Checkout the Intex solar mat setup for this bestway above ground pool. Also in this video we look at a solution to support the hoses leaving the pool to the pump. Everything seems to be working great.

I coil up 2 100' black rubber water hoses and made a connector to connect to one of the water jets in my small in ground pool. So when ever pool pump is running so is my heater. On a good sunny day, 12 degree temp rise depending on pump speed.

If you connect the heating mats in parallel and not in series, you can hook them up to your existing filter pump without blowing them. And it will not effect the water temperature, but you will save money on power for the extra pump, and you don't risk damaging the mats by "inflating" them. Hooking them up in parallel will also give you better flow which is turbulent, and turbulent flow transfers heat better than slow and laminar flow. And no matter if they are in series or parallel, you should open the bypass valves just a little, just te get some flow and heat transfer from the bypass tubes in the mats. Let me know what you think :)

Hey could you please help me understand what exactly do you mean by running the mats parallel? It seems like there’s only 1 way to connect them together, how else would you connect them? Thanks in advance

Awesome video series for your pool. My wife ordered a Bestway pool and I'll be setting it up in a few days. My only question is if you have a link you could share to the 3d file for the Intex/Bestway coupler thread you made? I see the link to thingiverse for the hose support but not one for the coupler threads. Thanks.

I know this an old video, but I tried running the original pump through the intex heaters like you as a 2nd pump but it did not suck any water through the hose. Did you use a special suction hose in the pool?
@k6outdoors

@@jrfinest you have to make sure you prime the pump by filling the hose and getting the air out of the pump. Thanks for stopping in

Do you think the flow is limited by the mats not laying flat around the input and output and pinching the tubes?
@k6outdoors
@k6outdoors 2 месяца назад
Hey thanks for stopping in. Unfortunately, that is not the case, alot of narrow passages and the only way to increase flow would be to increase pressure, which they can't handle

I enjoyed your video. Can you tell me the pump specifications you used on the heating mat?
@koningbolo4700
@koningbolo4700 Год назад
these mats have effectively about 1 m2 of surface area. This means that in most latitudes the panel will get about 1,000 watts of power from the sun. Most likely this will not be 100% transferred to the pool but at least 60-70% should find its way in the pool... 4 mats should equate to roughly 2,400-2,800 Watts of power going into the water...

I notice that your pavers are not recessed into the ground. The instruction manual recommends pavers to be flush with the ground but I don't want to do that if I don't have to. Have you had any issues from pavers setting on top of the ground?

@@dustingreuel5942 chemical wise you could always run it as a saltwater pool and save money... might want to use some roofing seal paint on the uppers of the legs to reduce rusting with that though from what I've read.
