Back in the early ‘60s, we took an Olds engine out of my Deuce roadster (too heavy) and installed it into a buddies '53 Ford Victoria HT. The ’56 Olds was bored to 348ci and had dual AFB’s, Engle cam/kit plus a 4-speed Hydramatic; the result with this combo was a truly awesome “sleeper”. Had trouble though destroying the rear axle assembly which was ultimately cured by using a Ford station wagon axle. We later realized this HD axle was the now famous 9" Ford. Good ‘ol days roddin’ at random in ELA and Montebello with Chevron Supreme 100 octane at 25c a gallon….
That's a cool old Ford. I have two '65 Galaxie 500's, one is convertible and the other is 2 door hardtop. And I bought a 1960 black T-Bird a few months ago with original 352 engine, 3 speed on floor, factory overdrive, B&M speed shifter, racing clutch, stainless steel dual exhaust, Flowmasters, B.F. Goodrich T/A radials on deep dish Torino GT wheels and it, too is an older restoration painted in black lacquer. Old Fords are fun! ....Till your Daddy takes the T-Bird away, ha ha.
