Jazz Fact #131: When President Shacho walk's around he is giving a tribute to the late Teloniouse Monk. This is called the "bear dance routine" so he could direct his musicians. With thanks to Leicaman Watanen for info.
I watched the DVD of session at Cafe Moskau. According to it, 'Pimp' members were impressed by the audience dancing like crazy and expressing themselves freely. Plus, tastes & sensitivities for music are quite similar between German and Japanese.
Damn, just came back from Java Jazz watching them live, and hell, that's one of the most exciting performance I've ever heard on the festival -and I've been there every single year.
i LOVE these guys! just goes to show you that music is UNIVERSAL! who cares about ethnicity or which ethnic group originally developed a certain genre of music...if you can feel it in your soul and you're passionate about learning to play it...you can make an authentic jam in that genre. screw ethnicity! music is music!
Wow did not knew them but they play with energy....I like it...I will see them on the NorthSeaJazz in Rotterdam 2009....looking forward to see them live !
Nah man, this is really jazzed up version of the super mario invicibility star theme open.spotify.com/track/4lRiCT25Hc9SPPVvIUso8I?si=qbpzgDSvSCOBy7xwfrWZGg (MIDORINOMARU - absurd)
Fantastic tune with a great energy! I'd appreciate if someone tell me name of the melody the wind instruments start at 2:01, right after the piano solo. I used to hear that song back in the 70's but don't remember the group's name.
You don't get what he was trying to say, do you? He was saying that people who like Japanese culture should look into stuff like this AS WELL AS anime+videogames. Unfortunatly, many people consider themselves 'experts' of Japanese culture because they've watched a lot of anime, yet don't know anything about Japan outside of what they see in anime.
@Sakurachan436 Ainda bem que gostas deles. E também acho o videoclip cómico, com o chefe deles a parecer que lhes está a dar ordens. Acho que é ele que compêm as músicas, apesar de parecer que não faz nada.
no one knows that tune at 2.01? i heard this song first then the original one on radio at the post office today!! i love that riff!! who is the band please??
Does anyone know the name of the melody the windplayers play at 2:01? It's an old tune from the 70's, sometimes used as a leitmotiv for some radioprograms.
@unfuckingavailable - I listened to them solid all day yesterday - moderately fatiguing;) the pimp had a little sound fx thing he was tweaking at womad - delay, filters....anyone know?
What's the guy with the cigars job in the band? Look at people, point at them, and talk in the mic whenever he feels like it? Serious questions because I want a job like that that requires such minimal effort. Fucking awesome.
