The guy that was laughing is a star singer in Korea that was so amazed by this performance by So Hyang, he called her "The Voice". A highest praise and he also said after he heard her sing, it made him want to work on his craft more and become a greater singer than he already is. So Hyang inspires so many professionals singers that there is a 11 minute video out there where many other pro Korean singers are amazed and talking praises of her. She is very inspirational . She is also very kind and a humble person.This is the reason why she is my favorite vocalist.
@@hktan9142 I'm sorry. I was thinking of a different video so it's almost an 11 minute video and the title is in Korean and English. Try typing "Koreans Singers React To So Hyang". If that doesnt work , look up So Hyang on the search bar and go to view setting on youtube and hit the popular button and scroll down to 930,000 views. You might have to type in Hongul "소향" and do the same as above. Hope this helps. It's a really entertaining video. You will love it! The other guys on stage, who are all young modern Korean pop stars were already established as part of the ‘begin again Korea’ ensemble & Sohyang only joined them when the ‘token elder’ who usually sings with them was unable to do it. When she met them all they were starstruck. Some of these video’s do carry on with what happened after the performance is done & they get the other singers comments. Amongst many other comments, the guy on the left of Sohyang, the one that laughed, said, when asked,that having Sohyang sing in their group was, for a singer, like having a living textbook with them as far as vocals are concerned. They sang a called ‘day day’ in the same ‘begin again’, but at another venue on another day, & it contains large parts of rap & Sohyang ended up been the rapper because she was the best at it, even amongst all those youngsters, who u would think would me au fait with the genre. I saw rehearsals & the others were really struggling with spitting the lyrics out so fast but she just did it. I didn’t know that it was a song for Johnny Mathis, I just know the Ella Fitzgerald’s version. But now maybe you believe that it isn’t just a fantasy that Sohyang can literally sing any genre & obviously, the more performances you watch, the more this will become apparent

Sohyang very recently did a cover of Don Macleans Vincent for a Korean tv drama . She kept very close to the original and it sounded quite lovely. Her softer vocals are beautiful. Don’t let the blocking and copyright issues deter you from reacting to her. You will not regret it

Sohyang can belt with the best but what makes her so amazing is the way she can take almost any song and take you on a journey that blends the song and singer to another level. How can someone who never sings jazz create such a masterpiece? Please listen to her version of Amazing Grace.and she will take you to heaven.

If you enjoy a voice with a single instrument or very minimal instrumentation then I’m sure you will enjoy all sohyang’s performances from the ‘begin again Korea’ series because the concept is that a small ensemble of musicians/singers go ‘busking’ & put on mini gigs at various venue’s. Sohyang only became involved during the pandemic when the regular ‘token elder’ was unable to perform & she stepped in. Obviously because of the pandemic, these performances for the past couple of years have been restricted to been held within s.Korea, but before that they have performed in other countries too (without Sohyang). There are various video clips of her meeting the other singers as they didn’t know who the replacement was goin to be when their regular member was unable to join them. They were so excited it was Sohyang, I don’t think they could believe their luck & from the very first notes of rehearsals, you could see they were amazed by her vocal abilities. These other performers are some of the most famous pop stars in Korea & there are many clips of them passing comment etc on tape in between songs & subsequent interviews after the show that was a part of the show in korea but obviously outside of korea, the majority of video available for the rest of us to see is just that of the actual performance. In one such clip, the guy to Sohyang’s left in this clip, the guy who was laughing at how good she was, said that having Sohyang join them was like a having a living textbook on the art of singing with them.

Thank you for the reaction. I have joined as a subscriber. So Hyang is one of, if not the best female voice around now. All those musicians with So Hyang are virtuosos, and the woman that was tearing up is such a good singer and you can see her singing on songs with So Hyang (great harmonies). Her name is Suhyun and I have seen her before sitting on stage and just in awe of her fellow musician's (So Hyang's) voice. I believe they are close. These South Korean artists are top notch in every way.

Again I love your reaction ! Actually this was written in early 1959 and words and later just before the Fantastic , Johnny Mathis recorded it in late 59 ! I was born in 1953 and lived up in Northern Canada. We didn’t get this out west till probably1961! I rember watching it on our B&W TV and was nothing a great picture,I think it was on Ed Sullivan Shoe but at 8 years old fell in love with it! SoHyang came along and She became my new favourite but have so much respect For Mr,Mathis’s voice ! Him and Nat King Cole are still among my favourite voices along with, Tony Bennett , Elvis , Paul Anka , Tom Jones and a few other greats! Anyway SoHyang has written a simple song called Higher ( the Acoustic version) accompanied by guitar in a sunlight room and it is heaven ! I agree it was stripped back and beautifully done. Here is another one for you to check out. Lulu has been a UK recording artist since 1964 and has been performing for decades. She reprised one of her iconic songs “To Sir with Love” from the 1967 film she stared in with Sidney Poitier.
