This is a simple but effective folding wire frame stand for my soda can stove.
Build the soda can stove here:

I like your design too. I've seen a few and am trying to make my own.

Very nice demonstration. Some small aluminum or copper tubing available from the hardware store could be used instead of the rolled up can pieces but I like that you used what you had on hand.

I made a similar stand for my Trangia - not quite as nice as yours. For the "hinges" I just used some short sections of 1/4" copper tubing that works quite well and is very secure. You just need to slide the tubing on to the legs before you make your final bends for the feet. Thanks for the video!

Seems like you could use panel strips of aluminum on two of the legs to make a big of an integrated wind screen.

How long will this cook for? What types of containers are recommended for cooking in?

Made the Penny can stove today, but it made a small crack on the sides when i did press it together. But it still works just fine, besides sometimes a flame pops out of the crack. Fuels used: Ethanol with the blue color nail polish remover Both work just fine, and also used brake cleaner, but that doesn't give me a clean blue flame.

daand12 Don't use Any of those Fuels! especially brake cleaner! use Denatured alcohol or the Yellow bottle of Heet!!!!!

Acetone is probably safe to burn. It's similar to ethanol chemically. Might leave soot, though. Ethanol is fine, (albeit expensive, because liquor tax), methanol is fine but has a lower energy density and denaturated alcohol is cheap and good.

What interests me is that there is no flame in the stove after prime. That must have a reason...

Thanks for the video. Stand looks great! At around 7:27 the flame stops coming out of the middle (big hole) and then just starts coming out of the little holes....why does this happen?

Ah, I think your 'new versus improved' video answers this...capillary action?

If you set the pot directly on the stove, the flame will go out. The flame is extremely hot..

I don't have power tools like this. This is somewhat complicated for a nonmechanic. Have you thought about selling these? Really a standard size for any soda can stove. Also, do you need something metal to sit the burning fuel can stove on to keep from burning a counter top? What's the maximum weight of pot this can hold?

Why can't you set the pot directly on the stove?
@suecollins3246

The pot will interfere with the oxygen flow and kill the flame.

Was that rubbing alcohol that is used?
@samoantravv
@samoantravv 6 лет назад
Sent denatured alcohol.. rubbing alcohol works just fine but leaves black soot all over the pots or pans

What happens if you build the pot stands to be lower? Really what I'm wondering is, how does the function of the stove change as the bottom of the pot gets closer and closer, and eventually touches the top of the stove?
@Liv1ngTheDream
@Liv1ngTheDream 6 лет назад
Optimum distance between top of stove and pot is an inch.
