The qs8’s are excellent. They have a lot of the same characteristics that I’ve come to love with the XT90s. That hydra esc has me drooling

You might try a much thicker solder wire and a higher wattage soldering iron that way the brass in the connector wouldn’t wick so much heat from the iron, just a thought ! Great channel btw always love the content👍🏻

I agree. More power, shorter time. 50 watts minimum. bigger tip. :)

I use a 120w portasol or 140w elec iron and 60/40 tin/lead solder not 40/60 or lead free

tip for anyone watching now but the two connectors together so you don't unaligned the plugs, also please back fill those more lol. Also it isn't a pain in the butt to heat your cup tin, just have a real soldering iron or a 200watt solder gun...
@andreaskassner3320
@andreaskassner3320 Год назад
Its much easier and faster when you tint your Iron with solder before you heat up the connector and fill up with solder. On the last you fill up the most empty room with solder for more durability.

80 plus watt i iron should be used. You can plug the mate of the connector into it which will help absorb some heat to prevent the connectors from shifting from too much heat.

I was about to write the same thing to him. 80-100 watt soldering station and always use the counterpart of the plug when soldering. How I learned: Solder hot and short.

Looks great man. Ive been thinking about doing this for my bj42. Connectors get a little warm for me. One thing you may want to try out is connecting male and female sides of the connector when soldering. I do this with my xt90 to keep the bullets aligned just incase i get them too hot and start to shift.
@IRONCLADRC
@IRONCLADRC Год назад
Thanks, yea I mentioned that in the video, plugging in both connectors. With my soldering iron with both male and female conectors plugged in it took way to long to get up to temperature.

You mentioned the charging adaptor…can these connectors be charged with the spectrum s2200 G2 charger? Do we have to make an adaptor qs8-ic5, or can it be purchased? I have been wondering how to charge these connectors…that’s the charger I have - the spectrum smart charger.

Another suggestion would be to take a file and scratch up the inside of the bullet. and just a smidge of flux. and a little hotter iron. but nice work, making it flow nice and stick well.

Watching ur video as I’m about to solder a qs8 for an e-bike build. I got the same shit iron. BARELY gets hot enough to melt solder if it’s touched to anything which wicks heat. Really wish I had spent the extra $10 for at least 40-50w iron. might have to let the connectors sit out in the sun for a bit before I give it a go

A little flux goes a long way, but good job. I soldered up a few of these gigantic connectors lately and it's the 8 gauge wire that makes the job challenging not the connector. It's best to lay the blade of the soldering iron across the connector rather than pushing down on the wire with the tip of the iron. Cheers!
@IRONCLADRC
@IRONCLADRC Год назад
Thanks. My thought process was if I shaped the wire to the cup it would have more surface area in contact with the bullet "cup" ? Idk... hopefully it's okay.

How do you make these connectors easier to connect and separate? I purchased the OSE 8.0 from offshoreelectric and if I connect it all the way I need pliers to separate them. Is there a trick to these? I tested 5 sets.
@IRONCLADRC

There supposed to fit tight especially in the actual bullet for better current flow. Not sure how the make them easy to unplug, I've only had them for a few days now.
