I experienced the same issue matt cole found. But actually its not a bug, its the setting named K-Factor. You can enter a value there which adds material automatically when the material is bend/folded. Standardvalue is 0,5, make it to 1,0 and u will get the same length in both conditions.
Other issue I found is on the flat pattern Solidworks doesn't recognize the feature as a circle. That will be a splin instead. Do you have the same issue?
this is great however im trying to roll a piece that the fixed edge is not parrallel to the other edge. so i flatten in out using "unfold" cut it to desired shape, lets say a circle or a triangle using "extruded cut" but then have problems when comes time to refold it using "fold"
I've seen the same issue as Matt Cole. Try changing K-Factor setting to Bend Deduction. Make this value 2X your material thickness. Flat pattern dimensions should match those of your bent sheet metal parts.
I tried to add a louver using the forming tools but it I get a warning when I fold it,"Warning the following features were lost while folding/unfolding bends. Currently only simple through holes arfe supported inside a bend region:LOUVER." IS there any way for me to put louvers on the inside of the cylinder?
Is there a way to transform a solid cylinder which I already worked on (cuts , holes and stuff) to sheet metal ? Basically I did a vase and know I want to flattened it to see how the laser cut will be. Thanx
How about if we make extrusion in that half round sheet metal with let say 2 diameter with offset ( x coordinate) from the center 25%. Does it mean that if we unfold this extruded part, solidwors works will give us unfolded 2" diameter circle which become some elliptical shape. And geometry of elipse that we receive will be accurate?
The problem I have found with this is that the length of the sheet metal changes drastically when unbent due to a bug in the calculations within Solidworks.
Hi, I did exactly that on a piece, but when a try to make a draw of the objetc, solidworks doesn't reconise the hole like diameters, I can't put quotes on it. Please help! And sorry for the bad english. =(
