Easy soldering, even with the wrong tip on the soldering iron! 😂 I had a small pointy tip better suited for circuit board type stuff, I should have had a flatter/wider tip.
1-plug the soldering iron in and let it get fully up to temperature.
2-when doing a splice such as this, strip back approximately equal lengths of insulation, I like to make sure the wires are twisted nice and tight. Overlap the wires at their center point in an X, hold the center then twist each side. Keep it nice and tight/tidy.
3-Remember: Heat rises, so have the iron under the splice. Wet transfers heat better than dry-so melt a fresh puddle of solder onto the iron tip.
4-With the iron under the splice with a fresh wet puddle, touch the solder from the iron/puddle to the wire
It should be a quick process, try your best NOT to heat soak the wire/insulation.
👊👍
