RICHARD DUKE WORKSHOP c.1770
We are pleased to present this old London double bass made in the workshop of Richard Duke. Richard Duke was one of the most prolific English makers of the Eighteenth Century and had several workshop locations. This instrument is a great example of double basses produced in London in time, being of cello outline, with English-Stainer style soundholes and head. This instrument is an orchestral monster. The sound is huge and it is easily playable for a larger instrument.
