lengths of tube to finish the socks? Might save all that wasted knitting!
