We could see the northern lights in north idaho near the University of Idaho more clearly then we've ever seen. Most people here have never seen them, much less as vibrant as tonight

Saw the Northern Lights for the first time ever tonight in Washington State! They're faint and mostly look grey in appearance but they're there. Very cool!

We saw them alll the way here in south Florida

I saw the northern lights in the central Oregon desert when this happened like 11 or so years ago. It was late evening and I thought I was seeing things because I wasn't informed beforehand. It was wild. Found out later it was because of the solar storm

Im from Yellowknife up North of Canada. Im aboriginal and my elders taught us that the Northern Lights are Our Loved ones that Passed away. They told us that Their are Spirits dancing in the Night sky. As im older now 36, and i read my Bible and understand what Timeline were actually on. The Northern Lights are not Only our Peoples loved ones that passed away but the Whole Worlds. Now that this Short season is about to End, we are witnessing ALOt of deaths in the World, so now the Northern Light is getting bigger. More of our family and friends are passing away in this dark times. i Pray that you understand what im trying to say. Farewell my brothers and sisters.

So fun fact, Washington state saw them vividly. It was 87 degrees yesterday. It’s never even like 80 in may. We see 87 in late July or August. Anyway, I looked at the forecast and no rain expected for at least ten days. After coming in from see the clear skies and the dancing colors I looked at the weather report again and it said for 50 minutes there would be light rain showers and would end and be done. Mind you the skies were clear as clear can possibly be I think. Where the fk did this freak rain shower come from and why wasn’t it on radar just four hours prior? We don’t get random spurts of rain and then nothing else for weeks or whatever? Very strange if you ask me but likely just a fluke I guess🤷🏻‍♀️

The lights were directly overhead in Seattle that never happens usually they are on the far north horizon and blocked by clouds. They weren't that bright although which makes me think there isn't alot of particles and the power grid will probably be fine. Particles from the Sun hit Earth's upper atmosphere at very high speed and knock the electrons out of orbit which causes the air to glow, the particles slow down after a few collisions and are moving much slower by the time they reach the lower atmosphere but the Earths Magnetic field gets disrupted and its these magnetic surges that can mess with the power grid.
