What are those lines on the ground across the runway, by the way?

They are erosion control devices, aka "water bars." They are rubber strips that are buried in the airstrip that help divert water off of the runway to help prevent channeling and erosion in the runway. They are like gutters, sending the water to the side of the strip and preventing momentum.

Why do so many bush pilots use tail draggers? I feel like it would be more sketchy landing there with one because if you get into a ground loop, you’re probably dead
