After you created initial sheet metal body - you have sheet metal basic feature above which has thickness parameter. So you can go back to sketch and use thickness in equation 60-"3" to make it dependent and will have easier way to edit the model later. Not to have number in equation and be able to edit height of the model seperately - can create "Height" global variable and use it in equation instead. Nice vid btw, used the same technique 6months ago creating the same part :D
I was thinking to myself at the start of the video "hmm, I wonder if the jog feature has functionality to work in reverse? (so to speak)". Great video to show how to think differently.
I have tried lot of thing and then end up using jog and got result, btw i first time used jog for this took time because i didn't want to see this video before i have solved the thing and i did, man now im seeing there was a way to make this without jog lol you are wonderful at your job bro
sometimes I offset a construction line the material thickness and then dimension the height. that way my sketch looks like the print and you do not have to use math and run a chance of a mistake.
Hi Toby, nice model as usual. I solve this one using sheet metal jog, and I got 807.73g for mass. The only problem I faced that I couldn't make a circular pattern with jog 😅
Thank you Toby, This is certainly a challenging part and It took me hours to figure it out, the first time I used the same method as here but I figured by using Jog Feature there is less need for extra calculations, I post it here , also congrats on 6k 🙂 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f9qzaz4Np8E.html
Speed, Stability, Snippiness. (I know 2 of those are basically the same thing) I've used the different builds of SW in side by side applications (on the same computer) and 2015 just feels more like a snappy video game, where the later builds I feel like I'm always waiting for the program to catch up. Waiting when I launch, Waiting when I double click a template, Waiting when I create a new feature, Waiting when I add a dimension to a drawing. I bought a professional seat of the 2022 software, and when I run the newer builds it feels like I playing an early access version of an underdeveloped game on steam. Slow and laggy. (Dell Precision 7750, 16 GB RAM, Intel core i7 clocked at 2.60 GHz, nVidia Quadro GTX 3000)
@Too Tall Toby that makes a lot of sense. I never considered the possibility that different releases would be anything other than new skins and a new tool or two. Is there any functionality that isn't present in 2015 that you wish was there.
Nice step by step instructions! I did it once reasonably quickly (see my post in the original video challenge), my first thought would have been to use a jog in SW (as @franklaurent80 did) but Onshape doesn't actually have that option (yet...). However I thought about a really quick and easy way to do it after so I had to do it again (and record it this time)! Just over 1:20 to get the answer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w3C_G6SsynA.html
