What I like about Wit, Seymour, Hermann and Roald is that they're just like your own allies - much as they believe in you to lead the charge and see them through to victory - 'Stick with Trigger', etc - Sol have absolute faith in Mihaly. The way they charge you - _you_ specifically, singling you out - and sunburst out into combat formation right in your face is like a declaration - that Archange is with them, and they aren't afraid, even of the Three Strikes. Chills every time.
The reason I like Sol so much is that they're the only elite enemy squadron in the series that doesn't act all mighty and douchey. They actually work as a team like what a real squadron would do and they trust each other's guts, especially Mihaly. The game did a good portrayal of the humanity of the enemy. It shows that not everyone in this battle is not some evil warmongers - Just human soldiers fulfilling their duty for their countries.
and then that helps out the whole drone thing, by humanizing the enemy and making them actually likeable but still your enemies, they're worthy adversaries but it also doesn't come out of the blue when you team up to take down hugin and munin. makes that team up all the cooler too
I watched an interesting youtube on how narratives often have a villain that is like a mirror of the hero, and what the hero could become if they allowed themselves to lose control. Think Mihaly is exactly that. What Trigger could become if he allowed himself to value being King of the sky at all costs. And also there is often an "other" villain. Think Darth Vader and the Emperor. I think the drones are the "other" villain in Ace Combat. Similar to both stories, the mirrored villian/hero team up (in a sense) to destroy the "other".
Me : *hit by missile* Sol : "hes hit but hes still flying" Mihaly : "he took the hit in a non-critical area, I'll teach you how to do that when we get back" *looks up plane blueprints* *scoffs*
@@Rizkyace118 ...wha, Really?? Ive never been hit by one on ace difficulty lmfao. i knew ac7 was way easier than the old ac's because i was hit a few times on hard, but damn lol
@@Rizkyace118 Can confirm...nothing is more humiliating and annoying than getting massacred right off the bat by the arsenal bird on lighthouse because you get greedy with trying to shoot the AAM launchers.
I think the implication is that the missile is exploding behind the craft rather than hitting it directly. If it did, your plane would be torn apart. The game is nice enough to give you a few chances even on Ace before blowing you to bits.
Mihaly: *”You're quite the entertainer, but this show is over with the next shot...”* *Pulls right behind him and locks on.* “You’re god damn right, Fox 2.”

This track is well named. Mihaly has two tracks for his solo encounters - both more somber and solemn, appropriate to his character. This one keeps that character, but is wilder, more intense than Two Pairs and Archange - because it's not Mihaly's theme alone. To me, it reflects well on the character of the other Sol Squadron's members: following their king into odds that might be possible for him but not for them, against worthy foes, on a lost battlefield. With his skill, Mihaly doesn't need courage - but it takes courage to follow a pilot like that into hell.
I have been in love with the idea that Mihaly is a metaphor for us veteran AC players ever since I had the thought. An ace unlike any other, fighting desperately to stay in the sky. Felling aces of every generation and continuing to be formidable even despite our years without a mainline AC game to play. Then as the new generation of Ace Combat players enter to the field with 7. We have newer pilots to contend with... will we be felled, finally, due to our arrogance? Or will we remain the great aces we know ourselves to be?
I love how the Ace Combat community just continues to keep up with these awful ideas thag excuse the poor writing of this game. Like PA had any sort of idea what they were doing. This game is a mess of cluttered ideas, dropped plot lines, and rewrites. Face it Mihaly is considered to be a deconstructed Ace Combat player because that's what the community made him out to be. That's the closest thing they can get to him having any sort of purpose in existing, and there still isn't. He's the most pointless rival since Akula.
Man my first run of the battle for Farbanti was fun. I was in an A-10, of COURSE I was in an A-10, and then Sol Squad shows up, causing me to facedesk, so i go about taking out each member of Sol Squadron, ignoring Mihay completely, I was having enough trouble practically doing post stall maneuvers in an A-10 just to keep up with the rest of his buddies, I down all but two of them when Wiseman acts as bait for Mihay. So i chase them, land a bunch of hits on Mihay's craft, and of course, he shoots wiseman down in a scripted event. Me, pissed off because wiseman at that point was the only AI who had done ANYTHING for me, 180'd my craft and instantly shot Sol 2 out of the sky, basically doing to Mihay what Mihay just did to me, before proceeding to dogfight him personally.
Feeling successful at the end of the mission, then this track starts playing..I knew straight away shit was about to go down and got chills down my spine. Good moment in the game
This weapon is not enough to take down Three Strikes. This aircraft is my body. Then I must put my soul into it. After some time.... Trigger has splashed a bandit Can you hear me, pilot with the Three Strikes? This was all because of my ego. I unleashed pure chaos upon this world just so I could keep my wings. Put a stop to the drone production. ............. Was that a message to Trigger? What does it mean? I don't think this war is over just because we shot down Mister X.
Trigger in his ADF-11F: I am Worthy than you do Im more than a Drone Im a Controller of my own pilot And You Cant Stop him once You have to beat him Everytime
@@guts-141 what? It fit more as the Guitars being the other sol squadron pilots while the voice is Mihaly. The track is named "Sol Squadron" why Trigger?
So I guess this is where Tabloid bails out. Copy that Later You are saying there are only two pilots taking on the orange guy? No.There is only one taking him on. My god,I wouldnt last a minute.
@@eugenlovin6788 Such a great scene. Sets the stage for when Trigger joins them. Wiseman doesnt have a second thought about putting Trigger in charge of Strider Squadron, because he's personally seen what trigger can do.
@@kallistnemain2343 I love it as when everyone runs away, they look from afar at your clashes with the legend. Both ally and enemy looking at these guys, the game does a good job at making you look seriously badass :D
Imagine this is your first AC game, set a difficulty on HARD by accident, you have NO IDEA about flight envelope whatsoever, spending entire evening trying to shot down that one fast boi
Yeah it kinda bugged me that at Farbanti I shot down the rest of Sol squadron in like 30-seconds and then stuffed 8 HVWM's up his ass and it didn't alter anything at all. I know a splitting storyline is difficult to direct but when your skill level is high enough that you're constantly landing shots but the games just shooting you a giant middle finger because plot armor you can't help but be a little annoyed.
Really? His invulnerablity didn't bother me much. Then again, I felt like its cheating using SP weapons on Sol and Mihaly but hey each to their own and all. Plus supposedly Mihaly is a mirror you from what I heard.
personally i never really thought much of strigon team, most of the time they just annoyed me like oh no an extra hard plane aaaand gone. but i have to give it to them on the big flying carrier and the retaking the city, there they felt like actual threats
This is just my favorite piece from AC7. It has the most emotion to me, somewhere up there with “Hush”, “Last Hope I”, and “Stonehenge Defensive”. Of course, they don’t have the same feeling, but they have a lot of that EMOTION
I feel bad for what we did to Mihaly. Sure he's alive and sure he's an ace pilot from generations ago that survived for an entire lifespan. But dangit sending him into depression was not my intention. But that's the reality of war.
This track was powerful especially while playing the Mission and Encountering Sol Squadron at Forbanti. I felt like this track fit pretty well in the atmosphere while trying to shoot down Mr. X.
The music is some of the best in AC7. Makes me feel like a hero. When the music flows with the radio chatter and I'm blasting tf out of enemies left and right is just too sick😤😤😤 shooting them down in the tracks climax points just feels so damn cinematic lol
Did this mission the first time on the f15, then i failed and realised that would be better to do it with the a10, you already know what happened when sol squadron appeared
@@aidenfindley8918 Count, the dude who stuck by Trigger even when the Three Strikes was doing insane shit like taking on 5 ace pilots, 2 tireless advanced drones, or flying headfirst into tight tunnels at supersonic speeds.
@@AdmiralKew Sol Squadron, the Knights who followed their King into the pits of hell to finish a battle most would've considered lost, fighting off the Snowbirds who took out an entire naval fleet and base and being lead by a silent pilot who can only be described as an absolute demon behind a flight stick.
@@gracecalis5421 That still makes me think though. Mihaly speaks, seldom but he does speak. No one fucking heard Trigger say anything. Imagine being on the opposite side. An unstoppable single minded maniac shooting down everything that is in the sky or on the ground. And he doesn't say. A. Single. Word. I understand why they started comparing Trigger to devil towards the end of campaign.
I have a theory that Mihaly might be the disappearing Galm1 and he lost his reason to fight after he shot down Pixy. Remember when he said “there were great pilots from every generations and I shot down everyone of them”? I don’t care that everyone told me It’s ridiculous I just love this idea.
Well if you wanna go down that route remember the Gauntlet Mode after completing the game on Ace mode you battle all squads you faced and even see Mobius 1 near the end you fight, maybe it is him
ok this is cool and all, yeah, and it's not ridiculous but it's straight up untrue. According to the Aces at War book, Mihaly was Yellow 13's instructor, so I heavily doubt that he could be the demon lord.
They always chose to fly a Five llane formation. And if you pay attention. MR X actually draws a sharp contrail while the others bank off.. just like the Cutscene in AC4. AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE VR MISSIONS
Would have to play 4 updated with 7's mechanics. 4 was all about constant turns at like 300mph, but Mihayl's pulled turns that'd murderfuck you if the games used their own mechanics. The scientist said Mihayl was subjecting himself to 30. FUCKING. Gs. His body is suffering from old age and radiation poisoning yet the plane still can't keep up with his reflexes. No, I believe it'd be a close match that could go either way but Mihayl wins majority 7 out of ten.
Imagine an ace combat where you could play as all of the games characters but each one had one life. And if you died in the missions that was it for them and you continued as a different pilot. Changing the story slightly. A pve mode with bosses that ppl can sortie to fight against. Like a juiced up Mr.x with his rail gun or the Arsenal Bird
My only complaint with the xbox one version of the game is that you can't turn the volume up to the point you want-where you'd have permanent hearing loss after the first mission cause of this epic OST.
Putting aside the latin jokes, this is probably one of the most thrilling fights i’ve ever been in. I mean, for me, i think I was using the f-22A raptor on my first play through, but damn was it fun as hell.
Spoiler for mission Farbanti on AC7. Wiseman, missile closing! I'll keep him on me........ just a little longer. Shit. Cyclops 1 is down. (AWACS Long Caster) Wiseman! Eject already Wiseman Sorry Count. His plane exploded. Wiseman! Cyclops 2,(Count) you have the lead. Wiseman! Shit Negative Cyclops 2,YOU have the lead I can't do it, Trigger should take command. The duty is yours! That's impossible! Do it! Damn it! ..... Cyclops 4 form an element, were gonna need our top gun if we are going to take down that bastard Wilco, Count ...... After some time Missile hit(AWACS Long Caster) Now go finish the job(AWACS Long Caster) Get Mister X Trigger! You can do it, in fact you are the only one who can. Actually every single moment and scene, every radio chatter, every time Bandog, Long Caster, Count, Tabloid, Full Band, Mage 2, Sol 2(Wit) Mister X and everybody else talked was extremely good.
(if you'll forgive a mention of league in this sacred place) I feel like this helped me with my Rengar game a lot. The low bass gave a very "on the hunt" feel to it
the first time I played this mission I was using the ADF11F raven w/ uav as I had bought that, the falken and the ADFX DLC's, I was also using the trainer back when it was up to date and actually fucking worked. It was just "where is your god now" for the entire fight.
For Me This Doesn't Feel Like Mihlay's Theme, or Sol Squadron's Theme (Despite The Name) Or Even Trigger's Theme. It's Wiseman's Theme. Notice How Similar It Is To "Siren's Song". This Theme Is A Final Tribute To Wiseman, Died In The Heat Of Battle To Give Trigger The Opening He Needed. A Good Pilot Is Not One That Values Himself Over All Others, But One That Values Others Over Himself.
I love playing this mission with the Mobius 1 skin on the F-22. I don't know it just feels right flying back into Farbanti long after the end of the Continental War. And thinking about a interaction between Mihaly and Mobius 1 would be very interesting.
Came to that conclusion myself when reading about 13's origin in the Aces at War artbook. It had a shortstory written by a film producer trying to uncover more about 13 after the Continental War. He found out that atruck driver swerved to avoid a large bird and got his tire stuck. 13 and his mentor, whose description is similar to Mihayl's, helped him out. Their planes had clipped each other in an exercise. This would happen two more times as they try to find out how it happened, coming to the conclusion that 13 was just talented enough to get that close to him. This would explain how Sol Squadron moved and did post stalled moves just like Yellow Squadron.
@@Lulu-ex7fc I actually feel like Yellow 13 might be his son due to the fact that the two grandchildren father is never mentioned, Also yellow 13 fell in love at the time with another pilot.
@@Trowa1293 Nope, Yellow 13 and Yellow 4 at the time of Ace Combat 04 were just friends (wingman) much like how Nagase was to Blaze for most of the war. We were hinted that both Nagase and Yellow 4 had hidden feelings for their captains but they weren't truely revealed till near the end of the war. In Nagase and Blaze's case it's highly likely they got together at the end of the war. As for Yellow 13 and Yellow 4 well... their kinda dead 😞 the narrator even says so. Also the Aces at War book implies or confirms Mihaly to be Yellow 13s instructor so we can scratched the whole Yellow 13 is Mihaly idea, and if you don't i'm going to throw all of you into *Solitary!*
