SoD Phase 4 Trailer + my thoughts on SoD 

I think Xaryu is mostly right on the misguided focus on class design. It feels like the team spent WAY TOO MUCH time on balancing classes and tweaking runes, when in reality, I think the real reason people started playing SoD was for the potential new content (Kara crypts, Uldum, etc). I also think the devs overestimated the novelty of "discovering" runes. Maybe turning the runes into skillbooks and making those skills standard for the various specs they're obviously intended for would have been sufficient.

New places to discover > Class design

Agree with this 1,000,000% - class design is not what I was looking for. MAAAAAAYBEEE a spell or two here and there, maybe a buff or two but that’s it man.

I thought season of discovery was gonna be about discovering new areas in the game, new dungeons and raids and quests. I agree with smaller tweaks to classes and what not

The community cried out for new dungeons / raids and adjustments to "meme specs"... not give every class wrath and retail abilities and scale up damage on everything. I quit a while ago and will not return sadly.

People love to complain about SoD because it’s trendy and gets engagement. I have enjoyed SoD since P1 and haven’t quit playing. I do not have any interest in playing stock Vanilla 1.12 anymore. It has been a blast doing the 50-60 grind with balanced and enjoyable classes, plus new and reworked items that were useless prior.

Let's see if it even survives until TWW release

The new classes are fun, but we were sold on new raids. Scarlet raid, kara crypts raid. The idea of exploring content that was left out of classic. Old hyjal... not level 60 mc... bwl..ony..ect.

If there wasn't a rogue tank spec, I would've quitted at p2. Nobody wanted rogue for gnomer, I had to lie my way into raids as a tank saying that I can but had zero knowledge and just learned my through the phase. It didnt take me much but then managed to solo tank the whole raid by then.

i don't think many mages are healing or rogues/locks are tanking any meaningful content since p2. seems to me like the specs that were always meant to heal or tank are the ones that are best at it.

I personnally wished they didnt overtune all the mobs at higher levels.

My favourite class (Hunter) is pretty unrecognizable and been on and off OP the entirety of SoD. I didn't ask for this. The only part of SoD I have liked so far has been Bloodmoon, I wish they bring back Bloodmoon in a less changed classic in the future

Everyone saying class changes are bad, but good luck selling people on a Classic+ if 1/2 the specs remain unplayable and about 2-3 are somewhat engaging to play. There absolutely HAS to be some class rebalancing and something carried over from the rune experimenting. I'm sorry, but spamming 1 ability just gets boring.

lock tank, mage healer is one of the best ideas of Sod. wtf u talking about? But yes, dial back on runes and nerf all dmg across the board.

I was very excited for SoD to come out, but when it did, I felt like it's a private server that aims to ignite nostalgia but fails to do so. I'm glad I skipped it entirely.

For me, they lost the opportunity of making something good... Game feels completly off now... Phase 1 and 2 where fine, Phase 3 and 4 garbage... to many class habilities and type of content with dailies and crap from retail... PVP BG queues make the game unplayable...

tldr: Opinions on SoD are fair but their getting to entitled, the Discovery in SoD may differ between you and the Devs but thats ok. Bruh the entitlement everyone keeps pushing with these opinions is crazy, everyone had an idea of what the Season of Discovery was gonna be and what they wanted to see from it, and guess what yall pretty much got it. Were your expectations met in the exact way you wanted? No they weren't but this is blizzard we are talking about they haven't been about giving us exactly what we wanted in the way we thought we wanted merely in the vision of what they think players would enjoy. Healer Mage, Tank Rogue and Warlock were badly executed and thats fair but to say they shouldnt have been apart of SoD in the first place is insane just because you dont like the idea of it doesn't mean there wasnt a group of people who were like "cool im interested in trying this stuff out". Yet at the same time your ok with the other stuff like tank shaman or melee hunter being a thing because why? There have been groups of players trying to innovate how they played their classes even before SoD, theres nothing wrong with classes evolving along with their players, so long as it doesnt go to far that they outshine other classes that are dedicated to roles making them obsolete or try to be their exact copies (but thats just my opinion). Runes are a great addition to class building, not as innovative as i would like but hey their something. The dev team wanted to take risk and try stuff out or in short Discover new possibilities for classics world and its people so they gave us that maybe not the in the way many wanted but they succeeded in that regard.

I really wish we got 0 new class things, and only new raids and zones. No level caps, P1 is leveling to 60 with some new quests/zones/dungeons. P2 is everyone is 60. I want classic +, not classic +++++, not retail -. I should probably just play turtle wow shouldn't I? I've put it off because its still a small private server in my eyes. Maybe its worth checking out...

The meta form for Warlocks still pisses me off. It’s so out of place in the old world. Minor thing, but sums everything up - just off the mark.

It's probably just retail fanboys who are calling you names - I agree completely with you Xaryu, but I would dial everything back not 20%, but about 90%. I have played WoW since 2006 and I am not a fan of SoD at all. SoD just does not have Classic feel, it is retail WoW in Classic appearance. I don't quite understand why would Blizzard not just add some new dungeons, storylines, maybe a raid to Classic WoW (similar to how OSRS is developed as you mention sometimes), instead of turning it into another retail version of WoW - it's the 3rd one basically (the actual retail, the Cata "Classic" which is close to retail now, and now SoD which turned Classic into another retail-like)

All the melee classes hit 10x enemies in a giant cleave attack. WTF this isn't even Classic WoW anymore. Phase 4 looks so terrible. I'm literally not leveling to 60. SoD is an open beta environment and it feels awful to play.

I always come off as just blindly hating new blizzard devs but seriously they waste so much time on this project thinking this is what we want. I will just play TurtleWoW for classic+ or era for classic nochanges. This sod shi has gotta go

Runes have made SOD too much like retail. I simply feel too powerful. Vanilla wow was a great mmoRPG, retail is an ok mmo I guess, but not a great RPG.

Blood moon is the absolute worst! Why even have factions if we can fight ourselves. Paladins and Druids being real tanks is enough. Locks and Rogues… maybe a few boss fights they can tank. They want way too far.

Take away this exp buff 150% and gold buff 300% its destory whole wow classic the experience then the game loses its meaning! the same goes for all these new runes that put in that are way too good? whole gameplay with elite quest disappears too?? SoD phas1 was really good! phase2-4 has unfortunately become somewhat more in the retial direction, the game base doesn't like it. There is the reason why phase1 had almost 4 million players? to just under 100k players in phase4?
