This is a video where I took the whole process of using solid solder. Copper-phosphorus solder very hard. Use very large wire cutters to chop solder into small pieces. If you get a big piece of 3-4 mm it can be cut in half.
It is important to choose the best size for each solder joint. Place the solder near the seam. Because of the phosphorus content in the solder, we can work without flux. Use a butane torch to heat the copper. The solder is melted by hot metal and will flow into the place with the highest temperature. This way you can control it. If too much solder can distribute it on the surface of a metal with a flame. After heating the copper became dark - use citric acid to clean it up.

How cool! I have never used anything besides silver solder on copper. I will have to try this :) Thanks so much!

Hi, this video is very useful; you earned a sub there. I do have a question or two though. Where can you purchase that copper solder and is there a similar sort of thing for brass?

Thank you! :) I do not use flux for soldering copper. This solder works well without flux. And citric acid cleans the metal well and is safe.

I always find it easier if you get your two ends to meet as tight as possible and then flatten the solder and just squeeze it between the two ends, hides the join too…

@OksanaTrukhan
@OksanaTrukhan 7 лет назад
Доброго дня! Нажаль не знаю, чим вам допомогти. Сріблястий колір виникає через те, що деякі припої мають у своєму складі срібло. Той, що у пасті точно його містить.
@mirraling
@mirraling 7 лет назад
Та ні, в мене в прутку - такий як у вас на відео. Тому й розгубилася. Бо там у складі немає срібла. Якась магія.

why do you weave with the bracelet not flat? Why not weave first and then shape it won't that be easier to weave
@OksanaTrukhan
@OksanaTrukhan 8 лет назад
+pepperedsunlight Yes, it will be easier to weave. But I plotted the same design to not have trouble with the ends of the wire.

I’m looking for a place that will restore my colt 45 gun powdered flask eagle two little dings in it it’s perfect but when I went to twist it off I did it too hard and I broke the seal Not the flask I was wondering if you could do that the seal is probably a man’s ring but unfortunately I’m looking for the piece as we speak and I don’t have it in my hand so if this craziness begins to happen would you be able to just Sauter a new round piece on there? I’d like to show you the pictures if there’s anyway I can get in touch with you please let me know I’m very interested this is my best relic I’ve ever found in my life

I'm constantly failing at soldering copper. Your video shows the best of success. My only difference is that I'm using the same size butane torch, but does not have the 'nose' like a heat-gun' nose, but still says it heats up to 2500 degrees f. Even if I get the copper red hot, the small piece does not melt. I am frustrated. Do you have any suggestion of where I might be going wrong?
@OksanaTrukhan
@OksanaTrukhan 6 лет назад
Can you show me your butane torch? Maybe it's too small. Another reason may be that the parts do not squeeze each other tightly.
@kennethgnielsen
@kennethgnielsen 6 лет назад
I don't know if I can post a photo of my torch here but here is the link to the torch I have on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Excel-Blades-80770-Micro-Torch/dp/B000BI4NZE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517849592&sr=8-1&keywords=excel+micro+torch+80770

The pieces are fitted together tightly, they just seem to heat up, that is all, even to red hot, more than you show in your video. I am determined to learn and appreciate your guidance with this. I believe once I achieve success it will then become easy to learn.
@kennethgnielsen

Is there a flux I need maybe?
@kennethgnielsen
@kennethgnielsen 6 лет назад
Okay, I was now able to solder the copper with copper solder but needed to use a propane and oxygen brazing-welding set up. It melted the brick but the heat was hot enough to make a weld. it softened the copper wire and now it bends like butter, but still, I made a solder joint. I'm requiring too much heat to get the solder flowing and it is not flowing as easily or with as low of heat that is being used in the video above. I can order the same exact torch used in the video but I think the micro-torch I have is already about the same.

I'm new to soldering and want the solder to match the copper wire to be flawless. so this phosphorus solder remains the copper colour? this is the alloy to use? I didn't see you apply flux. is it not required? is there a heat that is desirable.
@OksanaTrukhan
@OksanaTrukhan 5 лет назад
Hello! Yes, this solder becomes copper color if you do not overheat the metal. And yes, flux is not needed.

@@OksanaTrukhan ok. awesome!! thanks :) and for heating the copper with a torch you need a kiln block? I have a slab of marble and was hoping it would do the trick as I don't know where to get a kiln block. it looks like a cinder block to me!

hi. i have bought your product. sometimes it works beautifully , sometime it doesn`t. I have a big enough gun to get 1500 degrees. the solder makes itself into a lump, becomes red, then has like a tiny explosion...it does not melt into the groove. I make sure that the metal touches eachother. Can it be too much fire/heat too quick and the solder doesn`t react as it should ? thanks for your help
@OksanaTrukhan
@OksanaTrukhan 4 года назад
Hello! Sorry to hear that. If the solder does not spread, there is only one reason - it means that the metal is not warm enough. It is difficult for me to say where the mistake is. Maybe you heat the solder itself. But it is necessary to heat the metal, and then the solder will stick to it as soon as the metal reaches the required temperature.

@@gaudibogaert5087 I'm asking because the soldering rod I bought looks copper but it's still silver when used. I can't seem to find one it then, and now that it's available in my country it's very expensive. Btw can citric acid also clean oxidation in the nooks and crannies of say a copper chain?
@holohulolo
@holohulolo 2 года назад
@@gaudibogaert5087 I mean the one I used looks copper after using but after I started sanding it he filler is visibly silver. The rod itself is copper in colour and when used but apparently only the surface. So I was wondering if your is copper all the way through or not, since you didnt use sand paper to sand it down.
