What a unique looking engine! I personally think she's beautiful in Green!

I never would have guessed this wasn't her original livery, it's actually quite smart! As for starting a flame war, I think having her out in a "day out with Thomas" scheme would be far more warranted! ;)

I really hope this loco gets made some day in OO Gauge, it’s a beauty, plus if the company made tolling variations then someone could make the SE&CR version as well! Fingers crossed the real loco steams again some day🤞

A lovely engine 5 of the class that the GNOSR Couldnt pay for were actually sold to the SECR where they became the SECR G Class

I believe those engines belonged to the earlier V Class.

As the last representative of a railroad, having it decked out in the full livery is appropriate

Nice to see another Scottish engine get shown. Great video once again. Personally, I like the green livery on No 49.

Very strange seeing my local preserved line on a Sole SLIP but then again, expected considering the collection! Love these brief little insights to these engines as well, little pockets of history.

Upon grouping, these locos were re-classified as D40s.

Yet again chris another amazing video, just like the one on 828 you have shown some light on another not too well known class of steam locomotvie and railway company. Also its nice to see more coverage on scottish railways and locos, keep up the good work loon!

I don't mind/understand the livery debate. Yes I saw Chris's video about it, but I'm just grateful there are survivors to admire today.

A nice engine from an often overlooked railway company. The green livery may be inaccurate, but it looks good and it could have happened if the GNOSR had stayed with green, so I don't care about the inaccuracy. Be interesting if she returned to steam again. I've seen the Railway Roundabout film of her working on the Spey River Line.

My requested loco! Perhaps one of the most elegant 4-4-0 designs of all!

The sad part about the British railways, is that by the time steam preservation picked up, many classes of steam locomotives were driven to extinction. It’s even sadder if the engines are from the same era as this one.

I would agree, the D40 along with the D34 (Glen Douglas), and the LSWR T9 were the only 4-4-0's that are similar to Edward in the UK in Existance today, and a Edward fan like me is extremely proud!

According to Wilbert Awdrys writing in The Island Of Sodor, Edward was a Furness K2
@westinbridges7321
@westinbridges7321 3 месяца назад
@@ChristheXelent the only issue, is that Edward has a weird NER-styled cab. Thus that's what led to the debate on what an alternate basis for Edward is. Some say that it's the Great North Of Scotland Railway's F class (later LNER D40) or the LNER D21.

...and the point in saying that is... not that important. Oh dear, how sad, never mind
@glenn6523
@glenn6523 6 лет назад
Not relevant Richard as this is a F class, The SECR got a batch of V class locos which predates the Fs.

No need to be that rude about it
@richardharrold9736
@richardharrold9736 6 лет назад
Err... surely the fact that some of these (whether superheated or saturated) ended up on the SECR and survived well into Southern days is interesting? No need to be a dick about it.
@ChristheXelent
@ChristheXelent 6 лет назад
So what's your constant excuse then? In any case, Glenn's quite right. None of the eight Fs ended up on the SECR, some of the Vs did. They're not the same class, merely similar. Therefore, your point in this context is not only pointless, it's inaccurate.
