Today's video is a special and shows what happens when people support a local Ham Club and actively participate in an event.
The Solar Eclipse for 2024 over North America was a huge event and a great opportunity to showcase amateur radio, but it takes many volunteers for that to happen.
First there has to be a call from a national level and that came in the form of Hamsci.org . They put the call out to all Hams to activate get on the air make contacts and upload logs to gather data for a study to see how the Eclipse effects propagation.
Now on the local level Clubs need to step up a d activate on a local level and not only get on the air but bring ham radio to the public and that's exactly what the Suffolk County Radio Club did, reach them at suffolkcountyradio.org for more content on this event.
The final component is volunteering at the club level to make it all happen and you'll see exactly that in this video plus a special feel good story about Club history and a special qso, no spoilers here .
So enjoy the video and bring it back to your local club to present ideas on how to get involved at your next meeting.
