I hope they NEVER sell the Rights to these True Adventures to hbo or any other “media” conglomerate. If they’re going to create a Mi I series they should do it via Independent Film Makers such as Angel Studios or the like. Those Corporate “media” ScumBags are the same bunch that’s been screwing us Veterans since day one. Wake Up!
The situations that these SOG operators have been in and survived are incredible. I am in awe of these hero’s. Thank y’all for your service to our country.
They surelly are and better then any movie, hollywood could make some realistic movies based on this instead of the crap they re doing for ages,i dont watch movies at this days its all more of the same.
True bad ass super heros. They don’t wear capes! They have car-15’s , camo and a HELL OF A LOT of ammo. God bless ‘em all. Love these guys. I’m glad they are getting the recognition they deserve.
@@gorukooo my view was about the story the argument not the visuals actually special efects are the only thing i apreciate in hollywood i dont want to see some stuff either i imagine war has lots of horrible scenes that i cant even imagine but those i dont think anyone wanna see it,i give you an example with blackhawkdown or 13 hours of begazhi why didnt they stick more glued to the truth?the stuff they added in those both movies that didnt happend or didnt happend that way it didnt add anything to the movies and ppl might get with a rong idea of what happened there o really prefer to listen to soldiers that were there then the movies about it and in my view if the story was well telled i should prefer the movies cause it has music ,special efects ect it has everything to be better then just 1 person telling the story. But like you said the majority ,iam not like the majority on any sense.specially in theese days.
@@Rui_Miguel_ My point is real combat footage is not entertaining for most people. A guy getting hit by a real grenade and screaming is very different than a giant fireball someone disappears in. Tyler Gray, a former Delta Force operator said on the Shawn Ryan podcast that BlackHawk down was the most realistic portrayal of any military operation. But you still have to take it with a grain of salt because it’s a movie.
Tilt, I keep waiting, hoping, praying that you can get Lynne Black to do an episode. I've read, and listened to a lot of the stories of his but I know there's gotta be some more that haven't been told. Thanks for all that you've done to get the history of SOG out there.
I'm a bit younger than you gentlemen, (68) but grew up with the Vietnam war. Recently discovered these podcast about SOG. I have no words to describe the pride I feel for all of you. I want to thank you John for giving us the privilege of getting to know you brave men. God bless you all.
David brought up a very good point. The SOGCasts are instrumental in helping the interviewees (and all who view/listen), by sharing their pain through what they endured aiding in the "healing" process.
Bless the heros like this. What a amazing story not only of badassery. But a real story of how strong the human spirit can be. A true legend right here. Vietnam vets are the unsung heros. Fighting a unpopular war and coming home to fight for veterans rights. Welcome home and thank you for your service.
You are my hero times two. My hubs and i have been on vol fire and rescue since mid 80s. Even have a pic of me bracing on the hood of a 6x6 during a wind pushed cornfield then timber fire!! Still active EMTs, but i can no longer do fires- too many surgeries- back, knees, now feet- cant get into the trucks. Awesome career and amazing interview. Thank you for your service, welcome home and so glad you are still upright and sharing.
Great job! 45 yrs. old and biggest regret is not joining the military after 9/11..listening to these stories and obv Jocko’s stories as well are fascinating and I love how Mr Gordon joined the Fire Dept at 46! Maybe there’s hope after all! Thank you for your service and dedication to this country! Wish there were more like you gentlemen being raised in America today, I wouldn’t be as nervous for our future
Years ago I asked my boss what spec opp guys do after they get out of the military. Without hesitation, he said "whatever they set their mind to." It stuck with me and after awhile I saw they ALL went on to amazing things. From law school to flying planes and many more adventures. Very special people. They read everything they can get their hands on, work out non stop and know how to ask a question. So pick a goal and do it. Good luck.
Let’s go! Always love listening, but more specifically watching these interviews a second time. The first being the original Apple podcast. Always a completely different vibe when you can watch these demeanor of these true American heroes on camera. It adds so much more dimension to these amazing stories. Keep ‘em coming!
Man it’s so Amazing what these guys lived through! When I think I’ve had a bad day all I have to do is listen to these S.O.G warriors who lived to tell these stories. My Bad day is not even close to any of the “just another day in S.O.G”
LOVE the SOG stories. From one Veteran to another, thank you and your brothers and family for your service and sacrifices. Also thank you for sharing. I know it’s not always the easiest thing to do. CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS!!,😊👊🏼
I had not heard of a night time Bright Light mission. Incredible! Thank you, David, for sharing. It’s clear how emotional this is and it’s inspiring to hear you tell it.
When I hear these stories, I’m so thankful my deployment was completely uneventful. I remember being a kid in high school thinking “I wanna do all this cool shit”, then later on in life I say “glad my time was easy and boring”.
First of all Thanks Tilt as always for doing this! It’s really great that y’all included the Sniper Role info in this episode. So many have preconceived notions about the utilization of Snipers. Snipers are an ever evolving Force Multiplier and no Sniper missions are ever “routine” in the classical sense.
The nurse that treated David at Phu Bai was Rosemary Mae (Nelson) Dawes. Unfortunately she passed in 2021. I was hoping I could put David in contact with her.
Having a miniseries for SOG like we had for Band of Brothers and the Pacific would be amazing! Any word on where we can buy signed copies of Tilt’s and other guest’s books?
@@johnmeyer8140 Hey John. Do they have signed copies on Amazon? If so I haven’t found any. Happy to pay for a signature. SOG Cast is something I look forward to and have been hooked ever since your interview on Jocko Podcast. What y’all did was truly amazing! If you are ever in Tallahassee, FL you have a place to stay and an invite to dinner and the beer is on me.
This is my n1 podcast go to,iam not American i dont have militaire background altho i love the life lessons we can take from here and i admire the warrior spirit and the hard missions this guys have been into all respect from me,thank you all that make this podcast possible.stay save and healthy 💪
@johnmeyer8140 thank you sir. I was adopted by some wonderful people. God bless and thanks for your amazing stories and service....heroes you are🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Another great cast. One name sticks with me after listening. I live in a small SW MO. town of Mt.Vernon. We had a family physician that was once a Green Beret medic. His name was Ron Williams.
Sniper rifle would of been a heavy barrel Remington 700 bolt action chambered in 308 / 762.51 not a Remington 600 prior to that it would've been a Winchester model 70 bolt action chambered in 30.06
Sog stories are the most unbelievable accounts ive ever read. If it was a movie, you'd think, yea sure no way they fought off a battalion/division etc. Real deal gunfighting cowboys!
Hey Jocko, just wanted to say I love the podcast and let you know the first 36 episodes won't play on Spotify properly, the episode will play but there is no audio. Thanks for everything you do!
What would be the purpose? on a podcast that is focused solely on very specific unit in a war that happened before goggins was even born? Why? So we can here how hard BUDS was for the millionth time? I'd rather listen to stories about sog on sogcast....idk call me crazy but just makes sense to me
They need to hurry up and make a MAC V Sog movie before these guys are all gone. theres not many left. They also need to star me in it! that would be an achievement and honor of a lifetime
Quite a few don't maintain and haven't had contact with others in decades or just lost contact Many had and have absolutely zero desire to talk about their service or the war don't care for anyone to even know and no desire to have any association or affiliation with the vet groups and stuff some these guys are in and do So very few even left now as they die left and right from the usual shit at that age but a ton died throughout decades Many in the 70s and 80s in wrecks accidents from drugs drinking all sorts of shit Quite a few sog guys and regular sf and some seals from Nam were core members of popular biker clubs in 70s
Okay now after listening several of these there's three things now that I've noticed first one is the acknowledgment of the Living God when is The Bravery and the love for the next Soldier and the Foreigner and the soldiers sweetheart be in the third one you don't really hear a lot of that anymore you know and it said a lot more of the cheating or oh she's sleeping around on her husband while he's all fight for his country a year and all the just hooking up instead of a beautiful relationship to people working at love
