One of the biggest advantages of working as a software developer is that your skills are highly in demand as many countries are experiencing a shortage in finding suitable qualified domestic candidates to fill the many unfilled vacancies in this field. As a software developer you might consider relocating to or within Europe in order to get a higher salary, better quality of life as well as the opportunity to experience a new country and culture. In this video I have broken down the salaries of software developers in various countries in Europe including:
0:00 - Intro
1:51 - Switzerland
3:00 - France
4:13 - Germany
5:10 - Sweden
6:05 - Luxembourg
6:40 - Netherlands
7:35 - Italy
8:30 - Belgium
9:45 - Finland
10:38 - United Kingdom
11:38 - Ireland

Really informative. Thank youS I think a great follow up video would be to focus on remote work (i.e., living in a European country but working remotely for a company in another European country, or the U.S.) Also, I'd like to know about other E.U. countries, but specifically Spain and Portugal. Thanks again!

Thanks for the video . Could you please confirm the high salary for Germany and Ireland . I believe that several vacancies in Germany ,highly experienced seniors can easily clear 80-90k on average . With regards to Ireland , the average is way higher than 45k for software devs/engs . It is closer to the 60-70k range with 100-120k as an average for the top end of the spectrum for seniors Note : FAANG compensations are not included in the above salary ranges for both countries .

@ExpatWell
@ExpatWell 2 года назад
My main recommendation from a student's point of view is to factor in which country you might want to work or study in (after you graduate) before you pick which country you want to study abroad in. The reason for this is if you can show that you can do well at a local university it is much easier to get into a university in that country for grad school as well as get a job in that country.

Very sad, I thought I had a low salary but seeing how much people get in EU and how much taxes they pay, I can say that moving to EU isn't worth it at all. With these salaries you won't be able to afford shit. US is best for programmers and they are the best technology wise for a reason - they value their workers time, effort and work. The low salaries of EU tech companies will be their downfall, since no one wants to work efficiently for a salary that can't compensate for a basic life.
