Soldiers During Morning Formation! 

When you show up on time and your squad leader tells you to go back to the barracks and get a soldier that still sleeping...you come back with the soldier, everybody is in attention, the 1st Sgt see you and say...you 2 stop there, get on the ground and start pushing.

There were many times I was the early bird and scared shit-less because I thought I was at the wrong spot or missed the event entirely.

The sick call ranger got me. He was all happy and smiles n shit lmao.

Our 1st. Sgt's. remedy for hangovers was close order drill at fast pace. First signs of still drunk, or hangovers, had the whole company in the 'dying cockroach position'. Flat on the back, arms and legs at the vertical, while being lectured on how perfect the army has built your strength and stamina, only to be surrendered to the ways of alcohol. At the end of the five minute speech, the command of attention was given with a count of 5 to recover. Rarely was the recovery accomplished by even the most sober. This really had the guilty exposed for the rest of the company to monitor, to insure the 'dying cockroach position' was kept at bay in the future formations. When I was an 11b with 101st we used to get called back to the company for stupid shit all the time. They would never tell us why though until we would get there. One time I showed back up with my son who I had just picked up from school, turns out there was missing equipment from the last field training exercise and everyone was going back out to look for it until it was found. I got to go back home since I had my son with me while every one else got to pile into the back of an LMTV 😆

We were doing PT and they had us with our legs spread and then bending over and touch our toes and stretching. The guy next to me says to the female soldier next to him, "Spell run three times real fast." She does. Several people start laughing. She laid into him like she was Connor MacGregor.

You forgot the smokers that have to be out in formation area smoking it up. Also Fantasy football leaguer that does his best espn commentary reminding everyone the footballs games from the weekend!

I was definitely the hungover guy lol sometimes still drunk. There was a time when it was mandatory for me to run at the rear of the formation so the rest of the squad didn't have to smell the booze ridden sweat pouring out of my body lol

i remember one time AIT we were downgrading to shorts and the guy who was still half asleep forgot his pt shorts good thing he still had his compression shorts.

I truthfully feel that if you were a normal guy, (or at least in my case) I've been every one of them -- at least once. Don't forget about the the Preemptive Gas-passer who would warn you first by yelling, "GAS!" as though he were doing you a favor! You couldn't break formation anyway!

The hardest thing I had to deal with is keeping a straight face during a flag ceremony (JROTC HG) only because one of your friends farted....loud.

I am so fucking glad I was a medic when I served on Active Duty & I worked in hospitals the entire time. I only had to attend a Company formation once a month. I only had to wear my BDUs once a month. PT was on our on time. I wore white nursing uniforms during the rest of the time. I worked rotating shifts at the hospitals. We worked with both military & civilian doctors & nurses. It was a big difference from what my husband dealt with as a Forward Scout.

I can certainly say the farther n the wannabe ranger who actually look forward to this r 2 characters that I clearly remember

When i was 17, I went to a 5 month military school which was basically bootcamps in one sitting. I couldn't imagine being hungover at 6am during formation. And you'd definitely mess up so a drill instructor yelling at you while hungover would just be the worst experience ever.

Nobody ever told me, they went out to the field... Best day ever!
