Thank you! Many of my plants are just stuck into the gravel without digging into the soil, so maybe that shallowness is protecting them. We'll see how they fare once the hot days return!
Yes, it's a race to mow before the rain returns. I'm still watching the lithops closely; I'll bring them under cover if it stays wet as it gets colder.
Hello! The mounds are red clay native soil, with 'turf starter' from Toowoomba Landscape Supplies spread 2 to 4cm on top, then covered with about 4cm+ of gravel. I chose the turf starter because of its high sand content, but won't use it again because it stays wet longer than I'd like and gets really hard when dry. I'm still shopping around for an alternative for the next phase of my garden.
@@atoowoombasucculentgarden im wonder if we can buy a bulk scoria here?before i ask toowoomba landscapes if they have scoria they said they don't have it.
Yes, I got lucky to live in a place succulents are available and survive, although I'm starting to love many different garden plants, so I'm learning that a beautiful garden can be created with whatever plants are able to grow where we live. Cheers!
