In this soft spoken ASMR video, I tell you about the History of the Great Wall, the "Ten-Thousand Mile Wall" (万里长城) and, through it, the history of Ancient China from the birth of civilization around the Yellow River and the Yangtze River to the Ming Dynasty, the last one to maintain and expand the Wall.

that opening was magical ✨ the music, the story, just so perfect. You've really outdone yourself this time Monsieur Whisperer! by the way, your calligraphy is quite good for someone not familiar with Chinese language! The stroke order is incorrect hehe, but the end result still looks very nice, so an impressive effort overall, great job!!

thanks, I practiced a bit before and I made a crash course on youtube but I didn't find a tutorial to write these particular characters. I understand that the strokes should be from top to bottom and left to right, but where do you learn the stroke order?

My daughter is learning mandarin, she learns the stroke order for each character and has packs of flash cards to help her. Luckily she is young and has plenty of time to practice these days!

@@TheFrenchWhispererASMR hantrainerpro.com is great for stroke order if using simplified characters. They show the traditional character too but not stroke order for it. Once you learn the basic rules though, you can usually figure it out. Thank you for all the videos but this one is a special treat.

@@TheFrenchWhispererASMR if you’re committed to it, it’s just something you pick up over time. Keep in mind that all characters are made up of recognizable and reproducible strokes.

I recently watched your very first ASMR video you ever made, 7 years ago, and I have to say, your voice, is still absolutely amazing. The transitions you have made, from when you started to now, is incredible. I have always found your voice to be very very relaxing, and I have always enjoyed listening to your facts about amazing topics, like planets, or ghost towns. My all time favorite one you have ever done, is the 4 hour Space Exploration video you made. It was absolutely awesome, and the amount of facts just blew me away. Not to denigrate the ASMR-tists who crinkle cellophane / clink beads / brush hair and stuff... But this is a work of genius. This is the ASMR equivalent of a epic tale, like from Homer, or The 1001 Arabian Nights. This is Orientalism in a good way, without all the niggling over cultural appropriation (how benighted and colonialist of me) In short, both a National Geographic presentation and a Balm of Gilead for the soul and senses.

Great content! Learning about Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, and maybe even in the future India are all very critical. The ancient seed of life leading to modernity would help us understand how to go forward.
