You can double the brightness of the light with a makeup compact mirror. Place the mirror in the bottom of the container. The light from above shines down onto the mirror and the glow becomes multiplied.
Can I ask did you put anything inside? My friends husband died in 2020. The anniversary is comung up I woukd really like to do something special for her to put in the grave
I have been sooo impressed with these lights. Bought five last year. Figured I’d be lucky if they lasted a month. One year later, they are still going strong. Lasted through rain and sleet and -30 degree weather. Still going... WOW.
I did the one w/the broomstick...I put a few in some large pot plants and dropped morning glory seeds in....(did this last spring!) If I only could show the pics..I had purple morning glory s climbing all the way up to the top..IT WAS GORGEOUS!!
I literally walked around DT trying out the solar lights in various glass jars & re-listening to this video. I settled on the hanging light in silver & also plan to give those as gifts. Thank you putting this together.
THANK YOU!!!! I've made several cute lights to use as night lights for my bathrooms. I use several across each room & hang one from a closed door in the hall near my kids' room. I have a big flower pot on the front porch (in full sun), and each morning I walk around with a DT basket and collect the light portion. then I take them outside and put them back on the "stems" that have been planted in the pot. In the evening I go out and harvest my light crop, haha! The small crackled glass jars are also super cute with the light top in them. Thanks again!!!
Omg what I great video, I could not believe all those ideas wow. I don't see how people give thumbs down, it is genius. I guess no matter what you cannot make some people happy. I love the video.
@@mmkay3296 are you one of the thumbs down, since you had the reason for them? She did more than put them in different jars. She had several different ideas of what to do with them, instead of just placing them on a table.
Ohhhhh good idea!!!! I had some of those little twinkle solar lights and wanted to put them on my outdoor umbrella but couldn't figure out how to place the solar panel so that it could charge it regardless if the umbrella was open or closed....solved!!!! Thank you for this idea, can't wait to try it out!!!!!
Love these ideas. I've been considering buying a bunch of these lights in case of power outages, but didn't like the way they would look sitting in my windows. With some of the bottle and jar ideas, you've solved this for me. Thank you!
I just revisited this video for new inspiration. You totally turned me on to the Dollar Tree solar lights last year! I made the lights with dollar tree containers and the glass beads for our deck. My bed bound mother's bed looks out onto the deck, and she loved looking out at those at night :). Thank you for helping me add a little joy to my mom's life :)!
@@notforthefaintcrafted9725 beware of the ‘shiny’ effect on small kids with the pebbles , mine gradually disappeared over time... I also then realised the lovely collection I now had of ‘diamonds’ my son had given to me when he came home from school had actually been decorating a neighbours pebbled area in front garden & he passed by twice a day when he walked to school! 🙈🙈🤣
I love how there are so many different ways to decorate with solar lights. I've recently made stained glass solar lights. I just buy the solar stake lights and I take off the clear plastic parts and paint them with acrylic inks. Once they're completely dry, I put the lights back together and stick them in ground. I did green lights for the front yard but I'm thinking about doing blue for the back yard. It's a really fun project and it's worth it because I have pretty colors lighting up at night.
@@davideinwechter5985 The phrases “”Conspiracy Theory!”, “Tin Foil Hat”, “Satanic Panic”, “False Memory Syndrome”, “You Must Live In Your Mother’s Basement”, “Don’t Breed”, “Seek Help”, “Take Your Meds”, “Put Down The Crack Pipe”, “Nutter”, blah, blah, blah are just very childish attempts at damage control by using tired, old, worn out Cointelpro and Tavistock phrases and tactics that are so last-century, (seriously, they’ve been around since Kennedy, and the tactics are as old as the hills), and no one is falling for it anymore. Anyone still using those phrases or childish mockery tactics either didn’t get the memo, or is one of them...same goes for all derogatory words. It shows either a lack of intellect, a lack of any real argument, or collusion and conspiracy with the perpetrators.
Necessity is the mother of invention, Very very cool, I am 70 years old I was a pipewelder for 30 years I love to tinker with things. This is too cool Love it⚘⚘⚘✌✌✌
*VIDEO UPDATE:* Please don't throw away your old Dollar Tree solar lights, the battery inside them is replaceable. There is a single AAA NiCd 1.2V rechargeable battery inside each one and it can easily be accessed and replaced using a small screwdriver. (They sell a small screwdriver set at the Dollar Tree in the auto aisle.) Also, in the video, I mentioned using E6000 to glue the lights in place, but instead, I would recommend using hot glue or a semi-permanent glue, so you can access the battery when it dies. Thank you so much for watching!
@@lelindafaulk5335 You can use E6000 or another permanent glue, or you can use wire to attach the ring to a wire fence if you have one. Thanks so much for watching!
OMG!! Never thought of doing this with the Dollar Tree Solar Lights. I use them often and they last for a long time. Now I can make them pretty and usable on any tabletop surface while out camping. Thank you for sharing those ideas.
@@creationsfromthetable5291 oh and if you have a tent they -and the battery operated strings with leaves or flowers fit perfectly at the part at the top of the tent!
I remember my mom used to brush on clear nail polish on the solar part so when it rained they didn’t damage. It worked, kuz she had those lights for I think 2 years or so
I tried something similar, but the solar lights don't get enough sun, especially once the tree leaves grow in. Or you can hang it lower to the ground but you'd bump your head on it. I may move the chandelier to a sunnier location this year...
I have huge back yard and very dark so I put a light at each post around my chain link fence. Stuck it in with the stake in-between the fence to hold. Its even with the post. They look like little lanterns all around the entire fence at night.
Loved this video so much that I took several photos so I can remember your clever combinations. My favorite was the shepherd hook with the glass with the wire hanger.
I love this hack video. I went with one of the first ones. The simple clear vase with the blue stones to accent our front door steps. Very cool! Thanks Sarah!
I think she meant last resort Wal-Mart 😉 bc let's be honest who likes going in Wal-Mart? I have had some of my Dollar Tree solar lights for five years and thru 2 hurricanes.
You know, It also depends where you live and which ever is closer to you. Some of these comments are a bit snarky. I guess kindness must be alittle painful for some to do. How sad !!
Wow - this is amazing! I can’t even decide which one I want to make! They are all great - and the fact that those things got in so many dollar tree vases/jars/bottles…..coincidence??? I need to watch the video a couple more times and try to choice one or two ideas, then make a trip to Dollar Tree. Woohoo! Love Dollar Tree!
Wowieeee, those ideas are stinkin’ cute! Everyone you showed us was better and better!! Can’t wait to get out and get to DT!! Thank you for your brilliant ideas! Blessings from a cold n windy NYC! 😘😷
Awesome ideas! I just bought a bunch of these for disaster prepping. When the power goes out, go pluck them out of the ground, bring inside and arrange in a vase like flowers for instant light. Your ideas of putting them in jars or skinny vases has my brain thinking of yet better ways to use them inside for power outages. Love these ideas! Thanks for sharing!!!
how much light do they really put out?? can you actually see if they are outside or are they just cute? I also am disaster prepping, but also need to do some lighting on one side of my house..at night its pitch black you can not see anything but i cant afford to install regular lighting.
Genius ideas!! I buy those lights at Walmart for 97 cents each, I use them on the top of my deck posts, but I love the colored glass vases with the light!
Those are so DUH, however, I had never thought of any of those ideas. That’s why I love your site, you think totally out of the box. You have such great ideas from the Dollar Tree, that never look like they are from there!!! AND I love your smile it’s very uplifting. 😊
I am so impressed!!! I've just got done this evening spending the alot of money the last 2 days at Dollar Tree but now I can't wait to go back and try some of these solar lights!!!
The best and most mind blowing diy video!!! So easy when you are able to see the options in everyday items! Thank you for bringing light to us, the clueless’ ! 😀
Lady you ROCK!!!!...OMG was just standing in my (huge) backyard yesterday thinking I wish I can afford pretty solar lighting....but how and where do I put them. Above all that I just knew it was going to cost me a fortune. I'm so stoked and inspired. I had a few of the materials needed already just hanging around my house all this time...thank you so much so glad I stumbled across your channel yay! ❤
All pretty! I love the look of solar lights. And they don’t add to my electric bill. Great ideas for out door grad parties, birthday parties, etc. Could even be used inside for wedding receptions etc. Ty.
These are fantastic! Thank you! These also work great if you bring them inside when the electricity goes out. Keep them outside charging all the time, and when the lights go out, you can bring them in and have wonderful lighting!
Totally awesome ideas!!! I love the light on top of the sweeper handle for height!!! Ours always get lost in our yard in spring when the bushes grow. This way they'll be above the bushes!! Seriously, great ideas!! Thank you so much!!!
They've been selling them for years now and if you don't buy them in the early spring you'll miss out by May/ June here in my area. They sell out quick!
Great ideas! I live and travel full time in my 25 foot 1994 class A motorhome with my little dog Tinkerbell filming now for a little over 2 years now. I really like some of these ideas like the 3 foot tall option and some of the littler table lighting options to light up my camp at night and look beautiful at the same time! Thank you!
I picked these up yesterday from dollar tree needed light for yard. So glad I came across your channel. Ty so much can't wait for them to open so I can get the containers and use your brilliant ideas.
Oooooooo! I never thought about doing these!! Sometimes they have fancy tops for the solar lights too depending on the season. I’m going to try these soon!
Thanks for the tips cause my dog shredded my solar light into pieces so now I am going to use the broom stick method that you mentioned in the video 🙏🏾💜
Love all of these ideas, my favorite is the shower curtain hook idea to place on a fence! Going to try this one on all four sides of fencing in my yard! Thank you!!!!
