Table looks great. I used Osmo on a walnut dining table built for my daughter. I like the looks.

I do too. I makes the grain pop without making it even look like there is a finish on.

So interesting seeing how much movement you expect from this wood. Each stage of this build has been another lesson in planning new projects and though my workshop has been below zero for days on end I'm determined to get back out so thanks again for the inspiration.

Yeah my shop is currently at 15 percent humidity. So once it goes in their home it will almost automatically start gaining moisture. Come summer time with the high humidity that base shelf could move upwards of a 1/4.

I love this piece it turned out great, my wife wants me to do something similar to go behind our sofa but with a top cupboard area with about three lift up top pieces for storage as it will go between a wall and the sofa, it will be slightly longer I think but should work well, anyway I think she has added it to my to do list so time will tell 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺

If you are scatter brains like myself, visual markers help so much.

@@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks I am worse because I would use pencil markings for the direction of cut, and from not seeing those well enough, I still cut the wrong way lol. Seeing the green tape is far better. Thanks again and have a great Sunday :)

Is that a giant sander up against the wall 😍
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 7 месяцев назад
That’s a drum sander, that I almost never use, that I wish I could sell and free up some space. But selling tools online is a pain.

I really like the Osmo. Curious on the stretcher: would you have done dovetails instead of a dado? Beautiful results!
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 7 месяцев назад
For a kitchen table, most likely. But, most people don’t have stretchers on bigger tables like that.

How many board feet did it take to make this beautiful table? How much waste do you need to take into consideration? Excellent job
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 7 месяцев назад
I honestly do not track that information closely. Especially on a project like this I just went and got a few boards that I think would work. Waste is minimal on lumber like this that comes surfaced.

I hate to think how many times I have miscut pieces by forgetting about changing the angles to reflect the mirror image of the joint. Confusing just saying it. Table looks great.
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 7 месяцев назад
I miscut all the time. The blue tape really helped on this otherwise there would have been a very large scrap pile.

It’s looking great, but where would you place a table like that, in relation to the sofa? Or am I just dumb?

Beautiful! In regards to getting the angle to the tenon shoulder to match that of the legs - I had been meaning to get this video of mine uploaded and seeing your video reminded me to get it uploaded, so I finished it up today and got it uploaded. It shows a simple, virtually fool-proof (which is good for me) way to cut a rail for a perfect fit between tapered legs. So at the risk of shameless self promotion I'll invite you to check this out- I hope it helps you or one of your viewers out the next time you have to do something like this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Crz1JmfAoaI.html

I saw the video. Great way to do that on the table saw.
@dogwoodtales
@dogwoodtales 7 месяцев назад
@@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks my reply disappeared, sorry if this ends up being a duplicate, anywho - yeah, I show how I do this on a table saw, but this technique would also work on your radial arms saw. Just put the cut-off, or original if needed, against the fence first to get the resultant angle. This also works on a chop saw to cut a work piece to length to match the angle. But just like you do one still has to pay attention to the direction of the angle on the workpiece so one of the ends doesn't get cut backwards.
