May I ask what kind of heat gun and temp you're using, what type of solder and what kinda clay is this? thanks much.

Thank you for your question. Our soldering material is listed on our page www.jansjewels.com/soldering-paste-soldering-torches-1.html. The solder is 300 degree prefluxed solder Item No. 0434-02. The heat gun is Item No. 0626-00. The clay is Play-Doh or any none hardening craft clay will work.

Hello.I followed the video, they are very helpful and I use solder wire and iron but the wire wont stick on the stone chain.? can you help me? where did I go wrong? I use solder rosin core.flux code and stone chain

Hi Version. You mentioned a soldering iron. I do not believe that a soldering iron will get the settings on the rhinestone chain hot enough to melt the solder. I do not think it is possible to make this piece with a soldering iron.

oh so I cant use soldering iron....OxO but heat gun? What about the wire..did I choose the right one?

The issue with the soldering wire is going to be the melting temperature. You will need to use 300 degree prefluxed soldering wire with a heat gun.

ok..but the wire melt nicely.. just that...it wont stick on the cup chain...

The setting of the chain must get hot enough to melt the solder. Check the video, heat is applied to the rhinestone chain, the heat is removed and the solder dabbed to the chain. The solder is melted with contact to the heated chain.

Hi Rafidah. I am using J Board (green) foam board made for soldering, lined with Play-Doh a non-hardening children's modeling clay. Instead of the J Board you can use wet floral foam, used for flower arranging. I have found that when ordering the j board it often comes in broken and due to the size, the shipping cost is relatively high. The wet floral foam can be found at most craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

May I use glue gun to do this please?

I have not tried using a glue gun to glue settings together. Most likely it can be done. However, I am not sure how well it would hold up. In my experience hot glue tends to eventually pull away from smooth services. I would think that it would also be a bit messy.
