In this video we are going to look at Atmospheric Water Generators. In the last decade, there has been a lot of development for creating efficient machines that can extract water from the air.
Their are four different technologies being used. They are refrigerant based AWG, Desiccation based AWG, Peltier (thermo electric generator) based AWG and hydrophilic surface based AWG.
At present the company called Watergen has been able to produce a litre for just 300 Wh of energy.

We have used the ru-vid.comUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Having a simple, nature-replicating water harvester, that just about anyone could make for themselves, is truly a compassionate gift. The only thing I would add to this description, is links to show diagrams or plans for each type.

It absolutely will not. It's an utterly absurd way to produce water, you need a huge amount of power for minimal amount of water. Plus you need to then purify the water as you have dragged huge amount of air through your machine, along with all contaminants. There is is reason dehumidifiers say don't drink the condensed water.

Water shortage in Australia what a crock of shit we are experiencing floods from too much rainfall along the west coast. I live in Adelaide and have a constant variation from using my rain water from 30,000Lts down to 15,000 Lts throughout the year over the last 14 years. Never has my water run out and I run the whole house on it from the kitchen, laundry, bathroom, toilet and on my garden. I even wash the car with it. There are two of us my son and I.

Could the power for this be generated from the moving parts of the water condenser it's self? I have seen some hubcaps on cars that spin generating some power putting it back into the car battery. It's an idea. It would make the condenser more self sustaining a maybe provide more than just clean water. Just a thought to try and help.

Have none of these people ever heard of where ships get their water from? After twelve years in the forces i am surprised that sommany people have forgotten how it was done, and just how much water per hour these units would turn out. It was done using an evaperator using steam, that took in seawater Boiled it by reducing the air pressure so it boiled at a much lower temperature than normal leaving a brine at the bottom and the steam went to the top and was taken away through a condenser and turned into just plain water without salt in it, the water was checked every few minutes to makevsure it was pure water with no salt , in othervwords distilled water as youncould only use distilled water in the boilers for superheated steaming for the turbines that drove the ship . We are told that sea levels are rising so lets use a bit of common sence andvuse these eveperators to provide water for watering the plants and vegitables so all the world has food, we help reduce the rising sea levels . They can be as big or little as you want depending on how much fresh water you want, they can ve powered by the sun in hot countries, only require saturated steam, someasy to use solar heaters. Just think how much land can be used that at present is just too dry. This is technology that is asvoldvas the hills but works well, at least a far more viable idea than this getting water out of the atmphere.

If you have enough money, these things work but like you mentioned at the end of the video, it's in 4th place when it comes to getting potable water. These are not long term solutions as the sellers of these types of equipment never seem to be able to figure in all the costs of running them. Spare parts and the cost of filters (coming from halfway across the world) are conveniently forgotten when the it comes to price per liter. Where does the dry hot air (capable of taking in the moisture from the surrounding air) go?

I have a dehumidifier, but I wouldn't drink the water it produces. A huge amount of air is pulled through these systems, so the resulting water also contains dust, pollen and pathogens concentrated from that air. So an extra step is needed to purify the water. That's why the machines discussed in this video have better filters and things like ozone generators in them to disinfect the water and make it drinkable.

It's a scam. They lie about how much water they can get out of these machines. Every few years a new "water from air" machine is presented, but they all have the same problem, they can't pull more water from the air than there is in the air. These machines cannot produce enough drinking water to sustain people, especially in dry climates where people think these would be most needed.

Evaporating and thus Condensing water involves a very large amount of energy. Ever tried boiling a liter of water away? The same thing must be done here in reverse. Even if you can do it at 100% efficiency it is still not going to be efficient. An other weak point is the filters of the device. They are also not cheap, and don't last that long. Inverse osmosis is superior method to get large quantities of fresh water in my opinion if salt water is availeable. If not a well can be digged, or rain water can be collected, and filtered.

Is there a recommended model for high yields, longlasting and not to expensive? 50 Liters per day produced by 15KWh out of solar panels would be perfect for my finca in Spain. Might it be smarter to store most of the electricity and focus on nighttime water production?

Nothing much, as moisture is a constantly renewable resource. If you take out vapor out of water, it will immediately be balanced out by the surrounding atmosphere, and if we take out enough water from the entire atmosphere, that itself will make the ocean release some extra water into the air. Unless the entire humanity decides to take out water from a very concentrated place(which we won't) that will channel the moist air towards the relatively dry air zone and change the air pattern, there shouldn't be any impact at all. We make more effect in the air by simply breathing in and out or running our ACs or from the heat emitted from our cars.
