Started out as a reserve, soon promoted well deserved, and the legend has begun.
Lauri Allan Törni, the soldier of three armies. Born and raised in Viipuri in Finnish Karelia, Lauri Törni grew up into a world of tensions, of class-consciousness and conflicting ideologies. Boxed in between the Soviet Union and Germany, Finland was preparing for war of survival. The Winter War would be the first place for Lauri Törni to see battle and begin his legacy as a born soldier.

My grandfather Sulo Kuirinlahti was part of Detachment Törni from the first moment and was one of 3 surviving from the original company (i think the history says 2 but grandfather told me they were 3). I asked him if it was true that Mauno Koivisto (Became President of Finland in the 80s) was also part of Detachment Törni, he replied that "yes but e was only there for 9 months". Im very proud of what these men and my grandfather did for Finland.

Not only was he a solider under 3 Flags. He was a early member of the Green Berets in the 1950's. He is currently buried in Arlington Cemetery with honors. Look up his Wikipedia page. He is very much respected among any person in the US SOF. He was in his 40's when he got his beret. He was the inspiration for the character that John Wayne played in the movie The Green Berets. He has a building named after him at Fort Carlson home of the 10th Special Forces.

@Phi6er His name was Aimo Koivunen. Long story short, his ski patrol unit got attacked by Soviets, and be got separated from them. He was also carrying the units entire ration of Pervitin (meth used to stay awake on duty), but was too panicked to get one pill out so he just took all 30. What followed was a 1-2 week long bender where he should have died several times over, getting injuries including stepping on a landmine, and skiing for over 250 miles before making it to a Finnish hospital and being admitted. I think his heart rate was measured somewhere around 200bpm and he weighed 94 pounds by the end of it all

Well, I've witnessed some crazy shit during my life, and I think it's good to remember that even though we here on the comment section have nothing but respect for the man, there still are millions of other people out there. It wouldn't be nice if someone unstable, who thinks Joakim spreads fascist ideas for example, shows up on his doorstep. Not to mention the possibility of unstable women lurking under his bedroom window and singing about sucking his metal machine. You never know what's going on in people's heads and therefore anything is possible.

I shamefully neglected this channel in the past few weeks while you guys were creating content even in the quarantine. Thank you, I'll close up in no time. I have to admit, I've always overlooked this song somehow, I mean it's good, but not amng my favorites. Maybe because I wasn't that interested in the story of Törni either. But now, with such details and insight, it picked up my curiosity. And Joakim, you totally can make your home address public as a world-famous rockstar. Of course nothing can go wrong at all. :P

Lauri Allan Törni is a small cat compared to Serbs from Herzegovina Vaso Glogovac! He left home as a recruit, and after 26 years of military service, he returned to his homeland with the rank of major and numerous military recognitions. At the beginning of the First World War, he was mobilized in the Austrian army, later he became a corporal of the Serbian army, then a Russian lieutenant, then a Japanese lieutenant and finally a major in the Chinese army.
